Favorite Stand-up Comedian
 

I really like Mitch hedberg and and Dmitri Martin(I like that delivery style).

I saw the new Chris Rock standup, which was pretty hilarious. Also Bob Saget is absolutely hilarious in stand-up.

Pryor's the legend for me... for current guys, I really like Chappelle and Russell Peters. And Dane Cook is horrrrrible!

Chapelle is great. I also really like Lisa Lampinelli and Robert Schimmel.

Man it is hard to pick one. There are a lot of guys who do great work. Most have one awesome set and then just regular funny stuff. To me Chris Rock's first HBO special is seminal while his latter stuff is just funny. Lewis Black seems to bring the fastball as consistently as anyone in my opinion.

I'd say Black is at the top of my list simply because he has more sets that are just awesome to me. Plenty of people have one real good set but that's it.

I agree, Peters is good and Cook is terrible. Can't go wrong with the classics either.

As soon as I saw this thread I was thinking deja vu.

But since I like the topic at hand, I'd just like to say that I pretty much like any comedian that has ever done a show for Comedy Central. I've never been to any live comedy shows so that and HBO/ w/e are pretty much where I get my stand up from.

I also like Dane Cook's stand up but I still think he's a douche lol.

I like the storytelling of Bill cosby and Bob Newhart. I liked Richard Jeni as well the couple of times I saw him live. RIP to Mr. Jeni

You know I've seen my share, but I just keep coming back to Chris Rock. I think it's his facial expressions and intonation and what not. But the dude is funny. I remmeber during one routine, Rock must have dropped the f bomb at least a hundred times.

Oh, and Margaret Cho...whew buddy! Korean chick? She is funny as shit! Her impersonations of her mom are funny as hell. Someone should post a YouTube of her.

Mitch Hedberg is my all time fav. I'll check out Dmitri Martin per your reccomendation.

Took the wife to Bobby Slaton a few years back at the DC improv and he commented on her enormous rack. Proudest moment of my life. Great show, also.

I love ascerbic social commentary, it doesn't get any more biting that CR. He takes no prisoners. Needs to get back out there and rip up some small local clubs though.

Oh, and for 'odd' I like Eddie Izzard. Now [U]that's[/U] as fragmented a delivery as is possible.

I definitely agree about Hedberg, that man was classic. He's up there along with Carlin, Carlin's jokes were timeless classics imo because for me most of them still ring true today.

And I second the Demetri Martin recommendation. I have a lot of his stuff on my computer, I think his delivery is what makes it so funny imo. I find his stuff to be a lot better with visual aids though, which is why I recommend you check out his standup on Comedy Central Presents.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned jim gaffigan. minute for minute I think he's awesome, although he doesn't seem to perform all that often. Rock is different than he used to be - I can listen to his new stuff i.e. "don't kill the messenger" for several minutes w/o laughing.
