Pro-Bowl to move to Miami in 2010?

IMO the Pro Bowl is the most useless "all-star" game in all of pro sports, but at least they are taking steps to rectify that.

Playing it a week before the Super Bowl in the same city will at least generate some interest in the event, and probably lend a little more significance to it as well.

I don't like it. Nobody from the Super Bowl teams would play if it has yet to be played.

Everyone knows the Pro Bowl is a fluff game and they're fine with that. The "competitive" all star game should be the Super Bowl that preceeds it. Why does the Pro Bowl need to be a competitive event? The fact that football is a impact sport makes it a wonder that they even play the game out in the first place.

Also the Pro Bowl kind of doubles as a paid vacation for the players and it should stay that way...Keep it in Hawaii.

Living down here near Miami I'm looking forward to it so I can go! Other than that I couldn't really care less when or where they play the game.

I think that would be the biggest drawback. Nobody playing in the Super Bowl would play. Plus I agree that the players look at it as a reward-vacation and some may not even play if it weren't in Hawaii. Going to Hawaii is one of the things that make it special.

That's a freaking horrible idea

They're saying that the Pro Bowl move is going to be a future bargaining chip for the Collective Bargaining Agreement talks. The NFL needed the acceptance of the NFLPA to make a move like this but did it anyway so they could use it as leverage in CBA talks down the road.

Looks like things might get ugly if the CBA goes unsigned next year. Goodell being new to his position doesn't seem like it will bode well for these talks.

I can afford my own too but I would feel better about it if it were given to me for a job well done.

The first year that they're planning to do this the Super Bowl is in Miami, so that's a good vacation spot, but what happens if the Super Bowl is in Minnesota, or Detroit, or Indy. Half the players selected don't want to go to the Pro Bowl anyway, so why give the other half another excuse to skip it?

Why does anyone really care?

I can't even remember the last time I watched a single play from the snore bowl.

The last play I watched in the Pro Bowl involved Sean Taylor introducing the punter to pro ball.

Even though it was just a punter, that was still one of the best hits I've ever seen.

If there was a football dictionary, that play would be the definition of "decleat."

Because not everybody is you. I watch it when I'm around, cool to see players interacting and just having fun in general. We got to see one of Sean Taylor's best ever hits in one.

What kind of ratings does the Pro Bowl get?

I think more people are in my camp than not.

I don't even think they should play a game. Just name the team and that's it.

Well it's not going to pull numbers like the other sports obviously. Most people's teams have been in offseason mode for several weeks by that time.

In a good year, I think I sat through one quarter of the Pro Bowl. John Riggins has said more than once that back in the day he hoped he was never chosen. His logic: why risk an injury on a meaningless game.

My point made here. Just imagine Sean's hit putting on a serious injury in a meaningless game. Imagine if Lawrence Taylor met Theismann in the Pro Bowl. I know I'm being hypothetical, but l concur with Riggins - if I'm gonna go down, make it worth my while.

Re: Pro-Bowl to move to Miami in 2010?

Dumb move! I enjoy watching the pro bowl every year. The rules change a little bit so you see ALOT more downfield passing. And the rules change a little bit more so you can, get this, ACTUALLY SEE GROUP CELEBRATIONS IN THE END ZONE! Even if its Chad Johnson leading the AFC squad to a line dance in midfield.................ITS STILL HILARIOUS! Especially when the NFC comes back from two scores down and then gets them back.

Or Tory Holt catching a bomb and then shooting people with the football. Heck, I can't wait to see what Portis is going to do if he scores this year! I like watching the probowl because they throw those dumb rules out the window. Rules made by stiff necked execs, who not only wear a jacket three sizes to small, BUT THEIR TIES TO TIGHT TOO!

Its fun seeing Bill Cowher decline a 15 yard unsportsmanlike penalty. Or seeing a lineman jump offside, try to pull up, but was just to darn big so he hits the quarterback anyway. No penalty flag was thrown. For unnecessary roughness that is.

And as other people have said. The players see this as a paid vacation. They bring all of their family and friends down and just have a good time. And they have a good time playing football too. As its all in just good fun. And noone takes it seriously. Trying to put this game in Miami would be alright, but putting this game in Detriot? Or Dallas? Or any of those ugly cities would just make players fake an injury like in the old school days and just not go. And then the probowl won't even be fun to watch.

"Is it going to be my knee or my ankle this time." Sonny Jerguson's Center to Sonny on the last drive of the season.

At the end of the season I'm jonesing for any type of football I can get since there won't be another game until August.

That's 7 months without an NFL game. The Pro Bowl is the finger licking part of the season and I love it!...it's finger-licking good!

That's the problem,it's not a college allstar game were you're being scouted. If one of your best hits is on a punter in the pro bowl....thats just sad.

Ummm, did you ever see some of Sean's hits? It's not like he needed to pick on punters to make the highlight reel. What's sad is that you feel the need to make a comment like that. If you know anything about the NFL, you know #21 loved to smash anything that moved on a regular basis, punter or not.

I agree, it is sad! I really wanted to see Reggie Wayne catch that pass in front of him! I was sooooooooo pissed off when Reggie pulled up! And when they moved Sean from Safety to defensive back.....................I understand they were trying to prevent injuries to recievers, but...........it was sad. It was real sad!

Thank God for the fake punt! It made a sad game enjoyable for Sean and his fans!

They ****ed it up!! The only change needed was to announce the pro-bowl players after the season is over. Changing the venue sucks and playing the game the week before the SB is stupid because none of the players in the SB teams will participate. MORONS!!
