Look who's eating crow?

Okay Okay I'm a man who dishes the crap but also give props where props is due. For the last year and a half I've been butchering the name of 1 named Jason Campbell. Countless threads shows me attacking this guys skill level and fire(especially after drafting my boy Colt). Well let me swallow my words now. Campbell posted 24 fro 36 321 yards and a score last week. You cheered I yelled fluke. This week 22 of 30 193 yards and 2 tds. So I'm a little scared to give him props in fear of him fading against a talented Dallas defense. He posts a good game this weekend and that should convince all the skeptics. Most important stat not one turnover..Thats huge in my book so I think its safe to say Campbell is good which is a huge step from my mediocre tag..Come on skeptics give the man his props if i could so can you.

Props to you for being honest. What I like is Zorn himself said it took Hasselbeck 4 years to get the WCO. While Jason still has a lot to learn, it's scary how good hes been through 3 weeks. Youre right this game will be his true test.

hooskins 09-22-2008 11:13 PM

Re: Look who's eating crow?

I've never doubted JC but I was getting a bit worried about Week 1, not so much about his ability but the fans, Zorn, etc overreacting and benching him if he kept on playing like that.

I know its gonna take Zorn about 2-3 years to really perform well, and I pray to God Danny gives him that kinda time.

That can also goe the same for zorn..Nobody really gave him a shot. After game one i was scared as hell no I'm a little more at ease.

Good point. I kinda like the fact that Zorn was not just some re-tread coach. He brings innovation and something fresh to this team, not to mention he was a player himself. Could you imagine if Snyder hired Jim Fassel? Not so sure we would be looking this good, but that's just speculation.

You know who needs to eat some crow?

Sally F'ing Jenkins.

Where the hell has she been the last 2 weeks? Oh that's right the Skins won. Next loss she'll probably be back. Pathetic.

Re: Look who's eating crow?

After the Giants loss I said that I was off the Campbell bandwagon due to his inefficiencies at QB and the team's overall competitive level against an NFL opponent...

The past two weeks Campbell has turned it around and has reversed my expectations of what he and the offense were capable of. I commend the efforts of Zorn, who I approve of, and Campbell, who I formerly had no faith in, during the past two weeks.

The Skins have fielded competitive teams the past two weeks and not only competed in their games but won with Campbell at the helm.

...I formerly retract my announcement of being off of the Campbell bandwagon and would like to know if there is room available at the rear of said bandwagon for parties of one in the crow eating section.

Don't you guys think it's too early to jump on or off the JC bandwagon? It's way to early!

DirtyLandry 09-23-2008 12:56 AM

Re: Look who's eating crow?

Think about this too guys...wait until we get these rookies going- Thomas, Kelly and Davis. If these guys live up to thier billing, Campbell will have a pretty good arsenal. In the Saints game he hit 9 different recievers and in the Cards game he hit 8. Coupled with Zorn's unpredictable playcalling, we could hang with anyone.

I guess when I said that I meant that I wanted him benched for Collins but now that he is performing well enough to compete with other NFL teams I'd like to see him as the starter.

Even if he struggles I won't mind waiting and watching him come into his own in this offense because he has shown the promise of being able to run this offense well.

Yeah I thought that and dont get me wrong I'm still not sold but the whole idea is he's proven more these three games then i expected. He has put us in position to score and win. Last years JC wouldn't have done last weeks play change or check down that gave us the go ahead score. Two close games in a row that we won. Last years JC would've cost us at least one game with a pick or late fumble. He's maturing so raise up and show a little love.

Lets see how clear heads are after the next two weeks. To me we are still in great shape at 2-3. I just hope we gain some experience and our learn curve speeds up. Then our schedule gets fairly easy and everyone in the NFC East has to come to our house.

True, last year He threw picks in the 4th qt, This year tds lets hope he keeps it up. We must protect him, If he has time against that secondary he will shred them, Hell he it did last year in both games he just came up short on the final drive. We keep the deep ball from T.O. and limit barber, I like our chances.

I was on JC and Zorns ass myself, not to the extent of some, but anyway,I'll happily eat crow, props to JC and Zorn.I've only been able to see the first game, but i've been impressed with what I've been reading.2 calls that I've heard Zorn do just please me to no end,the 4th and 2 call in the NO game, then last week passing on 2nd down to get the first to run out the clock,as much as we all love Gibbs,I dont think anyone here would argue that he would make those calls

Yeah no way gibbs make those calls..Thats called killer instinct and leaving nothing to chance.

I hear what you guys are saying, but Campbell has yet to beat that team in Texas. And until he does, he has not proven he can play for the Redskins. Thats just my opinion. We'll see what he does this week.............

Re: Look who's eating crow?

Hey, he's shown he can play ball, but he's got to sustain it--and win on the road, which is tough to do!

But what's most impressed me is the comeback and great play in the 4th quarter. That's what we haven't really seen before. In part it's JC and in part it's Zorn, but it's all good.

He's going to have both ups and downs this year, no doubt. Let's see how he handles the next round of adversity, which is surely going to come. So long as he keeps growing, we'll be fine.

I think he showed some of it last yr when we got behind in dallas and he led us down the field but ended up throwing an int,I'm bracing myself for a dallas blowout, but if JC can somehow pull it out,I hope theres room for me to jump on his bandwagon

Re: Look who's eating crow?

The last two games I've been so proud of the skins they have put up points last year we struggled a bit to produce 20+ points on the board. JC has been awesome and give the props to Zorn for bringing out the best in JC so far. I'm excited and if the defense can stop Dallas from putting up big numbers on the board I like our chances next week.

Re: Look who's eating crow?

WC offense takes a while to master, JC is looking good and all he is doing is playing small ball you figure next season when Moss, Randell, Cooley, Thomas, Kelly and Davis have a year under their belt and JC has a better feel for the younger recievers Watch out i always try to have faith in our draft picks, although i've been hurt in the past.

I would have to agree with you, but it's only been two games. I really hope JC will continue to perform as well under pressure and in big games. Dallas will tell us a lot about him I think.

Re: Look who's eating crow?

We are supposed to rate a team based on their body of work. JC has not only changed my opinion of him, but entire NFL is watching to see how long he can run an offense and not turn the ball over. I think the Giants defense is much better than Dallas's and Jason took one sack on the first play of the game and never turned the ball over. 93 attempts without an INT is more than immpressive, it's superb. And the two wins reflect it. Here's to Jason Campbell. The QB we have been waiting for.

I couldn't agree more. She rarely has a positive word to say about anyone. I think her entire career has been built upon bashing atheletes. I recall a number of years ago during the Sydney Olympics, she had an entire article dedicated to the things she didn't like about Australia. She is paid to go and attend the Olympics and all she does is gripe. And for anyone who has been to Sydney, it's a pretty fantastic place. She's awful.
