According to profootballtalk.com the titans sayer they plan to confront us to the league for dealing with haynesworths agent before the free agency deadline, if we're found guilty then we could lose some of our four draft picks...

Um, let's post what the article actually says, I'm editing this thread title to be a little less misleading:

In the press conference introducing newly-signed receiver Nate Washington and defensive tackle Jovan Haye, Titans G.M. Mike Reindfeldt fielded a question as to whether the Titans might pursue tampering allegations against the Redskins regarding the signing of defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth.

“Yeah, I mean that’s something at some point that’s kind of . . . . We were interested in signing Albert,” Reinfeldt said. “We tried to sign him and unfortunately it didn’t work out. It’s always something we can address with the league, but at this point in time we’re more focused on the two gentlemen here today, quite honestly.”

Hmmm.

It’s an open secret that NFL teams talk with the agents of players who are not yet free agents. Few teams ever complain because most teams are guilty of it.

In this case, the Titans might do it. Stay tuned.

this doesn't surprise me at all. why was snyder having dinner w/ ab's agent out in the open for everyone to see? if we end up losing draft picks over this it wasn't worth it.

It wouldn't surprise me if the Titans filed a complaint. It would surprise me very much if anything came of it.

Well I remember last year the 49ers were charged with tampering for asking lance Briggs if he wanted to come play for them, the NFL investigated and found that the 9ers called Briggs phone before FA, and the 9ers and bears swapped picks and the bears got their 3rd rounder I believe...& yes it does matter to us because the titans pick towards the end of every round, and if we swap picks they move up for free basically..plus we don't have but four picks already, what do you all want now, three picks???

This is simple. If they can prove we contacted Haynesworth directly while he was under contract with Tennessee, then we are guilty. But one of the reasons that's impossible to prove is that the only witness, Haynesworth, is under contract with us and doesn't have any reason to confirm the allegations.

Remember, they only got Briggs to talk about the Niners once he had signed his extension with Chicago.

That, and we may not have gone any further than dinner with his agent, which of course, is not tampering.

It was more than just that. There was a trail of email evidence that busted the Niners.

Assuming there's nothing like that for the Redskins, this seems like much ado about nothing

The Briggs case, if I remember correctly, was a little different in that the season was under way. It did not happen at the beginning of free agency when EVERYONE tampers.

danny had dinner with his agent (which could have been to discuss rogers or whoever the guy was that that agent represents on our team.

this is a dead end and everyone knows it.

I guess they will have to have some proof....that the dinner between AH agent and Snyder was something more then a dinner and have detailed proof as to what was discussed at the dinner to show both were discussing finer points of a contract.

I guess AH is the only player the agent looks after cause certainly there's no possible way Snyder was talking to him about another player or perhaps a player coming out of the draft and perhaps wanted to get a feel for what the rookie might want......LOL.

It's not like we had him signed at 1201am. It took six ours to get the contract done. At 1201 his agent calls with specifics in regards to what AH wants. Snyder is in a confrense call with all the pertinant coach's and says ok. 5 1/2 hours of adding all the specific wording to a computerized contract and either e-mail it or fax it. Or.....perhaps AH's agent already had a contract made up and ready to send to any team interested. Team looks it over and agrees. All parties sign and ta da. AH is a Skin.

Unless they had a guy outside the restuarant with one of those boom mikes pointed at Snyders table spying on the dinner what proof are they going to offer? Screw them sour pusses.

I don't think anything will come of this. Like a few of you already said, tampering is extremely difficult to prove. I've gotta believe Danny and Vinny are smart enough to not leave a trail of evidence behind if they did contact him early.

So Danny and AH's agent are friends. Thats all that tells me. :) Seriously though, unless the conversation at Dinner was recorded, like they do on CSI Miami or something, then there is no case. And the Titans GM needs to realize that and he needs to realize that he is Danny's and Vinny's inferior!

i want my jason taylor picks back. who would have thought that parcells is as smart as he is that guy knows football better than anybody alive right now.belicheck learned it all from parcells next he will probably grow boobs.

Parcells could have torn up his contract this year.

It will never happen though because Snyder would be excluded from all football decisions. Snyder had this with Marty and he did not like it.

our only hope of having a well run front office is for snyder to no longer be owner of the team and snyders never gonna sell. perhaps our great-grandchildren will have a better owner.

PFT has been banging the drum on this type of tampering for a long time. I guess he justs finds it ridiculous that the league has such stringent tampering rules most of the time and they essentially ignore them when it comes to FA at this time of year. I understand where he is coming from but it is annoying when he uses a mole hill to make a mountain. I don't mind the minor off hand refernces he makes to these types of situations but this one struck me as a overboard.

Tampering? Seriously? The guy had already made it obvious that he was a free agent. If you are already willing to leave your job for another, then you are a free agent. His contract was up and he was securing his financial future.

Tenn is not going to file tamperig charges because teams like Washington who have a stable fan base financially support small market teams like Tenn, Ind, Jax, Tampa, ect... To piss off the 1st or 2nd most profitable franchise in the NFL is not in their best interest. Especially with an uncapped year coming up. I believe that there will be no tampering charges placed.
