Redskins vs. Giants predictions

Time to look ahead to week 2, what do you see happening?

jbcjr14 09-13-2004 09:09 AM

I'll be the first here Matty. I think the Giants will pose a little more problem for us defensively as they will try to shove the ball down our throats and run between the tackles. The defense will get a true test to see if they can stop the run. The skins will also need to fix the ST coverage or the G-Men will run one back on us. I think the coaching staff will have them ready, Skins 24 Giants 10.

bridaman51 09-13-2004 09:11 AM

Well it is a rivalry so I see it being a little better game. But I dont think the Giants have much espcially on Defense. I see another big game for Portis, and Coles will get a lot of action. I think Cooley will continue his good play. Shockey will have another subpar game, and I dont beleive Warner makes it through the game. Score will be 24-13

BrunellFan 09-13-2004 09:18 AM

I really think this is going to be a blowout- have you guys read all the stuff thats been happening over in Coughlin land? That team HATES him and wont lay it on the line for him. Skins 28-3

bridaman51 09-13-2004 09:20 AM

I could see that also. It is dicey over there, discipline is good but fining guys for showing up two minutes early. I always show up early I thought it showed that i was eager to work and learn.

MTK 09-13-2004 09:32 AM

This should be a relatively easy win for the Skins. Warner is a sitting duck just like BJ was, and the Giants OL is worse than the Bucs. I predict another big day for the defense as Warner will get dumped at least 3 times and will be pressured in to throwing a pick or two.

Barber could give us some problems but he's about all we'll really have to be concerned about. The Giants have some talented pass catchers with Toomer, Hilliard and Shockey, but Warner isn't going to have much time to throw.

Portis should have no problem posting another 100 yard day as the Skins roll with the running game and attacking defense to a 23-10 win in the Meadowlands.

bridaman51 09-13-2004 09:37 AM

I never consider a divisional game a easy game by any means. Baltimore went to Cleveland this weekend thinking about a relatively easy game and got stomped. Yes the Redskins are better and I beleive they will win and probably do it pretty handled, but by no means should the Giants be taken lightly. Warner will not make the whole game.

Jamaican'Skin 09-13-2004 09:54 AM

I'm thinking laong the lines of 24- 7. We saw what happened at the end of last year when the G- men wanted Fassel out of there. They were not willing to play for him, if this is the case for the G- men and Coughlin now, I really do not see them posing that much of a threat to a 2- 0 record at the end of next week.

That Guy 09-13-2004 10:14 AM

-No hand off errors

-taylor's first int/FF of his career

-better chemistry between QB/WRs

-more portis, this defense is BAD

-a better test for our defense (TB w/o pittman isn't exactly the KC gang)... at least this O is legit (though neither QB is ready to lead a team right now)

-many sacks, hopefully many stuffed runs...

28-3 (neither NY QB is worth much in the red zone)

That Guy 09-13-2004 10:16 AM

i think our biggest challenges this year are the iggles and vikes, followed by dally-land and lewis/lewis (now THAT could be a 3-0 stinker)...

bridaman51 09-13-2004 10:18 AM

I agree with those but I dont think the Bucs offense is that bad, and really dont think the Giants O is much better, I dont like Warner and Manning is not ready yet, they have better WR but I still dont see to much from that offense.

SmootSmack 09-13-2004 10:19 AM

I'll go with 17-3. I'll be interested to see how fired up the team plays. Will there be a bit of a letdown-week 2, weak team, no home crowd? Of course it is the Giants so I don't expect much of a letdown

Redskins_P 09-13-2004 10:28 AM

Skins D will come up with at least 3 turnovers, maybe a TD. Portis will have another strong outing, and the passing game will be much better since the Giants secondary is suspect.

Skins win big - 27 - 3

bridaman51 09-13-2004 10:29 AM

I am also a little worried about a let down, hopefully they stay pumped and keep laying on the field you know. I guess my worries stem from the last few coaching regimes were we would get a good solid win and the next week the team look like poopy.

EEich 09-13-2004 10:45 AM

31-6

backrow 09-13-2004 11:23 AM

My Two Cents!

HOF Coach Gibbs and "Our Washington Redskins": 21
midgets: 17

:twocents:

RedskinRat 09-13-2004 11:33 AM

I'd be really dissapointed if we didn't win by at least 21. D should post a shut out. Seriously.

saden1 09-13-2004 11:37 AM

My money is on Joe.

27-13 Redskins.

d151b 09-13-2004 11:51 AM

what is this i hear about coughlin fining some guys for showing up early for a meeting?

SUNRA 09-13-2004 11:56 AM

Out of all the acquisitions we made this year ( aside from Coach Gibbs, Coach Greg Williams has to be the most impactful. This man will blitz a team on a timeout! Did you see him working on the sidelines like a pitbull ready to tear another a**hole out of Brad Johnson? This defense has young LB's (Pierce, Washington) who can cover the middle and with Lavar free to attack this should be a clinic for the NY midgets. Warner nor Manning can take this kind of pressure. On the offense, Clinton left, Clinton right, Clinton down up the middle. Look for Darnerian McCants and Lavernues Coles to get a TD. Cooley and Betts perform well and we increase our winning streak to 2-0. Redskins 35, Giants 7

MTK 09-13-2004 11:58 AM

McCants wasn't even active this week. Kinda strange, but I'm guessing it will change week to week depending on the opponent and gameplan.

SUNRA 09-13-2004 12:01 PM
what is this i hear about coughlin fining some guys for showing up early for a meeting?
Coughlin fined Micheal Strahan and a couple of other players for arriving 2 minutes early. The man is a control freak. Reminds me of a man named Marty. Coughlin's philosophy is arrive two minutes early equals being late. If your'e 30 minutes early, then your'e on time? You figure it out.

bridaman51 09-13-2004 12:02 PM
what is this i hear about coughlin fining some guys for showing up early for a meeting?
Yeah it is said he fined Strahan $1,000 for showing up at a meeting at 8:23 for a 8:25 meeting. He was 2 minutes early and got fined. This is not the only time it has happened and there are several players taking it up with the PA. :coach:

SUNRA 09-13-2004 12:03 PM
McCants wasn't even active this week. Kinda strange, but I'm guessing it will change week to week depending on the opponent and gameplan.
I hope McCants doesn't become despondant. We need him. Thrash was in yesterday on Special Teams and one or two offensive plays.

MTK 09-13-2004 12:10 PM

Coughlin is ridiculous, I can respect what he's trying to do but there's a time and a place. The drill sergeant routine gets old quick especially with veteran players.

bridaman51 09-13-2004 12:28 PM

fine them for being two minutes late but early come on.

d151b 09-13-2004 01:08 PM

that is really the dumbest thing i've ever heard of a coach doing, excluding mike price. who, fines someone for showing up early? apparently, tom coughlin does. i sense a mutiny brewing aboard the giants ship.

crlesh 09-13-2004 01:33 PM

The Giants will have had a week of film study to prep for our defense but again, our D will win the game for us. Sean Taylor will begin to make his case for Defensive Rookie Of The Year with 2 forced fumbles and 1 pick. One of those will be returned for a touchdown as the Skins win, 38-13.

BIGREDSKINFAN63 09-13-2004 06:51 PM
I really think this is going to be a blowout- have you guys read all the stuff thats been happening over in Coughlin land? That team HATES him and wont lay it on the line for him. Skins 28-3
terry bradshaw went nuts over coughlin yesterday, said he was disrespecting the players.it's tough to play for a coach who fines you for arriving too early for a meeting.i think the redskins win big 34-10,i can see gibbs challenging his offense this week to put on a show like the defense did yesterday.i respect warner, but he is slower than johnson is.if the defense plays and blitzes like it did yesterday,he may be sacked 10 times.i just hope he does'nt get tkoed and manning come in and look like joe montanna jr.that seems to only happen to the redskins it seems.

BIGREDSKINFAN63 09-13-2004 06:56 PM

believe it or not, when mike shannahan coached the raiders he was like that.maybe that is why he only lasted one year there.the vikings had a coach in the 80s named les steckel who did the same and he lasted one year too.bottom line,if the players do'nt respect you you will not last long.steve spurrier could also fit that mold.

Sheriff Gonna Getcha 09-13-2004 07:54 PM

I do not see Warner or Manning standing up to our pass rush. I see a lot of fumbles if Warner is under center and a lot of interceptions if Manning is playing QB. The Giants offense should have a lot of trouble in the turnover department and provided Gibbs gets us out to an early lead (and keeps Barber off the field), I say we take em 24-13.

Bozzy 09-13-2004 09:21 PM

17-13 skins. Defense is great again, but the offense cools off as the game goes on again.

BrudLee 09-13-2004 09:37 PM

Warner's inability to handle pressure vs. Williams and his 11-headed blitzing machine?

The Dirtbags vs. a Giants defensive front that hates their coach?

Portis vs. a LB corps that gave up 119 to a scatback?

Redskins 24, Giants 3

Sammy Baugh Fan 09-13-2004 09:50 PM

I see a Redskins win.
I'd like to see more points on the board.
I'd like to see Rod Gardner catch better.
I'd like to see the Kick Off Special Teams get their ack together.
I'd like to see Arrington "welcome" Eli Manning to the NFC East His way.

Redskins 31, Giants 10

peace
mike

Gmanc711 09-13-2004 09:54 PM

We *should* absolutley kick the living chicken bleep outta this team. We just gotta make sure we dont overlook them, cause they got embaressed yesterday and will be looking to prove somthing at home. In any event, I dont think Gibbs will let us ease up and we should easliy win about 21-10 or so.

Warpath 09-13-2004 10:41 PM

I think that the Redskins D will surely show up as they were fired up for the Bucs. I see definitely a Defensive TD and probably another fumble or pick after that. Like mentioned above neither of NY's QBs are sorry and will not do much of anything.
The O, as long as limiting their mistakes, will be productive and with another good performance from the dirtbags Portis will break 125 on the ground.
I hope that special teams will get some work this week.
Unfortunately divisonal games are always close and I see this one as so, 24-17.
GO SKINS

NY_Skinsfan 09-14-2004 12:41 AM

I see us controling the clock like we did against maimi. Our offense clicking a little better in the passing game..The defense will be outstanding....Mr. Manning, say hello to Mr. Arrington....that's gonna hurt.

27-10, skins.

sportscurmudgeon 09-14-2004 03:07 PM

The Redskins are three point favorites over the Giants at just about every Las Vegas book and Internet book. I'm going to jump on that line with both feet before it goes up.

I like the Skins to win this in a walk. Final difference should be more than 12 points.

That Guy 09-14-2004 04:35 PM

man, normally vegas odd are a little more accurate a week out... that's a good deal.

rickmmrr 09-14-2004 06:35 PM

As long as they don't look past this game and learn from there mistakes from this past game. They should be all set.
