re: Zorn feels like worst coach in America.
i feel for the guy.
Credskins made a good point in another thread; Id like to see danny come out and give coach zorn a public endorsement that the organization is behind him, have full faith in him and that he will be the coach next year. come on danny, this is the time when an owner should be looking to instil alil confidence and leadership. (please dont publicly endorse him now and fire him this offseason thoo) go skins!! this is a great opportunity for danny to show us what hes learned the past 10 years. will he step up? will he show he knows when an owner of a team must be heard? |
re: Zorn feels like worst coach in America.
Snyder was embarrassed by the Skins losing to the Bengals. Of course Danny deserves a lot of the blame for having Vinny in the front office and for naming Zorn a head coach before his time. Bottom line: Snyder will fire Zorn and retain Vinny.
|
re: Zorn feels like worst coach in America.
Danny never talks to the press or releases a statement during the season unless something tragic (ST's death) happens. He won't be making a statement until after the season is over.
|
re: Zorn feels like worst coach in America.
Has Snyder ever said he might release Zorn?
|

Reverse, reverse! keep Zorn, fire Vinny "Yes Daddy Danny" Cerrato |
re: Zorn feels like worst coach in America.
That article just doesn't capture it. On TV he sounded so sad. He looked like he was about to cry! Made me want to give him a hug...............

re: Zorn feels like worst coach in America.
Would it be possible to hold onto JZ as an OC and sign someone else as a HC?

To be honest Zorn's biggest issue is theO so why would we want to keep him on as OC? |

i hope we keep Zorn if we don't i bet Seattle will drop Mora and go after their native son |
re: Zorn feels like worst coach in America.
Growing pains. Life lessons learned. It was good to hear him examine himself, and will ultimately benefit himself and his relationship with the team.
what doesn't kill you........ |
re: Zorn feels like worst coach in America.
I applauded Snyder when he hired Jim Zorn and I'm still on the Zorn bandwagon. I think we could be a much better team without some players making self serving statements. We need to have a good draft in 2009, but it's hard to do that when you've given up almost half of your choices.
|
re: Zorn feels like worst coach in America.
I'm fine with Zorn leading this team. I was glad to hear him take some of the blame and I think he's the kind of guy who will learn from his mistakes. He's learning on the job, but that's what happens when you hire a guy with no headcoaching experience. I think Gibbs felt a little lost his first year too, but he turned out pretty good. I think Zorn will too given the opportunity.

Sorry bud, but this keeping a possible lemon HC for the sake of trying to establish continuity is downright stupid. The guy has lost the team, as the season has unraveled before our very eyes. The last time we kept a coach for continuity's sake was when John Cooke was the owner and he stuck by Norv all that time. At least Norv had a decent offensive scheme going for him, not much else though. He didn't lose the team either, just was too laid back and didn't inspire them or give em a swift kick in the ass when needed. |
re: Zorn feels like worst coach in America.
I hope Zorn gets a chance & they fire the players that are laying down.
|
re: Zorn feels like worst coach in America.
Zorn is not the problem, it is our head office. Zorn deserves another shot. The growing pains of a new coach were delayed because of our early success. The fact we are 7-7 after aint too bad. Yeah I wish we could have played better throughout the whole season, but truth be told I saw us going 6-10.
Would it be possible to hold onto JZ as an OC and sign someone else as a HC?
Dude, why would you even want him as OC? His offensive scheme has already been figured out and makes Norv's offensive scheme look as genius as Martz's when he was on top with the Rams. Only thing I would make Zorn is a QB coach. He has no business as a OC, much less a HC. |

You are right and wrong. Our Front Office messed up after 2000 firing Marty because he wanted GM powers. Snyder gambled with Spurrier after Gibbs rebuffed the HC offer. The Spurrier "experiment" was a disaster, then he finally got Gibbs back on. Gibbs did get us to the playoffs again, but there was no magic to be had again. You are wrong with Zorn though. His system sucks and the players know it. You can't fit squares in round holes. THe personnel we have is built around the running game and a nice down the field passing game. Dink and Dunk negates the speed of both Moss and Randle El. Of course our WR's having the case of the dropsies compounds the problem, but we simply have the wrong personnel for his system. On top of that his system has been busted wide open and pretty much figured out by our opposition. Only way Zorn can be successful in '09 is by pretty much revising his current system or throwing it out completely. The WCo might work in the crappy NFC West, but in the East, where the beasts lay, you need to be able to throw the deeper ball. |
re: Zorn feels like worst coach in America.
So what players do you think are laying down?
Yeah, who is laying down? You want to get rid of non performers might as well gut the whole offense(minus a few players Cooley, Portis, Moss), but then you have to totally start over from scratch. ANd th at I think is what Snyder might be thinking. If you have to gut the whole thing, might as well bring in a proven commodity to do it. |
re: Zorn feels like worst coach in America.
So what players do you think are laying down?
They do appear flat to me. If you saw (I hate to even think it) Dallas play the other night against the Gmen. Their D was everywhere, and super fired up! We are not doing anything that resembles...that. Flat, no emotion. As bad as we have played, no one is noticibly, even mad? I don't get that? We NEED to find it to spoil the Eagles party this Sunday HTTR |
re: Zorn feels like worst coach in America.
I think its about time that Zorn has stepped up and put a check on himself. Now I can say that I have a small amount of respect for him. Usually he'll throw anybody on that team under the bus without taking any responsibility for his own actions.
Its about time... |

I've always liked Zorn, i just wish he would have re-thought his schemes a few weeks ago. He deserves another year though, but he better higher a qb coach and maybe some new blood on the coaching staff. |
i hope we keep Zorn if we don't i bet Seattle will drop Mora and go after their native son
I highly doubt Seattle would drop Mora, a guy w/ HC experience, for Zorn. However, I think you're on to something. Everyone assumes Zorn's departure would be a firing but I truly believe it's more likely he leaves of his own accord (partly because I don't think Snyder/Cerrato want to fire him after one season and partly because I really suspect Zorn will have had enough by season's end). So the scenario would be Mora as HC and Zorn as OC in Seattle. Zorn wouldn't have to deal w/ the media any longer - especially DC media - and overall would avoid the kind of scrutiny that has him looking like a nervous wreck. Bottom line: i really suspect Zorn is deciding whether the HC gig is for him (yet) and won't be surprised if we have a 2nd HC resign in two consecutive seasons. |
re: Zorn feels like worst coach in America.
There's been many times I've THOUGHT you were wrong Goat...but this time I really HOPE you are. :)

I sure hope not. One bad season is no reason to resign right away, unless he REALLY feels like coaching is not the thing for him. |

Well admittedly I'm wrong a lot, probably more often than not. Anyway I hope so too but thinking about it from Zorn's perspective worries me i.e. if he really did have the opportunity to be OC in Seattle, which is home in the first place, and avoid all the crazy media and scrutiny for probably a similar paycheck... not hard to believe he'd take it. Oh yeah, he wouldn't have to work for/with Snyder and Cerrato anymore either. Somehow I doubt that has been entirely enjoyable as these guys have egos that wouldn't fit in the stadium if it had a dome. |
re: Zorn feels like worst coach in America.
If Zorn left now, of his own accord, I think it would hurt his chances of becoming a head coach again. I don't think he would leave because it would be quitting and he would be considered a failure. At least I think that is how he would feel about it. I don't think that's his style. I really think he can win here and given a chance and a little support from the FO he will. Now....will he get that from the FO? Who knows?

Its about time...
AMEN Brother!!! I still feel that better days are ahead if we stick to the offense and get the young receivers involved as they improve. It doesn't matter what schemes we run on offense or defense if we don't get better in the trenches, especially through the draft. |
Re: Zorn feels like worst coach in America.
Ask Detroit if they'd like a rookie coach who can bring a .500 record.
Stupid statement. It's not Zorn's fault that key guys get hurt, the offensive line got old (and hurt) and guys are dropping passes and fumbling like Plaxico carrying his gun. |

Like a draft pick or two? |
Re: Zorn feels like worst coach in America.
I like Zorn... he hasn't really produced the results we as fans would have wanted. But 7-7 in his first year is decent all things considered. NOT giving him at least one more year would be beyond dumb in my opinion.
I like Zorn's attitude and demeanor. I think he has what it takes to be a HC. |

A good question and I don't know the answer. I would have guessed their would be remuneration at stake but nothing more. |
Re: Zorn feels like worst coach in America.
what a crappy situation after the great start i think its time to retool the team.Start with young fresh legs.LOOK AT ATLANTA fire vinny he blows
|
Re: Zorn feels like worst coach in America.
problem is Zorn has been rattled. If he's not working with a mental health pro now he will be by weeks end. He will quit and move next door to Mark Furman.

thats the key term there, possible. its not even a full season yet but yeah lets continue to mimic the raiders and trade zorn for some picks. we give JC years before making an evaluation of what type of player he is, rookie WRs get a 3 year grace period before we can expect production but lets fire our rookie coach who had us in the spotlight for a good 6 week span, bud. go skins!!! ps - your probaly right thoo, given our track record of always looking for the next hot name. i just dont agree with it but fan input does not matter to the front office. |
Re: Zorn feels like worst coach in America.
Zorn needs to be back if we're serious about comitting to the long term and trying to build something. You can't go one and done and expect to grow as a team. We'll be right back to square one next year with a coaching change.

Re: Zorn feels like worst coach in America.
He is.

Re: Zorn feels like worst coach in America.
Now he thinks he's "Probably" not the worst coach and that the presence of alot of redskins in the probowl is evidence that the offense is playing well....:food-smil

Not the worst, but he is up there. He wasn't/isn't ready to be a head coach. I think in about 5 years, he will. However, I don't want to wait for him to get good with 4 more bad years in DC. |
