Re: Favre commits Treason on former team
If its not his team anymore how can he commit treason? I dont have a problem with players informing on their former teams (it happens all the time) but I dont like the part where Favre called Det on his own. If Det had called and asked about GB's offense I wouldnt have a problem with Favre talking but for Favre to call out of the blue bothers me.

EXACTLY!! He called them on his own. He's a crybaby who didn't get his way, so he resorts to classless behavior. |
Re: Favre commits Treason on former team
Favre is friends with Millen and was supposedly calling the Lions to speak with him about a hunting trip. Who knows what the extent of the call was exactly, but I would think this is pretty common. What's the difference between this or signing a division rival in camp only to pick his brain?

It may be classless and poor sportsmanship but it isnt treason. |
Re: Favre commits Treason on former team
[QUOTE]The idea that a player might be willing to spill secrets about his old team certainly isn’t new in NFL circles. It’s almost expected that when a player leaves one team and joins another, he will share inside information with his new coaches—especially if they were preparing to play against his old team.

Re: Favre commits Treason on former team
Favre is to hung up on being a gunslinger, his feelings where hurt when GB didn't want him cry baby

I agree that this happens all the time when guys change teams but Det isnt Favre's new team and for him to call them is what doesnt sit quite right with me. I dont have a big problem with him doing it but IMO it seems petty to me. Also, I know he is friends with Millen but I though Millen was gone before this call was supposed to have happened. |

Re: Favre commits Treason on former team
OH MY GOD! Call Godell and start the investigation! I wonder if Bellichicken was involved?
IT MEANS NOTHING! All players do it when they leave one team and go to another. Especially QB's. There have been Qb's that were signed just to get info from them then they were cut later. Untwist your panty's, pull them out and breathe. |

And to suggest Brett is anything but a class act is ridiculous ignorance. Garbage rumor meant to stir up bullshit IMO! |
Re: Favre commits Treason on former team
more power to favre!wtf would you want an unchallenged qb over a proven 16 year vet?
and anyway, the packers most certainly changed a lot of plays to be on the safe side. |

Cause he's a crybaby!! He kept retiring for like 4 consecutive years and say I'll make up my mind during the offseason and let you know before the season begins. Finally GB said enough is enough, he's just an attention getter who wants to be in the headlines all the time. |

what does this current situation have to do with him being a "crybaby"? |

Re: Favre commits Treason on former team
not a cry baby either, get a hold of yourselves........this guy is an icon and played what 16 years with one team. never missed a freaking game either, the cry baby is mccarthy the front office and rodgers for his pathetic display on draft day....now that is a crybaby, sorry you were the 27th overall pick

It is not easy to walk away from the game. We love it, imagine how much a sucessfull player like Farve loves the game. He is older and his body at the end of the 2007 season was telling him to retire. But a month into the offseason he felt better and he changed his mind. Don't blame the guy for that. There are no right or wrongs in this type of situation. If anything the Jets are doing well and it looks so far like he made the right call. Give the guy a break. At a time where there are not enough good QB's to go around in the NFL, we should welcome the chance to see Farve play another year. Maybe you are a huge Kellen Clemens fan? The Jets 2nd string QB? Do you enjoy watching lame QB's like Brodie Coyle and Bruce Gradowski play? Or would you rather watch Farve? |
Re: Favre commits Treason on former team
I was listening to Jay Glazer, who broke the story, and he said he stands behind his sources "1000 percent" and that to break a story like this a reporter must be sure it is correct.
|
Re: Favre commits Treason on former team
Farve is one of the all time greats. For all he has given to GB they give him the door. If he got a little payback so be it.
|
Re: Favre commits Treason on former team
I've always liked Favre but he's moved down a notch with my respect if this is true,it may not be treason, but it is very classless IMO,I would expect more class from Favre. Now if the part is true that he was calling Millen about a hunting trip and Millen picked his brain, then thats different
|
Re: Favre commits Treason on former team
Snore. If he called then I guess that's bad. If he didn't call then I guess that's good. I had chili today.
|
Re: Favre commits Treason on former team
Honestly, I have a good knowledge base of what the Packers are going to do next week. Its up to the Packers to execute. Its obvious that the Packers didn't execute the offense well. Definitely don't blame Favre!!! You can always audible to safer plays if you think the other team knows your playbook.

Re: Favre commits Treason on former team
who gives a shit! green bay f'd up by letting favre go...after all that favre has done for them. the green bay organization was the one comitting the classless act.

I don't know if I believe this story. If true, I don't know that I believe the "hunting trip" part. But, this story aside, I agree. I liked Favre until he "retired." He certainly had a right to un-retire, but the way he went about doing it was classless. Green Bay drafted TWO qb's, leaving the writing on the wall that they had moved on for everyone to see, but Favre still managed not to see it and created a circus. It doesn't matter whether or not the Pack was right to move on, the fact is they did, and Favre needed to deal with that better. To those who say that the Pack "owed" him something, I say they already were doing him 12 million favors a year. It's a business and Favre should know this. Montana had to go to KC and Unitas had to go to San Diego, but they did so with far fewer theatrics and far more class. BTW Favre has more interceptions this year than any other QB except O'Sullivan. |

Ok, I had my timeline off a bit. |
Re: Favre commits Treason on former team
I heard Jay talking about it too yesterday on Rome. The one thing that concerned me was Rome asked Jay if he called Brett on this before breaking the story just to get his side and he said no. He seemed irked that all summer when all the drama was going on Brett would only talk with ESPN, so he felt he didn't owe Brett that courtesy.

When asked about this, Rod Marinelli said "no comment", which IMO is pretty damning.

Wow, I hadn't heard that. Damning is right. There was a time when Favre was my favorite non-Redskins player ever. That time has passed. |
