F... winter
Today my area is getting pounded with yet another big snow storm. This has been the roughest winter I can remember. It's either freezing cold or it's snowing. So I just wanted to send out a big "F you" to old man winter. Where is some good ol global warming when you need it?
|
Re: F... winter
Funny here in MD this probably our first actual snow strom. I was just saying to my neighbor what an easy winter it has been (knock on wood).

Re: F... winter
This feels like the longest winter ever. I'm with you Matty. F...Winter

Re: F... winter
Amen!!!

Re: F... winter
Did you guys see it snowed in the UAE for the first time in recorded history? Apparently their local dialect doesn't even have a word for snow. http://www.alarabiya.net/articles/2009/01/25/64949.html

Re: F... winter
We've had a grand total of .000001" of snow accumulation here in SW VA. I like snow but I don't care if we get any or not.

Re: F... winter
What's the problem?
|
Re: F... winter
In two months, I'm going to be umpiring H.S. baseball in this area for the first time.
It's still going to be 25 degrees and snowing like every night. F...winter. |

My heating bill. |

Funny thing is that the global warming people blame bad winters on global warming. I guess thats why they now call it climate change so it will fit any weather we have. |
Re: F... winter
And while we are at it... F ice! We got about 2 inches of snow from this latest storn yesterday and now it has been sleeting for about 10 hours.

Yeah, it took me a good 20 minutes to clear the ice off my car, and then on the way in at least 3 large sheets of it flew off of other cars and nearly hit me. The worst part is that I'm not very busy at the moment, so it really wasnt worth the risk to come to work today. :( |

I always said I will go in when I make more then my deductable ($500) in a day. Now I am less then a mile and with a 4Runner I can either walk or drive without getting into trouble. |

We have a gas furnace, and it's been expensive to say the least to heat the house thus far. If it were up to me, I'd set the damn thing to 68 and wear layers, but no, my wife and 2 daughters need the heat... And I braved the elements and got into work today...it does help that I work about 2 miles from the house and have an AWD Mountaineer. My neighborhood was much better compared to other roads I saw/encountered today. My daughter's sitter's court looked like a frickin' ice rink. |

We have a wood fireplace in our livingroom and I have a wood stove in MY detached garage which is also my man room. The wood stove will get both floors of my garage very warm wich is 24x28 so it pumps out some heat. |
Re: F... winter
F winter for making me lazy and fat. If it wasn't for winter I would be outside going for walks, riding my bike and shit.

Re: F... winter
Pretty shitty weather here in DC this morning. The side streets were awful getting out of my neighborhood, but the main roads are fine. The sidewalks are pretty slick, but all in all, downtown Bethesda is pretty normal.
I like snow, and I like cold weather, but F ice. |
Re: F... winter
It's been really cold here too.
I had to wear gloves this morning. |

We'll be paying for it literally and figuratively June- Sept |
Re: F... winter
I'd rather be too cold than hot. You can only take so much off. I like the cold because when the ground freezes it kills the mosquito eggs. We used to get snow all the time. That was before Al Gore. F all Gore and his global warming. We all take off of work when it snows and inch and get paid for it. He he he

Re: F... winter
i cant get out of my driveway yet. Im not about to try to clear it it's like 300ft long and gravel, and I have to climb a hill at the end to get to the road.
I don't mind, though. I went to wegmans the other day (bad ass grocery store btw) and stocked up on stuff to make homemade soup and got some movies and i think im getting sick from taking my girls out and playing in the snow. |
Re: F... winter
I took the day off I wanted nothing to do with this weather. No sense in taking 2 hours to get to work and 2 hours to get home. Plus if the office decided to close early it would really have been a wasted day.

It's always supply and demand.....in the wrong place. I have about a cord+ dried oak in my front yard. I CANNOT give it away. I will end up having to get the city to come get it and mulch it up. |
Re: F... winter
I second the F Ice call. Yesterday was our first real snow in NOVA, or at least here in Woodbridge, but I damn well hope it was our last. I say F ice because I when I had to leave for work at 3:40 this morning, my car looked like an ice sculpture. And since it's old as hell, it barely defrosts. What I'm trying to say is I was 15 minutes late for work because it took me half an hour to scrape ice off my windshield and drivers/shotgun side windows.

Re: F... winter
Yeah were getting just killed with snow today. It took me an hour and forty minutes to get to work today, and another hour and ten to get home (about a 20 minute commute) ... just terrible. I cannot wait for the summer.

Re: F... winter

Re: F... winter
This morning there was frost on THE INSIDE of my windshield when I got in my car. And I don't mean it was a little foggy, I mean honest to God real frost.
It doesn't help that my heat doesn't work, so I had to attempt to get rid of said internal frost by blasting cold air from the defroster. It eventually melted off. And yes, it's been brutal driving around with no heat this winter. |

Nah, I'm working on the planogram team at the store I work at this week and the hours are from 4 am to noon. Next week I get to go back to working sales floor though. |

Planogram, that's cool stuff. I'm sure a lot of vendors are bugging you to get their stuff at eye level and front of the store |

It's not the job. The State of Virginia takes off. |
Re: F... winter
OMG you guys are so cute! I love you southern folk and your snow storm stories. It's only the end of January and already we have 115 inches of snow here in Syracuse NY. I'm not the nutball who is at all proud that we get this snow, this is just the hell whole I choose to live in.

Re: F... winter
One of the few good things about Georgia is not having to deal with Chicago winters anymore. Baltimore winters were a little more tolerable but they were still cold for a good amount of the time. Meanwhile we got people down here wearing shorts over the course of the past week though it's about to start getting cold again.
