OK... Let the Haynesworth Petition Begin!
DT Albert Haynesworth will be a UFA after the season.... Who's for it? Who says he's not worth the huge contract?
There WILL be a bidding war this offseason for sure... |
Re: OK... Let the Haynesworth Petition Begin!
dont need to give up to much, but yeah would love to see it
|
Re: OK... Let the Haynesworth Petition Begin!
No...We need to much other help to blow our wad on this guy.
|
Re: OK... Let the Haynesworth Petition Begin!
Naw, too many good DEs and DTs out this year from the draft. You can get them a lot cheaper in the upper to mid level rounds.
|
Re: OK... Let the Haynesworth Petition Begin!
After watching him stomp on a cowboys' face I'm all for it.
|
Re: OK... Let the Haynesworth Petition Begin!
This has all the earmarks of a Danny/Vinny fiasco, so, no, don't do it!
Only if we get a full uncapped thing happening. Then maybe. |
Re: OK... Let the Haynesworth Petition Begin!
How do you start a poll on here?

That's what I'm saying! |
Re: OK... Let the Haynesworth Petition Begin!
I only sign one petition at a time and i already signed the Bring Teixeira to Baltimore petition on the Baltimore sun. But yeah, im all for it unless i see us get Terrance Cody from Alabama.
|
Re: OK... Let the Haynesworth Petition Begin!
No thanks!! He'll come here and turns into a bust and our salary cap gets screwed. I rather build through the draft.

Seems like that's what happens to almost all the FA's we bring here. It's like the Skins turns good players into crap. |
Re: OK... Let the Haynesworth Petition Begin!
Do not sign him. This has overpaid free agent bust written all over it. Haven't you guys learned anything? We need to build through the draft.
|
Re: OK... Let the Haynesworth Petition Begin!
who are your selections for us to draft at DT???
|
Re: OK... Let the Haynesworth Petition Begin!
After the Andre Gurode incident I can't believe it but I'm in full support of bringing him here. I'm personally one of many that believes that our lack of a pass rush is due in part to our inability to get a push up the middle. Haynesworth doesn't just get a push but he's also capable of getting his own sacks. Also if it's financially feasable I would love to see him paired with Julius Peppers on the Left side. At that point with our secondary and our D-Line we would be unstoppable. Only thing left would be to sign a guy like Jordan Gross or bring in a Tackle with our first round pick preferably Michael Oher. Of course where we're going to get all the money to do this well only God knows where, but hey $24 million can go pretty far these days. Thats assuming of course that we're already under the cap when we let a bunch of people go.

big fat Terrance Cody from Alabama or Tyson Jackson from LSU |
Re: OK... Let the Haynesworth Petition Begin!
I would love to have him here. With the attention he commands we might actually be able to rush the passer, which would be neat.
|
Re: OK... Let the Haynesworth Petition Begin!
lets do it. solid dt is what we need. hes a good vet.
|
Re: OK... Let the Haynesworth Petition Begin!
I have to believe Tennessee will get him resigned to a deal before he hits the market. He is too central to that team.

A talented free agent in an area that we are in desperate need. It is either this or the offensive line, but we need help. I'm with you Dirtbag, I think the Defensive Ends have gotten all the attention, but our D-Tackles are not pushing up the middle. We can only get so much from the draft, but I believe we also need a good free agent for either line. |
Re: OK... Let the Haynesworth Petition Begin!
I don't like him. I think he's a dirty player to intentionally stomp on another person's head. Character is paramount, IMO.
|
Re: OK... Let the Haynesworth Petition Begin!
I love what he's done for the Titans this year. I don't like the fact that he waited until his contract was about up to become a dominant force, how old he is, how much money he'll demand and how he has very, very questionable character. The neys have it.
|
Re: OK... Let the Haynesworth Petition Begin!
If Albert Haynesworth came here and played to his capability, he would be the best DT in the history of the Washington Redskins by a wide margin.
He will be expensive to sign. The Oakland Raiders sort of set the market last year paying Tommie Kelly (their DT) about $13M a year for 4 years. Albert Haynesworth is significantly better than Kelly; the bidding for him will begin north of those numbers. I'm not sure this is a great draft for DTs - - although I do like Jeff Owens from Georgia. Here is what I would worry about with Haynesworth - - and it has NOTHING at all to do with his physical skills:
Some folks have thought that he does not play hard all the time and that he "takes time off" during games. That hasn't happened this year - - his "walk year". But what might happen next year with a fat signing bonus (north of $12M?) in his pocket and a roster bonus on hand for next year? You just never know...
|

Haynesworth is 27 yrs. old. He's been very productive during the past couple of years. He is in a very good defense, but he is talented. I've only heard of his one incident when he stomped on the Cowpoke, but that's about it. I mean the only big time free agent we got this past season, came from a team that went 1-15 last season and was getting a bit old (Jason Taylor). Haynesworth is a dominant DT in a good team with a dominant defense. I mean if he were to come here and be a bust then well that's just bad luck or our coaching sucks. But this would be a good football move to get a strong DT that can create a good pass rush and disrupt the opponents running play. |
Re: OK... Let the Haynesworth Petition Begin!
We might as well bring Sean Gilbert out of retirement.
|
Re: OK... Let the Haynesworth Petition Begin!
I would not sign Haynesworth right off the bat. If the economy is affecting lesser-market teams in order to drive down his price to ARE/Carter levels, I think he could be our solution at 3-shade tackle.
There's also the knee risk now that could make him not worth what we pay him. He's been a great player, you just have to let the market develop for him first. |
Re: OK... Let the Haynesworth Petition Begin!
No thanks. This guy has been in the league for a while now, he'll demand a huge contract, and he alone won't change anything. I'm ready to start shipping some of the older veterans out and working more towards youth. There's a thin line between a veteran savvy team and an old one.
|
Re: OK... Let the Haynesworth Petition Begin!
Anyone who doesn't want this guy is nuts. Immediate impact on the line. He is the best defensive lineman in football right now. I'd pay an arm and a leg to get this guy in a skin's uniform. Even if we kept the same pass rush as this year, with hanesworth anchoring the middle the sack total would got up exponentially

See, I tend to think that if we have to choose between a DE or DT, defensive tackle appears to be in better shape -- Golston, Montgomery, and Griffin while not world beaters are decent and can get the job basically done. Then you have Demetric Evans who can play in the middle along with Lorenzo Alexander who can also play. Our defensive ends, on the other hand are absolutely pathetic and cannot do what they're supposed to do. So if you have to go with one or the other, to me it has to be defensive end. |

Re: OK... Let the Haynesworth Petition Begin!
He only shows up on these contract years. Also he has blown a knee and has many many more on the field and off the field incidents since college that we are not discussing.

Anyone who wants this guy is nuts. With the history of FA signings that we have, and players looking at us like the golden goose-get a fat contract then go out and lay an egg; I would keep my arm AND my leg and go get some younger talent, and learn to develop good guys in house. I keep reading how bad the FO is, because of this bust, or these bad trades, but then free agency appears, and suddenly the best move is grabbing the biggest named player regardless of what the cost. Let's not kid ourselves, if they went and did get Haynesworth, this board would be filled with praise, until the first game he laid an egg, at which point the FO would have been stupid for slamming our salary cap with an expensive and non-producing veteran. |

Will they be available at 15-20? |
Re: OK... Let the Haynesworth Petition Begin!
I see this guy everynight on the news and he is not interested in staying here! He is a quality hard working big man. He alone could free up the other high price talented DE's to get the numbers we expect them to have. But most on here are right (as usual) too high of a price tag to waste cause we need more help then that...

Sadly I was thinking the same thing! It was a horrible thing to do, but the deep down evil side of me is glad it happened to a Cowboy if it had to happen to someone! He's a great player. If he's learned lessons and cleaned up his act, why not? He'd fill a position we've been ignoring for years. Hey...DeAngelo Hall is working out...I never thought it would... |
Re: OK... Let the Haynesworth Petition Begin!
I've come to realize that Redskins fans are bipolar. On one had we want the team to build through the draft and be patient, develop our own talent, and stay away from the big name free agents and the big money that goes along with signing these types of players.
But whenever a big name is out there, people fall all over themselves clamoring for the team to sign them. It's total insanity. |

Tyson Jackson will be and Albert Haynesworth is good but doesn't it seem weird that he only became dominant after Jevon Kearse came back to team with Vanden Bosch to give them and edge rush |
Re: OK... Let the Haynesworth Petition Begin!
This guy reminds me of Stubby Dick who was Defensive Player of the year for the 49ers then came here and just blew.
|

Mount Cody is only 19 years and a true freshman he would be a fool to come out early. He should stay at least two more years develop more under Saban. Now Tyson is a beast I would love to have a player like him. |
