Cowboys Wk 4
I am sure many of you are watching the GB/Dallas game right now. I know its not even half time but I think that the skins have a decent shot at beating the cowboys next week. Anyone care to agree or disagree? I hope the O-line can hold and JC can move around the pocket enough to not be on his back every other play. JC is definitely going to have to be more aware then he has of the pocket next week. I also think a thorough analysis and break down of this GB/cowboys game will be key to a W next week. Thoughts?
|
Re: Cowboys Wk 4
the skins will have to play the whole game as good as they did the first series today if they have any chance whatsoever at beating dallas new week.they need to stop the run a lot better too,or barbour & jones will run all over them.
|
Re: Cowboys Wk 4
I think we're going to have a big problem stopping Marion Barber, considering we've struggled containing bigger backs so far this season (Jacobs, James). I'd love to see an effort like the game last year when we held him to like 0 yards on the ground.
|
Re: Cowboys Wk 4
Yeah, we need to keep our offense driving. We can't disappear for most of the game like we did today. Time of possession and finishing drives will be very important. I've been surprised at how sloppy the game has been thus far.

Re: Cowboys Wk 4
Anyone can be beaten on any given day. If we double TO as GB is doing, keep Horten in to stop the big RB, get pressure on Homo, we can beat them. It can be done. I mean Dallas has been held to 3 points for most of the first half and to be honest GB's defense has not impressed me this yr.
I was also hoping the NYG were going to lose considering Cinci played them so well today but nada. The darn Eagles had to win also. Next week will be our test. We held the Giants under 20 points. I was concerned as to how good the NYG actually were and I still am considering Cinci gave them hell today but Dallas is supposed to go into the post season so it will be a good measuring stick for us. Atleast offensively speaking 'cause we might have to keep pace with them. I am excited about us scoring more then 20 points the last two games. I got tired of all the low scoring games during Gibbs. |
Re: Cowboys Wk 4
That's what got me thinking about the possibility of the skins chalking a W next week, the sloppiness of this game. The cowboys are a force to be reckoned with, but from what you saw last week and tonight, they make their share of mistakes. Anyone else love watching Romo fuck up or is it just me? It was fricking awesome last week when he fumbled in the end zone which turned into that safety.
|
Re: Cowboys Wk 4
Watching the Cowboys, our Defense is going to have to keep forcing turnovers for us to win. I think Arizona showed we have a weakness for run stopping, and I am sure Dallas will push us hard that way. I think we may have to wait till we get the cowboys on our turf before we beat them.
|
Re: Cowboys Wk 4
I think we definitely have a chance to beat Dallas. We have to keep TO in check and gang tackle Barber. ON O we have to establish the run to help out JC.
|
Re: Cowboys Wk 4
If we can maintain long drives I think we can win. Our DB's smothered the cards receivers for much of the game today. I think we can do the same to dallas. If Landry can get an early pop on T.O. he'll get alligator arms again like he did with Sean Taylor. We'll need a GOOD pass rush and our line has GOT to protect Campbell. We can do it but we'll have to come out strong from the get-go. I hope romo has some of his f***ups against us. We have'nt done to well between the 20's stopping the run. Somehow we did a helluva job on their run game last year. We need to pull that film out and take a look.
|
Re: Cowboys Wk 4
I NEVER think we will lose, and I stay positive all the way until the final whistle blows...that's just who I am. That being said, there are only two teams that I feel are elite teams right now, that's Dallas and Denver. Can we beat them? Certainly! But we need to be better in all facets of the game to do so.

Re: Cowboys Wk 4
We're gonna have to play a hell of a ball game. My worry is them running Barber straight at our smallish DE's. He's an animal.

Taylor is no slouch to stopping the run. |
Re: Cowboys Wk 4
Taylor is no slouch to stopping the run.
He's been pretty awful at it his whole career. Maybe he'll be better here because we have more help for him at the second level. If he is going to be better, we didn't get any of that today.

Re: Cowboys Wk 4
The X-Factor to this game will be Reed Doughty or Chris Horton if he starts the way Miles Austin did the GB secondary and the way T.O. has been running streaks down field our defense has to be on point Romo loves to go deep.
|
Re: Cowboys Wk 4
Things to keep in mind, TO had a quiet game against GB, that's means next week they'll be trying to give him the ball a lot. The Cowboys added another weapon to their arsenal, Miles Austin and Felix Jones is very dangerous. For us Devin Thomas is starting to produce even if he made some bone head plays, hopefully Kelly will be ready for more action next week. I think the keys will be our DB's against their WR's and stopping Barber and Jones. We need to play aggressive and not be intimidated, our OL needs to win in the trenches. Should be a good one I hope.

Re: Cowboys Wk 4
austin's been around and hasn't done much, so focus on TO and barber and, of course, planting romo's face in the dirt.
denver as an elite team? everyone's been laying 30 on them, no way i'd call them elite. i can't imagine they'd be much worse without champ - that pass D is stupid bad, and he's making 9mill a year. |
Re: Cowboys Wk 4
since this will be the last game in irving, are the skins and cowboys wearing throwbacks?
you can bet your ass that next season washington will play dallas in the opening regular season game in that new billion dollar stadium.last night,GB stopped TO,but 19 stepped in and took his place.cowboys have a great offense.gotta give it to them. |
Re: Cowboys Wk 4
Watched the recording of the game this morning.
Dallas D is hurting a little in the backfield and could be weak against the WCO quick passing. But we must develop rushing yardage that takes pressure off Campbell. GB abandoned their rushing attack too early and went for too many long pass plays, not to mention bonehead penalties that stifled their own drives. We have to play smart. Their O has a powerful running game, but Barber relies on bouncing outside the tackles for much of his bigger gains. A lot of their inside stuff gets stuffed (see also the Philly game). We must contain better than GB did to force them to pass, then get pressure on Romo (with containment a priority) to help the DB's. Springs on TO all night with safety cover will help, but we can't forget about Clayton and Austin. The latter may be a one game wonder but you can't count on that. If we do all of this, and can get the better of the field position, we should come out on top, but this is going to be a close one. If we screw up anywhere, we could be blown out - Dallas are a big play O and 1 or 2 of those could mean game over for us. |

Dallas' MONSTER OL. Colombo-318, Davis-353, Gurode-318, Kosier-305(midget), Adams-340 Skins DL. Taylor-244 (listed on nfl.com, probably 255), Griffin-303, Gholston-298, Carter-253 Blache is going to need to scheme this game perfectly because we're outmatched on paper. The O must also control the clock in a big way. |
Re: Cowboys Wk 4
We always play them aggressive. Since Gibbs II we always punch em in the mouth. Win Lose or Draw. i am not worried. We are never intimidated by Dallas.
|
Re: Cowboys Wk 4
I'm not going to say that we CAN'T win, but I wouldn't put money on us. We have struggled big against the run and they are gonna lull whichever SS into the box in order to isolate TO or crayton and go long.
We made the cards run because they wouldn't beat us running and wouldn't stick with it. Dallas can. Felix jones is damn nice and barber is elite. Our offense for some reason seems to hinge on whether the first play is successful. Sont know why that's so importanr but it seems like jim zorn has no 2 and 10 plays. I don't think were ready yet, but I hope I'm wrong. |

He used to be the kick returner until Felix Jones came onboard. Now Austin is technically the #4 WR behind Owens, Crayton and Hurd. But Hurd is nursing an injury as well, so that bumped Austin to #3 his first game back. I have read this entire thread thus far, and I keep reading about "shut TO down like Green Bay". Well Owens does not have to have 7 catches, 100 yards and a TD for the team to win. As was evidenced last night. Owens draws double and triple teams, and that leaves man coverage on someone else, Like Crayton, Witten or even Miles Austin who had over 100 yards and a TD last night. Next to Felix Jones, Austin is the fastest guy on the Cowboys roster by the way. Romo does not need a triple digit QB rating and 300 yards passing for this team to win, as was evidenced last night. That is why the Cowboys are tough to beat, you take away thier primary weapon (Owens) and/or thier QB can have a sub-par performance, like last night, and the other guys can still beat you. Barber had a MONSTER game last night, that more than made up for Romo's inconsistencies. Felix Jones has proven that it WAS the right choice to pick him OVER Reshard Mendenhall in the draft. Felix (The Cat) Jones is the first rookie in Cowoys history to have a TD in each of his first 3 games. And I read "Shut down TO". "Shut down Barber", "Pressure Romo", but no one has mentioned shutting down Witten too. Just too many weapons, IMO And let me also point out that the Dallas Defense has allowed only 2 TD's in thier last 6 quarters of play. And that defense has racked up 9 sacks in the last 6 quarters of play. And I lost count of the number of QB pressures that have initiated. |

The big ones in no particular order TO, Barber/Jones, Witten, and yes maybe throw Crayton in there. So, Was has it's work cut out for them. However, it is Was/Dal and in the last few years it been a good fight no matter who the Boyz have. It'll take a heck of a game by JC and the defense to get this one but I'm not writing this one off. Washington's got some talent too. |
Re: Cowboys Wk 4
Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan Fuck Dallas !
Much like Ivan Drago,...they can be defeated. |
Re: Cowboys Wk 4
I'm getting sick of all the sport writers and commentators, claiming the Cowboys are the best in NFL...now that Pats are looking beatable. The Cowboys tend to make too many mistakes that will cause them to lose to certain teams. Don't believe all the hype ...
Dallas is a big balloon that will likely pop post-playoffs IMO. |
Re: Cowboys Wk 4
1. We need to script the first 15 plays of each half.
2. We need to stop TO by doing something similar to what the the Packers did to him. 3. Put constant pressure on Romo. If he has enough time he'll pick us apart, if he doesn't it's "hello turnovers!" 4. Watch out for Witten, he's a sneaky bastard! |

Stop Moss or stop Cooley? Stop Portis? Or maybe throw Randle El in there? |
Re: Cowboys Wk 4
I think the running game will decide who wins. If the Skins let Barber do to us what they did to GB, they are going to hand us our asses...

Re: Cowboys Wk 4
Romo is a turnover machine! :D
4 in 3 games, plus one more fumble that Dallas recovered. Even though it shows as 1 fumble on the stat sheet, he actually fumbled TWICE in the end zone last week when it was recovered for a defensive TD. So he actually has fumbled 3 times with 3 interceptions so far. 21 fumbles with 35 interceptions in 2 full seasons + 3 games. That's just regular season, he becomes even more clumsy in the playoffs. :D :D :D Because someone will bring it up, Campbell only has 17 picks and 14 fumbles in 30 games. Romo has played only a few more games with 35. Nearly twice as many INTs and plenty more fumbles. Romo is averaging 1.33 turnovers per game this season by himself. The Redskins have ZERO turnovers as a TEAM. |
Re: Cowboys Wk 4
The Redskins will beat Dallas because of three main reasons.
Turnovers that result in points. Secondary is the worst in the NFC East. Jason Campbell's revenge from last year in a game he should have won. The die cast has been set. No one should give us a chance and it will make for a embarrassing exposure of an overated team with a decent offense and a horrid defense. Redskins 34, Cowbitches 20 |

Redskins 34, Cowbitches 20
A little like the pot calling the kettle black. Dallas secondary had one HALF of a bad game against the Eagles. The second half of that game the Eagles only managed 7 points and McNabb was sacked 4 times due to coverage. Rodgers was sacked 5 times last night due to coverage sacks. And the Redskins secondary is ONLY allowing 10 yards less per game in the air than the Dallas secondary. Not to mention that you are facing the #1 offense in the league next Sunday. Washington will not win on Sunday. |

Stats, names, predicitions....all garbage! THATS WHY THEY PLAY THE GAME my friends because none of the other shizit matters!

Re: Cowboys Wk 4
a game of this magnitude we need to be very aggressive for 4 quarters with no letup at all. make it hard for them on every play.it will be the typical skins /boyz type game where it will come down to making a play at the right time.this will be a tough couple of weeks and we will get a real good indication on how far the skins have come in first 3 weeks of the season.
so yes this is dallas week as we put it and to coach zorn please i hope you are very understanding of what this week represents and i know the players know it,s dallas week... this is going to be another rival nail biting game to say the least. |
Re: Cowboys Wk 4
I believe the Skins will show up to play. Whether they're good enough to beat the Cowboys in Dallas is another story. We'll find out who is for real.
|
Re: Cowboys Wk 4
Washington will not win on Sunday.
Listen, I'm perfectly willing to admit that the 'Skins beating the Cowboys is a tall order, but making blanket predictions about the future is just silly. Everyone said the Giants didn't have a chance against the Pats. Pats were the best football team to ever play, it was going to be a slaughter, etc. Even if it's slim, there is ALWAYS a chance. That's why we actually play the game on Sunday instead of marking down another "W" for Dallas on Monday afternoon. |
Re: Cowboys Wk 4
Too tough to call. Right now, Dallas is the better team and they should win the game. However, anything goes in NFC East games.
|
Re: Cowboys Wk 4
Daaaaaaamn. We're getting ahead of ourselves aren't we? I think this could go two ways: We win a close one because JC plays smart and our D is up to the challenge, OR We get blown because they get the run going early and then Romo can take us deep with 8 in the box.
edit: I mean we get blown out, not blown... lol. Although with jessica in the stands... |
Re: Cowboys Wk 4
The Dallas defense better be a concern for the Skins. They quitetly shut down offenses. Even the eagles in the second half of last mondays game. The redskins do not have an answer for the Cowboys offense either. Jason Taylor will not even sniff Tony Romo.
