Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. My mom was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer only 6 weeks ago. Unfortunatly she was already too sick by the time we found out about it. Cancer sucks and its a terrible way to die. Take care of yourselves and make sure you are going for regular screenings when you reach the appropriate age. Unfortunatly my mom didn't do this, if she had maybe things would be different.

Regardless of all of that, it is very nice to see people care. Thank you all again for your kind thoughts and prayers.

I am so sorry to hear this. =(

My MIL is a big part of my sons life and I am afraid her day will come to with cancer if she doesn't stop smoking. I would hate to see her go.

Life without my own parents is not a life I think I will be able to handle. I am 35 now and they are in their sixtys. They are in good health and all but it is so hard to imangine not having them.

Again I am so sorry to hear this. God bless you and your family.

I extend my condolences, Matty.

My father is in the beginning stages of his second bout with cancer. Early indications are not good. He's 55.

Damn Matty, my condolences to your and your wife. I only got to know my grandfather for 5 years before he passed away from cancer in late '93. It just sucks.

Sorry, I'm late with responding here. I believe that people who lose loved ones to cancer are part of a family in a sense -- especially when it's one of our parents. I lost my mom to ovarian cancer three years ago on June 18. We were lucky to have her for three and half years after diagnosis, and she had a chance to see two grandchildren born. Some aren't so lucky.

I know what both of you are going through. Hang in there.

That's really a great way to put it Beems. It's just such a horrible disease. My wife also lost her father 11 years ago to cancer. And I lost my stepfather to cancer when I was 18. It's so devastating.
