Twitter
Anyone else on twitter yet?
I signed up recently and I still can't figure out what it's all about. If someone can enlighten me please do. Twitter: What are you doing? |
Re: Twitter
I don't get it either, but it's soooo popular and I suppose it's not much different than us having a gameday thread. It would be kind of cool if one of us was at a game and Twittered all day for Warpath member exclusively. GTripp, you on it?
|
Re: Twitter
It's very much like Facebook's "status" where people say what they are up to. It's pretty much people bitching about work or relationships LOL.

And they are probably on their office computer complaining about work. |

Sounds like Twitter is what people do instead of living life. If you're at a game, you should be watching it instead of getting on your cell phone every 5 minutes providing updates you can get on Sportsline for free. |

No I'm talking about stuff you can only see at the game. Like sideline exchanges, pregame stuff, etc. |

OK, I can see that. I stand by my first sentence though ("Sounds like Twitter is what people do instead of living life."). I think social networking has moved passed the "healthy balance" point. People spend more time texting and updating their Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, etc. than actually interacting with people face-to-face. That's what my  was directed toward. |

No, not really. |

Just messing with ya. On a serious note, other than this site I do not do myspace, facebook, or any of that other crap anymore. I decided about a year ago that it isn't very professional and it can be held against you, regardless of if that type of judgement it is fair or not. |
Re: Twitter
That's a good point - there have been a few articles lately about social networking sites being used as character evidence against people.

Re: Twitter
Twitter seems like a good marketing tool. Anytime you have a new product or service available just post it on your Twitter account. All people who are interested in your product/service, suchas your followers, will be notified without you having to do much work. I am an efficiency of energy supporter.

How is that different from a blog, or RSS, or email notifications? |
Re: Twitter
Not really sure how to differentiate between any of those formats from smoke signals and reflecting mirrors but at least these guys have given it a try:

Re: Twitter
I've been on Twitter for some time, and generally speaking I hate social networking stuff. Not into Facebook, don't do any of that stuff for the most part.
I'm a web designer so I'm on a computer all day anyway and Twitter has turned out to be hugely helpful. I can ask a question and get an answer or link from dozens of people within minutes. It has turned out to be a huge time saver on occasion, but also a huge time waster just trying to keep up. Oddly enough you get to know some cool people and I've found a number of freelance design jobs through it and made some great work connections. |
Re: Twitter
I use myspace to keep in touch with family and friends who live far away. I do not like to talk on the phone. I am an anti phone person when it comes to visiting. I love spending time with people and have a lot of fun, but I hate being on the phone with someone, unless I'm selling or doing business of some sort. Myspace and text messages probably make up 70% of my communication with 60% of the people I know.

Re: Twitter
Those two dumbasses didn't have the combined brainpower to rob the gun dealer, let alone pull of a presidential candidate assassination.
What a waste of oxygen... |

They spent more time planning their costume than the actual logistics. Doesn't really even sound like a "plot" to me as much as it sounds like a couple of losers sitting around one day, got stoned out of their minds and started thinking up dumb shit. |
Re: Twitter
It's amazing that skin color breeds so much hate. I don't get it.

I'd be willing to bet that it's the parents that bred so much hate. In my experience, where you find ridiculous, irrational hatred like this, you find the exact same thing in the parents. |
Re: Twitter
Then again maybe this is just that damn liberal media again cooking up a story to generate sympathy for Obama.

 Why's it always gotta be like that? |
Re: Twitter
Was the letter M carved upside down on their faces?
Honestly though, it's environment and sheer ignorance. I know diversity is frowned upon these days but when you interact with people you learn about them and how much you have in common instead of just simply watching TV and listening to those around you who know as much as you and nothing more. |
