IS this article full of crap???? I didn't hear he was hurt at all. |
re: Springs out for tonight (calf)
He's probable.
|
re: Springs out for tonight (calf)
He got kicked in the leg in practice the other day. He SHOULD be fine.
|
re: Springs out for tonight (calf)
He's played through worse. I think he'll be out there.
|
re: Springs out for tonight (calf)
X-rays negative. It just swelled up. I think he is just a fragile guy. I've never heard of someone getting kicked so hard that it swelled up to such some levels but didn't get broke. Some people have lemon bodies and get dinged very easily. He is one I think. He seem to be able to play thorugh much of these issues though. It's unfortunate because be doesn't credit for how good he is.

re: Springs out for tonight (calf)
He's fine.. Springs is tough...
|
re: Springs out for tonight (calf)
FRPLG you're pretty off there. Springs has an outstanding ability to play through these "minor" injuries, and being an athlete myself I can tell you first hand that bone and muscsle bruises are not as minor as they sound.

I said he plays through it. I am talking about the physical nature of his body. Some people's bodies are more fragile. They have to make up for that fragility with toughness. Springs does. Compare him to a Brett Favre who never seems to get nicked quite like this. It simply comes down to physiology. I am not saying he is injury prone and never plays. |

/agree on this. I got kicked in the side of the shin playing rugby and would up w/ a bruise from knee to ankle - very painful, but went away in 10 days ish. |

Suck it up baby

And here we go !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
re: Springs out for tonight (calf)
I doubt he's goona miss the 1st game of the season with something as minor as this
|
re: Springs out for tonight (calf)
Does anyone remember back in the day when you used to bang your shin on the steps of the slide at the playground? I am sure we all remember how much that shit hurt. I bet we also remember how sharp the pain was trying to run home afterwards.
You can try to downplay it all you want, but a bruised shin hurts like hell. I agee that it probably shouldn't keep him out of the game, but it is solid enough of an injury to make him probable. |
re: Springs out for tonight (calf)
Better be in. The defense is and has not been the same when Springs i out.
|
re: Springs out for tonight (calf)
This happened last year if anyone remembers. He unexpectedly was ruled inactive right before the game. I certainly hope that doesn't happen again especially if we are going to play more man coverage. Is Rogers or Smoot starting tonight? I ask because they have Rogers before Smoot on the depth chart.
|
re: Springs out for tonight (calf)
Rogers is suppopse to start.
|
re: Springs out for tonight (calf)
RI is listing him doubtful

2006 season is a good example. Stay healthy Shawn! |
re: Springs out for tonight (calf)
just heard on the radio that Fred Davis is going to be inactive for the game tonight

If he is out as this link indicates, I am going to start drinking now... |
re: Springs out for tonight (calf)
Not good news on Springs, Los better be ready to rock
 |
re: Springs out for tonight (calf)
Plaxico has got to be licking his chops. Watchout for Manning to Hixon tonight as well--he has had a good preseason and will now probably go up against Torrence instead of Rogers...
|
re: Springs out for tonight (calf)
wow this might be a big loss...hope smoot and rogers bring their A game tonight.
|
re: Springs out for tonight (calf)
This is very very very bad news. Hopefully the offense has some kind of breakout!

[/quote] Is it too early to start with the "we should've signed Deltha O'Neal?" Man, I REALLY hope Carlos is 100% to go...and Smoot too. Soooo Torrence did well during the preseason? Right? |
re: Springs out for tonight (calf)
I can't believe that Springs is going to miss the game because he got kicked in the shin. That just seems ridiculous to me. I know Rogers better be damn well healthy or we're going to be stuck with Smoot, Torrence, and Tryon. That equals a very long night and most likely a Redskins loss.
|
re: Springs out for tonight (calf)
Springs is kind of a little bitch. It doesn't take much seemingly for him to miss a game. Get a cortisone shot or take something and get out there. It's opening night, a f-ing division game. MAN UP, DAMN!

Springs is a great player, but I get the feeling that he doesn't even actually like being a Redskin. Man up is right. |
re: Springs out for tonight (calf)
as long as tryon still sits and let Horton, or even Erasmus James play dime in front of "tryin' not to suck" then we should still be fine. Springs is great but Smoot and Rogers (now healthy, woohoo!) are better than most teams starters.
|
re: Springs out for tonight (calf)
Woah.....why are you guys knocking Shawn Springs all of a sudden? This guy replaced Champ Bailey and our defense didn't miss a beat if you ask me. He gets hurt a lot, but that's part of the game.

Who's knocking SS? I love him but we will be worse without him. |
re: Springs out for tonight (calf)
We are going to be set up for disaster if Tryon has to play tonight. I'm sure the Giants watched our preseason games and saw how much of a liability Tryon is.
If they start overmatching Tryon with a superior receiver than this game might turn ugly. I hope we can recover from Springs being out today. |
re: Springs out for tonight (calf)
That's disappointing about Springs. They should have done what they did last year during the Bears game to him. Remember when he was supposed to be out for the game but then at the last minute decided to play, but couldn't find his shoulder pads? Supposedly, Jerry Gray had the equipment manager hide Springs' stuff and told Springs something to the extent of "Well we figured you'd sit out this game anyway" but it was said in a "what's new? we can't depend on you to stay healthy" condescending kind of way that got Springs fired up and he had a huge, HUGE, game for us.
That said though, with his experience he shouldn't need that sort of motivation. Anyhow, we'll miss him tonight. It's Smoooooooooot time now |

re: Springs out for tonight (calf)
Just got in from the gym- no Springs?? Well shit. Eli will abuse Tryon if he's in there. This is not good at all. Our secondary will be tested early and often. We play against the Super Bowl MVP tonight, Drew Brees week 2, Kurt Warner week 3 (had one of the best second halves of any QB in the league last year), then Romo and McNabb weeks 4 and 5, both on the road. A dinged up Springs, a surgically repaired Rogers, Smoot, and then who behind them? Shit shit shit

Sorry man. I know. I'm just really jittery right now. I've got some scotch in the freezer. I think it's gonna get broken out sooner rather than later. I'm pacing around my living room right now. |
re: Springs out for tonight (calf)
looks like tryon will have to play now. without springs we are in trouble
