Re: I Called Out Sick To Work For Fable 2
I was a huge fan of Fable 1, so much in fact that I got re-hooked on it this summer.
I haven't touched my 360 since football season began, pretty much because I had it last year with EA Sports' "attempt" at a football game. But I'll be sure to dust the thing off when my copy of Fable II arrives! |
Re: I Called Out Sick To Work For Fable 2
It looks pretty good, sadly having a six month old in the house doesn't lend me a lot of time to play RPG's.
Anyone try Dead Space yet? |
Re: I Called Out Sick To Work For Fable 2
Dead space is like if Resident Evil and Bioshock got it on and had a kid. F-n sweet!!
Hey JG, have you pulled off any of the co-op spells? |
Re: I Called Out Sick To Work For Fable 2
I can't play games AND watch football all weekend, the wife wouldn't go for that.
Fable II will have to be played at work, no other option. |

I'm guessing he meant RE4.

Man that stinks if its what I think it is. I was never opposed to RE4's playing style (new camera angle) what I hated was the less then scary enemies, especially after Remake managed to scare the crap out of me. The game felt like fighting a bunch of albino omish people with enough ammo (on Leons part) to supply Iraq for a year. With that said from what I hear Dead Space is pretty damn scary especially the parts where monsters act like they're dead only to come out of nowhere and attack you. Still can't hurt to rent it, thats like low risk high reward. |
Re: I Called Out Sick To Work For Fable 2
I liked RE4 and I thought it had a pretty spooky atmosphere to it. But then again I'll admit I never played any of the previous three in the series.
What's the scariest game you've played dirtbag? |

What's the scariest game you've played dirtbag?
Wow, thats quite a menu. I'd say pretty much the entire Silent Hill series scared the living daylights out of me. Silent Hill 1 especially when I was younger and I barely got through the first part of the game (I've recently been catching up on it through the use of emulators and while it's not as scary as I remember it's still pretty frightening), while with Silent Hill 2 I had a lot of trouble completing mainly because I was to scared at times to play it alone at times. I'm still to scared to finish Silent Hill 4 even though I'm under the impression that I'm almost done. Seriously there would be times where the hairs would stand up on my back and I would be to scared to look, mainly because theres a lot of parts with enemies that you can only knock out makes the game become even scarier. However if you ever get a chance try the Resident Evil 1 Remake, thats probably by far the best game in it's respective series. Best comination of graphics, story, voice acting, and most of all scares. I've actually been thinking of buying it as it cost $20 for the game and $40 for a Gamecube at Gamestop. Resident Evil 3 is also pretty scary due to a creature called Nemesis that follows you around but it has a pretty bare bones story. Resident Evil 2 had one of the better stories but got beat out when Remake was made. So with all that I'd have to say Silent Hill 4 was the scariest game I've ever played, given the fact that I was 21 when I first played it and it still continues to be freak me out. |

They never finished that story and it was a decent game. Ever looking for a game to kill a lot of time try Advance Wars, it is on DS now but I started on Gameboy Advance. |

Great game. I'm surprised they haven't put out a sequel.
I actually never heard of it let alone play it. However I did just watch this video and it made me jump so if I ever buy a Gamecube again (or get a computer strong enough to emulate it) then it might be worth it to check it out. The funny thing is when I was watching the video my first impression was what the hell is with the cartoonish like colors. I now regret those words. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3uZOxlpt1vQ"]YouTube - Eternal Darkness Bathtub scene (spoilers!)[/ame] Also another game I would like to recomend to PS3 owners who like scary stuff would be Heavy Rain. It comes out next year and it seems like a combination of a horror story and Shenmue. (FYI the maniquins are dead bodies). Though now that I think about it it seems more thriller then horror. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akNbviQfddI"]YouTube - Heavy Rain (PS3) Games Convention 2008 trailer[/ame] I've also been meaning to check out Fatal Frame sometime in the future. I heard that it was even scarier then Silent Hill. FEAR is also suppose to be scary and it has its moments from the little I've played but I'm under the impression that theres way to many "normal" enemies to be scary. Still the beginning did a good job of putting the fear of God in me. |
Re: I Called Out Sick To Work For Fable 2
Eternal Darkness had some wacky hallucination type effects in it to F with you.
Check it out: Sanity effects The game's standout concept, patented by Nintendo,[2] is the "sanity meter", a green bar on screen which is depleted under various conditions, generally when the character is seen by an enemy. It can be restored under various conditions, such as performing a "finishing move" on an enemy. As the bar becomes low, various effects occur, reflecting the character's slackening grip on reality. If the bar remains empty, further damage to sanity decreases the player character's health. One effect which is consistently used is a skewed camera angle accompanied by whispers, cries, and other noises. The lower the sanity meter, the more skewed the camera angle and the louder the sound effects. Fourth wall breaking effects include simulated displays with messages apparently produced by the TV or the GameCube; this does not affect gameplay unless the player misconstrues them as actual technical malfunctions and turns off or resets his or her system, thereby losing all progress made since his or her last save. There are many different sanity effects, the amount they last depends on each effect, and not all effects will necessarily be encountered during a given run through the game. A few more commonplace examples include: Sounds, such as footsteps, women and children screaming, doors slamming, the rattling of chains and the sound of a blade being sharpened. Walls and ceilings bleeding. Attacking them causes more effusion. When casting a spell, the player character's body above the waist violently explodes. Appearance of large numbers of monsters that are not really there, and disappear when attacked. Some sanity effects are character-specific and reflect the individual's personal fears or experiences. When the sanity effect is finished, everything goes back to normal and the character often utters a panicked statement, usually something along the lines of "This can't be happening!" Aside from the "video" effect, a number of these effects, most notably the tilting-floor feature, were reused in the boss fight with Psycho Mantis in The Twin Snakes, a Silicon Knights/Konami remake of the original Metal Gear Solid. Re: I Called Out Sick To Work For Fable 2
Change game in thread title to Fallout 3.
Omfg, I love this game. Must buy. |
Re: I Called Out Sick To Work For Fable 2
So Fallout 3 is good? I was thinking of getting that or GOW2. I am waiting for the reviews of GOW to come out and will most likely buy whichever one sounds better. My 360 is broken now anyway (had red rings of death repaired and they sent me a new Xbox that didn't work either, bastards) so I'm in no rush. But I've read most of Fallout3's reviews and it definitely sounds like the kind of game I'd love.

The first one was one of my absolute favorite games of all time. I'm too busy to play games that take like 40 hours to beat. I like a nice tight 8-10 hour game like COD4, GOW, or Bioshock. That's the reason I passed on Mass Effect and Oblivion, why I never finished GTA4, and also why I'm reluctant to take the plunge on Fallout. So I'll probably end up going with Gears. Looks amazing. |

Yeah I agree. I like a game that I can play through in a reasonable amount of time. Back in the day I loved games like Zelda that went on forever, now I just lose interest. |
Re: I Called Out Sick To Work For Fable 2
Fallout 3 looks really tempting but may cause a divorce. Right now I am trying to finish the Dark Tower series by King. I am on book five about 2000 plus pages to go. IT is a great story if you ever get the chance.
GOW 2 is a definite must have. |
