Re: In Gus we Trust
He's better than Jackson. Of course, so's most team's 3rd stringers.
|
Re: In Gus we Trust
i would have started him over jackson this season.jackson is awful.
|
Re: In Gus we Trust
I wish the Skins played the late game so I could go to the Panthers/Vikes game sporting my old Gus jersey.
Nevermind, it's in Minnesota |
Re: In Gus we Trust
I'm really not so sure that was a smart move. Starting Frerotte sooner and working in jackson as he progressed would have been smarter. Jackson has an upside, and Frerotte is on the decline and was never all that to start with.

Re: In Gus we Trust
7 teams in 15 years! There's something to be said about his longevity that's for sure.
|
Re: In Gus we Trust
he's like the terminator. just....won't...die
|
Re: In Gus we Trust
Jackson isn't progressing much as a passer. I think the Vikes definitely have playoff potential if they can get some decent play at QB, and right now Jackson just can't get it done.

No question. I can't believe the guy is still in the league, much less that's he's going to be given a chance to start. At this point, I might actually be rooting for him (so long as his interests, of course, don't conflict with mine). |
Re: In Gus we Trust
Gus Rocks!!!!! Until JC gets his consistency down I still say Gus is the best QB we have had in the post Rypien era headbutting the wall or no headbutting the wall!!!!

How about Brad Johnson in '99? |
Re: In Gus we Trust
or Tony Banks?
|
Re: In Gus we Trust
ive always liked gus, good to see him starting again, hopefully he scores a td and headbutts the wall in his next start
|
Re: In Gus we Trust
The Vikes invested too much money on upgrading this year's team to be held back by a still learning quarterback. While it's hard to imagine Gus being a guy who can take you to a Superbowl, it's also hard to imagine the offense being worse under him than it has been under Jackson. Also, Gus has played at times for them over the last few years and has been pretty effective.

Re: In Gus we Trust
Good to see Gus back. He's definately a good backup. Usually can come in a get a win here and there.
I too still have the dusty Frerotte #12 in the back side of the closet. Maybe he'll be a backup for us in a few years and i can break it out again. |
Re: In Gus we Trust
Im honestly picking him up as my backup to play on Peyton's bye week. Don't be surprised when he puts up some decent fantasy points. Hecht I won my pay league last year with Kurt Warner, well LT helped a little. Hes not awful I mean he'll limit his mistakes and he can still chuck the ball pretty far.

Yup, it was tragic to have Johnson go. |
Re: In Gus we Trust
I can't believe a team has to sink this low. You know, the Vikings had all off-season to fix QB and chose not to. The Minnesota fans should have a cause of action for professional malpractice.

Re: In Gus we Trust
Meanwhile Heath Shuler roams the halls of Congress.

Re: In Gus we Trust
The Vikings are my second favorite team. As a guy who follows them closely, I understand the decision Brad Childress made. I am still not giving up on Tavaris. It might do him some good to sit with the clipboard for a while. All the vikes need is a qb to manage the game. With the Offensive line and running backs they have, any number of quaterbacks with experience should be able to make them legitimate contenders. Just don't turn the ball over and Adrian Peterson and the defense will take care of the rest.
