Plaxico Shot in Club

Plax was accidentally shot himself in a club. Fortunately, it sounds like he will be okay.

Re: Plaxico Shot in Club

I would avoid making jokes out of this situation as (1) a gunshot wound, even if it is not life threatening, is a serious injury and isn't really funny and (2) making such jokes in front of Giants fans will likely provoke a response that involves ST.

GMScud 11-29-2008 12:02 PM

Re: Plaxico Shot in Club

I will not joke about this, because it is obviously very serious. But after everything that has happened since Darrent Williams/ST were murdered, after everything the league has done to raise awareness, WTF is he doing in the club at 2am with a loaded gun in his belt?

Jokes aside, Plaxico is a fool for this. However, I am very glad to hear his injuries are not life threatening, and I hope he makes a full recovery.

Glad to know he nurses his injuries at a nightclub with a loaded pistol... But good thing he's ok

Re: Plaxico Shot in Club

Sadly I think most NFL players have got it into their heads that they need some kind of loaded weapon or large security team just to stay safe... and they're probably right

Although Plaxico does look like an idiot heading straight for a nightclub as soon as he's cleared not to play Sunday and then shooting himself..

Re: Plaxico Shot in Club

What are the chances he is suspended for the rest of the year?
Illegally discharging a weapon in a public place is a felony. I know he says it's an accident but I don't think that really matters. Also, Does he have a permit to carry a concealed weapon?

I think it's time for someone to step up and save him from himself before we lose another NFL player.

He shot himself in the leg, what an idiot!! What's is he doing carrying a gun in a nightclub? This is the distraction that we needed.

Glad to hear he's okay but life threatning or not gunshot wound is serious, the mental aspect alone.

one of my friends dad's was shot in the leg and everytime he would hear a loud bang or a car backfire he would relive it, it was some scary stuff

???? He's been acting like an idiot all season, and the only thing hurt by his antics is his on the field production. He's been fined, suspended, had a sideline altercation with Coughlin... and they are still 10-1. Just add this to the already long list of bonehead moves by Plax. I don't see it being a factor in the Giants' play whatsoever, IMO.

There is something wrong with that dude. Hopefully for him it's just a bit of a flesh wound and he didn't blow off his big toe.

If it was here in VA I don't think you can carry a gun into a night club even if you have a permit.

I'm almost positive you can't bring a gun into a club in New York even if you have a permit.

This situation isn't really funny, it just brings the player safety issue to the forefront again. I'm glad he's gonna be ok but all the same I think he's an idiot for bringing a loaded gun into a club.

Just curious whether a permit to carry a concealed weapon would make any difference here? Otherwise, yeah it would seem a suspension is in order. If the league does little or nothing it will look like there just picking on Pacman unfairly.

Happens to the best of us. :) Even though he's a Giant I hate to see Plax going down this road. He's a local product around here and the sky's the limit for someone with this much talent. I wish these guys would realize all that money will also get you the best pychological treatment money can buy. I would think the commish would have to step in on this one. Hopefully he won't continue to throw away the talent he's been blessed with.

I'll say I was curious to see what the Skins fans reaction was to this incident and I'm glad to see that in general, everyone is pretty respectful.

Seems like everyone agrees it is a good thing that it wasn't more serious and that he really needs to start taking his life/career more seriously.

I don't thnk Plax has been involved in anything like this before as opposed to Pacman who has been arrested 6 times while in the NFL.Pax is stupid ....no argument he did'nt hurt anyone else but himself and his teamates.

You suspend a player for shooting himself? The only issue right now is if NY presses any charges againt him for breaking any laws that might apply. He is out of the hosptal and I heard his injury will not in danger career.

It reinforces everything we already knew about his lack of maturity. Just hours after he's ruled out for the game, he says F-it and goes out strapped to the club to party till all hours of the night. Now there's a man with class and work ethic.

I don't understand the need to be in clubs. Especially at his age. If he was 23 or 24 years old, maybe. But he's 31. I'm 30, and I haven't wanted to go to clubs for a while now. Everyone is different- I understand that - but we all know damn well if he wanted to party with girls, music, and booze, he has the kind of money and connections to make it happen AT HIS HOUSE.

MEMO TO PRO ATHLETES: when you go out to public places late at night with guns and alcohol, bad shit happens.

A friend who knows one of the Giant trainers said,he'll be able to play in 2 weeks.Forget the state or the NFL,....what in the hell will Coughlin and the GM Reese do to him,he might actually owe the Giants money, big bonus money, could even null and void his contract.

I'd say that applies to anybody. Why would you even WANT to go to a place where you felt you have to carry a gun? Guns and alcohol don't mix. If you can't figure that out maybe you need someone to run your life for you. Just like you said, he said F-it, I'm going to party. Stuff like this reminds me of the Cowgirl fans who say they don't care about character. Clueless.

Exactly. This isn't Iraq, Afghanistan, or the Wild West. If you feel the need to carry, just don't go out. Not to mention he obviously doesn't know how to handle a gun either. Most people who carry a firearm at least understand how to use the safety. He's like Cheddar Bob from 8 Mile.

Plaxico and whoever else was in close proximity are all very lucky nothing more serious happened.

I get so damn annoyed when I see people with all this money and opportunity act like complete and total ungrateful d-bags.

Why go somewhere if you feel the need to carry a gun with you???? Especially in Manhatten. How do you shoot yourself in leg by accident? This guy is nothing but a big fat pain on the ass. Ask yourself this question. Would this happen to Eli Manning or Amani Toomer? No.

saden1 11-29-2008 05:49 PM

Re: Plaxico Shot in Club

It doesn't matter whether he brought it in with him for protection or not. What matters is that several things had to go "wrong" to get to a point where you shoot yourself. Thankfully no one else was shot and I'm sure he's glad he didn't shoot himself in the crotch.

Maybe some, but go on youtube and there is a tribute to sean taylor by a cowboys fan, it's very nice, I think you get those idiots who always want to throw gang, or life style in there but, the reality is, you never know how you will go, or what's coming next!

I am sure the Skins will jump at the opportunity to get him but I'm not sure if he is worth it. While Hall has his own set of problems I can't say I have watched enough of him to say that he's a lazy player where as in Plexico's case I have seen him ample of times where he's not just me-me-me but lazy has hell on the field.

You become a target when you choose the wrong places to hang out. There's a million places he could go were he would not have a need to carry a gun.

Re: Plaxico Shot in Club

I am for any America who feels like they need protection, and get a gun. The problem is that a lot of people think the gun fires itself. Being in the military for a while I've learned the importance of certain things, I'm guessing PB didn't. I'm sure he:
- Didn't have the gun in a holster, we can thank all the movies for that.
- Kept the weapon loaded, with round in the chamber
- Kept the weapon off safety.
Pistols won't fire themselves, but it doesn't take much if you have a double action pistol and you've already pulled the slide back and/or pulled the cocky mechanism back.
For all of you thinking of getting any type of firearm for personal protection, please get some trigger time and some classes at your nearest gun range. The people you are trying to protect could be the ones that end up getting hurt. Be safe people.
