let's talk center ... Sat released from Indy
I personally think Rabach had an off year and can bounce back. But Saturday would be a heck of a center too. Thoughts on Rabach and making a run for Sat?

Re: let's talk center ... Sat released from Indy
Well, he wasn't released right? I thought he was an unrestricted free agent. Given his importance to the team and his strong relationship with their QB I think the Colts will still make a strong push to re-sign him, assuming he doesn't get a lights out offer from someone else.
That's not to say he can't be had but the thread title is perhaps a little misleading. |

Saturday is 33 and we're supposed to get younger b.) I think there are cap consequences if we released Rabach I don't think that Saturday is an option for our team. However, I do think it is very interesting that the Colts allowed him to test free agency, given the fact that he's been a very important player in that offensive line. I would see him being a good fit in a team that has a young offensive line, in need of a veteran presence. |

NO. We have enough expensive 30+ O-linemen on the downside of their careers.

Thank You! |
Re: let's talk center ... Sat released from Indy
hes good because he's been playing in the same offense for 9 straight years, and is a 10 year vet like our other guys, so no let him do well in indy than do bad here..

Re: let's talk center ... Sat released from Indy
Pass. Get Mack!!
|
Re: let's talk center ... Sat released from Indy
... i don't think there's any money to dabble in FA at this point.
|
Re: let's talk center ... Sat released from Indy
If we get a FA center it's got to be Jason Brown from Baltimore. He's 25 and coming into his own.
|
Re: let's talk center ... Sat released from Indy
Saturday is not the answer but it's clear that Rabach will have to go if not this year, then next. he's average at best.

Amen to that. Hey, I'm 37 maybe they would consider me to come in and play LG, CB or QB...I mean, I obviously meet the teams age requirement. Maybe I can replace Chris Horton as Safety, he's way too young to play for the Skins. I'd play for the vet min...lol! HAIL!! |
Re: let's talk center ... Sat released from Indy
let's get birk and runyan while we're at it. we can assemble the best OL available... from 1997.
jahri evans or khalif barnes are the only ones young enough and good enough for us to bother with. |
Re: let's talk center ... Sat released from Indy
I agree with everyone else, too old and too expensive. Good player, and I know that we probably need an upgrade from rabach, but saturday is not what we're looking for right now...

Re: let's talk center ... Sat released from Indy
No way we need to get younger ,not older Saturday was great for Indy, but if they let him go there has to be something to it..
|
Re: let's talk center ... Sat released from Indy
I agree. We need Saturday.

Agree with who? The original poster? Because it seems like everyone else is saying no to Saturday |

It's about time we had another sarcastic SOB on here that makes no sense. Welcome to the club buddy. |
Re: let's talk center ... Sat released from Indy
i cant believe it. most people are thinking along the same lines. we already have enough 30 something year old lineman. just say no

All he needs is to make a senseless bashing of the team or senseless comment of optimism, throw in the term "vet minimum" and he's money. LOL. |
Re: let's talk center ... Sat released from Indy
If all you are looking at is the 2009 season, Jeff Saturday represents more than a modest upgrade at the center position for the Redskins. However, his contract will be for longer than just the 2009 season and it will NOT be for the "vet minimum".
Therefore, I'd pass... |
Re: let's talk center ... Sat released from Indy
Damn......I just realized that we don't have Andrew Crummey anymore. As for Rabach, he straight up sucked last year. I'd take a look at anyone, including Saturday, over Rabach. It would be nice to get a younger guy though.

...Alex Mack.

If B'more doesn't sign Jason Brown, the Tuna and Miami will. I don't think he's in our radar (sadly). |
Re: let's talk center ... Sat released from Indy
I love Alex Mack! He did not participate in the combine due to injury. Slated to land in the last picks of the first round or even early second as the injury may hurt him. Maybe a good candidate to trade down and select with extra pick.
I also love Max Unger! Very polished and can play Center or both gaurd positions and has even played some tackle. He will go mid to late 1st round. We could take with 13 or slide down a couple spots and pick him him. He would be great to replace Rabach or be a great back up in any position until we develop him to start. Rabach had a bad year. I was watching some old games and he stuck out as two to three steps behind. Just a couple of thoughts... I don't follow the College game in dept like the Skins. What do you think? |
Re: let's talk center ... Sat released from Indy
I think Sat. is an upgrade over Rabach. Maybe he can be a stop gap for two years til we can find someone younger. Rabach is terrible. Perhaps there is someone in the draft, maybe in the later rounds. Or perhaps a free agent. It's time for these guys in the FO to start finding more diamonds in the rough....like Horton.

Is Jeff Bostic still available?

That would be nice! I want Jason Brown, but he's likely to become the highest paid center in the league. I really like Jake Grove if Oakland doesnt resign him. He went to school in Virginia and can play both guard and center. |
Re: let's talk center ... Sat released from Indy
Interesting note on Saturday:
Jeff Saturday of the Indianapolis Colts is willing to play guard, his agent said, and could be seen as a value pickup.
washingtonpost.com |

Giving Buges flexibility makes the entire line better. HAIL!! |

yeah it wouldn't make much sense to bring him here as a guard when he would clearly be an upgrade at center. |
