Hamilton released and Doughty IR'd? That leaves the safety position pretty dubious behind Horton and Landry. Kareem Moore and.... ??? Two rookies and Laron. Basically if either starter gets hurt we're effed...

Paging Omar Stoutmire. Omar Stoutmire please report to the Redskins.

Omar may be employed by someone else, not sure.

This could actually work out for us. I know that he is not as physical as a runner than Portis but he could help Portis with his patience with the running game. Alexander could actually be a little benefit to Portis in this Seattle west coast offense. A league minimum.

Springs can also play safety if needed.

Sucks for Doughty, I didn't realize his injury was that serious.

As for Alexander at the vet min there's not much to hate. If he's healthy and hungry it just might be a steal.

Well with a one year deal there will be allot for him to play for to show he is not washed up.

I would look for Springs to be an option at either safety position if Landry or Horton get injured. I'm not sure whether the coaches trust Moore just yet. It sounds as if he should have been blitzing on the Avery play that set up the winning FG for the Rams.

I'd prefer getting Marcus Mason back over Alexander. Mason was great in the preseason, knows our playbook, and I thought earned a shot anyway. Someone is going to be smart enough to pick that guy up sooner or later.

Dont really know anything about Mike Greens career, but wiki says he was the last player taken some years back in the draft and is from Louisiana. Besides the coaching connection he might also be a good role model for Horton.

i think that the skins picked alexander over mason because they were sure about his ability, and they were'nt sure about mason's.

I am actually comfortable with only carrying four safeties. Michael Green is coming in and he will be just a special teamer, but I am comfortable with Chris Horton and Kareem Moore manning the #2 and #3 safety positions. Obviously Horton has been really impressive as a starter and I expect him to continue that, and I think Kareem is really coming into his own with all of this playing time he has been getting, sure he made the mistake not blitzing on that pass to Avery but I think he will only get better with more experience.

I wish we had gotten Mason back - that boy can run - but the coaching staff said he was not a good blocker, which would make him a liability in the passing game.

If I were Alexander I would be both healthy and very hungry. Given that we got him for as close to free as possible, the Alexander move is not a bad one.

Michael Green played well at safety for Da Bears in the early 2000's. The last couple of years he has battled injuries and was cut by Seattle at the beginning of training camp this year. If he has healed, he could be a good pickup. However, I expect to see much less of the Cobra defense.
