re: Boschetti back in, Alexander cut
We gave almost nothing for Erasmus James and still got ripped off.
|
re: Boschetti back in, Alexander cut
i look at the other way. at one time, James was a good player. it was worth the risk( which was next to nothing)

I agree. I think the risk was worth taking and there is no doubt it was a risk. It was worth it even more because of the help we needed at defensive end. Unfortunately, he couldn't provide it. I suppose this move could be in response to Golston being hurt? |
re: Boschetti back in, Alexander cut
Sean Alexander released, Boschetti to sign.

re: Boschetti back in, Alexander cut
What I don't get is why there wasn't an explanation for why Erasmus wasn't on the field. What was all this talk about him reuniting with his college coach and getting his weight down so he could get back into playing shape? Is Boschetti really the answer? He's never sacked a QB in the NFL!

re: Boschetti back in, Alexander cut
You've gotta feel for Alexander. Guy is the league MVP one year and dumped in the trash a few years later. That's got to be humbling or worse, depressing.
|
re: Boschetti back in, Alexander cut
I'd rather see Alexander let go than Rob Jackson. I'm interested in seeing how Jackson can do in a game. He seems to have a knack for getting to the quarterback. Erasmus James? I don't know what the deal with him is.
|
re: Boschetti back in, Alexander cut
I don't know about James, he probably would have been released anyway. So, I tend to think we wasted a pick on him.

That's what the NFL does to RBs. Pounds 'em into the dirt and then leaves 'em for dead. Brutal business really. |
re: Boschetti back in, Alexander cut
I love the "fans" who see nothing but negativity. As someone said we gave practically nothing for a shot at James and got nothing. I think we probably under paid in the first place. Considering our need along the defensive front and James' age what we paid was somewhat of a deal. He didn't work out. So what? No one hits 100% in the personell game despite what the FO nay-sayers want to believe.
|
re: Boschetti back in, Alexander cut
I wonder if Boschetti called Cooley to see if he'd had a piss test lately...:laughing-

Am I missing something? Did Erasmus James get cut? Given the severity of his knee injury last season, it wasn't likely he'd give us much this year anyway. If his knee stays healthy and he continues to work with the team, he could contribute in '09.... |

I see alot of positives w/ the Skins but I also will point out when I think otherwise. It wasn't the worst deal in the world. I just pointed out that I remember seeing somewhere that he was going to be released anyhow. Hey, but it's mostly hindsight now. He didn't work out. |
re: Boschetti back in, Alexander cut
Anyone know what happened to Johnnierotten? Have'nt seen him on here lately.

Another viewpoint is he was fortunate to run behind one of the most dominating offensive lines in recent memory, The result was a monster contract he didn't deserve. He was never the best back in the league nor will he be remembered when anyone talks about the greats of the game. it would be ironic if he ended up in Arizona playing with Kurt Warner. |
re: Boschetti back in, Alexander cut
James has been in on a few games but I think only to spell Wilson when Taylor was injured. There is nothing mentioned about James in any of the articles so not sure why his name was brought up? James is a DE not a DT which we need cause our line/DT are all banged up.

which really scares me about CP, weve ridden that horse harder than any other rb the past 2 years after his injury season. thank god he started to condition himself this past offseason and hopefully he will continue with it. So long E James but if you keep working to get back to 100% I could see us bringing you back for training camp to compete next year. go skins!!!!!! |
re: Boschetti back in, Alexander cut
I dont think James has been released guys, Springs was cut and then shortly after we added Boshetti. And I think James is still recovering from some nasty knee injuries, if he helps, it wont be this year. Atleast Ryan knows the D and he was playing well this pre-season...plus Blache loves him.

Nahhhhh that dude GOT PAID before he was trashed! I think it was something like 8 million. He's not depressed he's going back to his island in the bahamas for some margaritas and daquaris and whatever else they drink down there. :) |
re: Boschetti back in, Alexander cut
James out? When was he ever IN? :D
|
re: Boschetti back in, Alexander cut
James was not a bad pick up. First of all, he has not been cut, second of all, JLC hates James and wants to make all decisions by the Redskins look stupid. James has been injured for three years, he may just need a good off season a to be explosive again. If not, we gave up a 7th round draft choice for him. 5th thru seventh rounders have the same chances of making the team as free agents. Not realy a big deal. Now getting Deangelo Hall for nothing, thats amazing.
|
re: Boschetti back in, Alexander cut
This whole thread is a bit odd. I don't think James was cut. Neither was Springs. Shaun Alexander was cut and Ryan Boschetti was signed.
|
Re: Boschetti back in, Alexander cut
I updated the thread title to reflect what actually happened.
what makes you think this?
Blache called Boschetti a coaches dream. He said if his talent matched his heart he would be a HOFer. |
Re: Boschetti back in, Alexander cut
Thanks Matty...Alexander was cut, Boschetti is in.
The Skins didn't mess with anyone else. My only question is what kind of shape is Boschetti in. These big guys get flabby pretty quickly. On the other hand....I really think he should have made the squad to begin with. The only reason he didn't is because we kept so many DE and WRs. Bochetti is not a huge dropoff from Golston. We got really lucky that he was available....you'll see. He'll help us stay competitive in the middle...otherwise, we'd be using DE's at DT about half the time, and that aint good long term. We needed help for the next couple games to heal up. GREAT MOVE front office!! |
Re: Boschetti back in, Alexander cut
S. Alexander was a stop-gap measure at best, his release shouldn't surprise anyone (including SA), as soon as Betts returned he became obsolete. So much for the crybabies who complaint about the team picking up SA instead of Marcus Mason.

I agree. He may pay off next year. I haven't even seen him on the field. SO maybe they are taking their time with him. Does anyone know anything about this? I would love to know more about this situation. Because he really hasn't played or Rob Jackson for that matter. Maybe they will pay off next year and we will draft more D-Lineman and O-lineman and then hopefully two or three defensive lineman will pan out. I also expect Devin and Malcom to pan out it just will probably take more than one year. Patience my friends patience. This might just work out in the end. |

At best it was not a stop gap measure. he did nothing..11 rushes for 24 yards? No one is cry babies..Just realized Mason could have contirbuted more than an old dried up hs been..But its done and over..Put it to bed. |
Re: Boschetti back in, Alexander cut
Welcome back Bos! I hope that you can get after the qb, and stop the run better than the current crop of guys we have.
|
Re: Boschetti back in, Alexander cut
I honestly think it's a case of having to many DE's that at least expect to play. And in our case Chris Wilson is better then James. Jackson is also an interesting prospect that might be worth keeping around not to mention the fact that he's cheap.
While we're at it does anyone know whats going to happen next year to Daniels (specifically his $2 million cap numer) and Buzbee? |

While we're at it does anyone know whats going to happen next year to Daniels (specifically his $2 million cap numer) and Buzbee?
I've read where Daniels wants to come back next year, but with the number of DE's we have it's hard to say what will happen. If he doesn't play, I personally think he might make a good coach. Hard to say about Buzbee. Who we get in the draft will probably be a deciding factor. I think there is about a 117 thousand dollar release fee for Daniels next year and 0 release fee on Buzbee. |
