If Nothing Changes Come Draft Day, Who Would You Draft
Suppose we made absolutely no moves prior to draft day, no free-agent signings (other than maybe some camp bodies), and no trades for more draft picks this year.
If we assume the above, that leaves us with a 1st, 3th, 5th, and 6th round pick. So with all that in mind, give me your mock draft as of today(this is who you would want the Skins to use their picks on) I'll start (I wanted to get Connor Barwin in here, but just couldn't find a spot for him) 1st-OT: Best Available and that probably means Michael Oher at this point, but I'm becoming a big Eben Britton fan and I'd be tempted to take him 3rd-C: Antoine Caldwell (looking more unlikely he'll be around, but someone like Luigs could fall down there) 5th-DE/LB: Lawrence Sidbury (out of Richmond, could be a steal) 6th-um....some running back |
Re: If Nothing Changes Come Draft Day, Who Would You Draft
I have not finished my scouting yet so I will not be naming names.
1. OT 3. DT or DE (Best available of the 2 positions) 5. LB or OL (Best available of the 2 positions) 6. LB or OL or RB (Best available of the 3 positions and will not take same position as drafted in 5th) |
Re: If Nothing Changes Come Draft Day, Who Would You Draft
1st Round - Michael Oher - T - Ole Miss
3rd Round - 1st choice - Johnathan Luigs - C - Arkansas 2nd choice - Herman Johnson - G - LSU 3rd choice - Antoine Caldwell - C - Alabama 5th Round - Vance Walker - DT - Georgia Tech (collapses the pocket, stops the run, and plays with a high motor. However he lacks size and instincts) 6th Round - Zach Follet - LB - Cal (Not sure if he'll last this long but hey last year we thought Erin Henderson was going to be a 2nd or 3rd round pick and right now Follet is graded as a fringe 5th round pick) My Nightmare Draft 1st Round - Percy Harvin - RB/WR - Florida ("He was easily the best player on our board and when you draft for need you get in trouble") 2nd Round - Alphonso Smith - CB - Wake Forest ("Well we thought trading next years 2nd and 3rd along with Carlos Rogers, as well as a fifth rounder next year was a good idea because we knew that this guy was high on our board. Plus this year we're not going to make the character mistake we made with Thomas and Davis last year") 3rd Round - Darry Beckwith - ILB - LSU ("Well we saw how well our division rival Dallas did with Brady James and Beck was definitely the best player on our board so we went for it") 5th Round - Maurice Wells - RB - Ohio State ("We wanted a big play threat at RB and we felt like Maurice was it. I mean sure most scouts had him going undrafted but he stuck out on our board like a sore thumb.") 6th Round - Grahm Harrell - QB - Texas Tech (" Did you see how many yards he threw for last year? Pair him with Colt and our fanbase will be thrown into civil war over who are 2nd string QB should be. We're excited about what Jim can do with him.") Follow up comments from Vinny: "We tried to trade back up into the first to get Brian Cushing but we couldn't find anyone who wanted Santana Moss, Jon Jansen, Cornelius Griffin, Shawn Springs, Marcus Washington, and Carlos Rogers in exchange for a first round pick." "We would have gone O-Line but no one really stood out on our board, besides this wasn't a good year for O-lineman." "Hey at least I didn't take any recievers.....or did I?" "Percy Harvin is going to be the next Reggie Bush." "I'm really excited about what the other Well's brings to the table. "I tried to trade back but for some reason the phone line went dead." |

3rd Zack Follett (the man is a playmaker) 5th DE 6th LB or DT (best available player) |

If we don't draft the best tackle available with our 1st pick, I will be turning off the TV and not watching the remainder of the draft.

although I'm a big fan of Rey Maualuga... He's a beast like Polumalu even though he play's LB instead of safety...YouTube - Introducing Rey Maualuga

Sold! I'll see you there! You ever go there on NFL Sundays? The Eagles fans in that place are so effing obnoxious (shocker). |
Re: If Nothing Changes Come Draft Day, Who Would You Draft
Easy. Best available player. We have a lot of holes. Just make sure it's an NFL type guy, not a college phenom like Reggie Bush.
OT, DT, LB, OG, K are my 5 most important positions right now. |
Re: If Nothing Changes Come Draft Day, Who Would You Draft
1st - best guard
2nd - please trade for a pick - best de 3rd - best center 5th - florida states kicker 6th - LB |

Re: If Nothing Changes Come Draft Day, Who Would You Draft
Best available O-lineman or LB. I don't know any names yet, I won't start studying up until the combine.
|
Re: If Nothing Changes Come Draft Day, Who Would You Draft
Obviously, this will change depending on FA and Cuts but if the draft were to be held tomorrow here's what I would like to see:
1st Round: OT Michael Oher Ole Miss 3rd Round: OLB Tyrone McKenzie USF 5th Round: DT Vance Walker GT 6th Round: OG Ray Feinga BYU |
Re: If Nothing Changes Come Draft Day, Who Would You Draft
seriously, get Florida States Kicker please.

3rd Zack Follett (the man is a playmaker) 5th DE 6th LB or DT (best available player)
Sounds like someone is a CAL Bears fan. I like Mack but he would be a HUGE reach at #13 considering he's projected as a fringe 1st rounder. Follett would also be a pretty big reach in the 3rd as he's projected as a 4th or 5th rounder. |
Re: If Nothing Changes Come Draft Day, Who Would You Draft
Jason Smith at No. 13.
|
Re: If Nothing Changes Come Draft Day, Who Would You Draft
DE Brian Okapo in the 1st
G Herman Johnson in the 3rd |
Re: If Nothing Changes Come Draft Day, Who Would You Draft
1st. Michael Oher
3rd. Antoine Caldwell if he's there, if not Follet 5th. Deion Butler from PSU( he would be our new slot receiver when we eventually cut El) 6th. Kicker from FSU. Bonus Pick: I think we trade something from next years picks to move into the second round to select Alex Mack. |
Re: If Nothing Changes Come Draft Day, Who Would You Draft
DE Brian Okapo in the 1st
G Herman Johnson in the 3rd
Orakapo is garbage, he has 1st round bust written ALL over him Also if Oher drops to us, there is probably a reason, so I might pass on him I would say draft a project/gamble WR in 6th, moss and randel el aren't goin' anywhere, and we got kelly and thomas 1. Either one of the top 4 OTs or BJ Raji or Everette Brown 3. Best interior lineman, preferably center. 5. OLB Fowlett if he's there, if not, then best available OL 6. Best available OL, DB, or WR don't bash on me for the WR, think of a Marques Colston...just another big WR from a smaller school, give him a chance cause we still don't know if either Thomas or Kelly will become anything, but my money is on Kelly, he seems like the light bulb turned on at the bye week, sayin' this ain't no joke and u really gonna have to work |
Re: If Nothing Changes Come Draft Day, Who Would You Draft
Hmmm here who i would like to see in skins uni
1st Round: BJ Raji-DL-Bc-Dude has a highmotor, from seeing some vids of him he has good strength and leveragge 3rd Round: Larry English-DL-NIU-a 254 pounder who can be an De or an OLB in outside rushing schemes, BUt what impresses me the most of this guy is his quickness of the edge, and the leverage he uses to get the Qb, also i heard he looks a lot like Demarcous Ware 5th Round: Andre Caldwell(if he still around) C/G-Albama-like him cuz he is big and powerful and has the capability to switch between Center and Leftguard 6th Round: dont know yet, lol |

I watched Oher's last game, the bowl game v. T. Tech. He is good but got beat on a couple plays where it looked like he was just slow to get off the ball. Scouting report is that he's inconsistent, has lapses of concentration. Definitely not a high prob. pick at 13. Everette Brown is a dude that intrigues me a lot. Ideally I'd rather see an OT as they're less bust potential, but Brown is a smart guy & great athlete. He's coming out early & already has his degree. He sounds like a guy that is ready to work & respects the game enough to know he has to. If we go DE w/the 13th pick, I say Everette Brown out of that terrible seminole school. |
Re: If Nothing Changes Come Draft Day, Who Would You Draft
Brian Orakpo = Andre Carter - 7 years age and experience
So, well worth a first round pick. |
Re: If Nothing Changes Come Draft Day, Who Would You Draft
I said this in another thread, but Oher, Cushing, and Mack appeared late in the first round in Mel Kiper's latest mock draft. Does anybody know what their projections are in other mock drafts? If they are being projected late in the first round, we should consider trading down (I know that's not what the thread asked).

Re: If Nothing Changes Come Draft Day, Who Would You Draft
Explain why you think he is going to be a bust??
All he had to do at Texas was bull rush straight up the field and get to the QB....no gap control what so ever. Plus the bull rush don't work every play, especially against elite OTs in the nfl, he's a 1 trick pony that's worth a 2nd round pick to groom...he is not a guy that has a chance at having an impact as a rookie, which is wat the skins need. but like it was said, that is jus my opinion. |
Re: If Nothing Changes Come Draft Day, Who Would You Draft
plus u see any of the UT/OSU bowl game? Orakpo got COMPLETELY shut down against a mediocre OSU OL
|
Re: If Nothing Changes Come Draft Day, Who Would You Draft
All this is subject to change, but from what I know at this point: 1- Alex Mack-Center- Cal. Yeah, he would be worth #13 to me. 3-Fenuki Tupou-OT-Oregon. Have him play RT or Guard. If he's gone, Conner Barwin-DE-Cinn. Can play DE or LB. Would love to get Ziggy Hood with this pick but he'll be gone. 5-Zack Follett-LB-Cal. If he's gone, Ron Brace-DT-BC 6- Any of the above still left or BPA
|
Re: If Nothing Changes Come Draft Day, Who Would You Draft
I would ask Colt Brennan to see if he could be redrafted and just draft him again just to make all of those CB fans out there happy once again. In fact I want a whole team full of Colt Brennans!HAHA

Re: If Nothing Changes Come Draft Day, Who Would You Draft
1st-OT: Best Available and that probably means Michael Oher at this point, but I'm becoming a big Eben Britton fan and I'd be tempted to take him
3rd-C: Antoine Caldwell (looking more unlikely he'll be around, but someone like Luigs could fall down there) 5th-DE/LB: Lawrence Sidbury (out of Richmond, could be a steal) 6th-um....some running back Ditto. |

Ive watched some senior bowl vids, and he appears to be a sleeper. He showed good speed and leverage coming off the edge. |

Sidbury and English could go undrafted. If so, we should sign them both right away as UDFA's.
|
Re: If Nothing Changes Come Draft Day, Who Would You Draft
Since many of you are talking about Marcus Washington or Griffin being removed I would like to get my hands on 1. BJ RAJI or Malinuga/Cushing (I don't like to try and convert players to differen't positions so thats why I list Cushing). After that, I have no clue!!
|
Re: If Nothing Changes Come Draft Day, Who Would You Draft
According to Pete Carrol (sp?) Cushing's natural position is ILB.
|
Re: If Nothing Changes Come Draft Day, Who Would You Draft
I just watched some highlights of BJ Raji, and I have to say Smootsmack got it right, this guy is massive, wide bodied and can penetrate the oline to cause mayhem on the offense,.. I see why he's high on a few peoples lists, but let's all remember Vinny will make the call so it could end up being somone projected in the 4th round going with our first pick..what a dumbass..
