Davis hurt
Stephen Davis is out again. Everything that went right for the Panthers last year seems to be going wrong!

I just benched him!
|
Foster is looking better and better for me
|
This is one of the reasons the Skins dumped his ass.
|
He'll still be their number one back and can have a great year. The panthers have a week three bye week so this might not hut as bad as a lot of you may think. He very well could just miss one game.

oh yeah? dont think we couldve used him last year? Priest Holmes is 31. and im not talking about his number. Davis still got it done. |

Hey Matty ... No rush on that trade now. Take your time, take 2-5 weeks if you must :laughing- |
lol, well that bye week is goign to save you.
I guess if it doesnt take affect until next week I might want to look at starting Tyrone Wheatley since Fargas I dont think is going to play this week. |

actually no, it was his agent's demands for 10mill a year and spurriers disinterest in power running backs. deshaun went undrafted in a bunch of leagues, solid pickup.. though without davis or smith, that's a much weaker offense. btw, whoever yanked D. Clark and E. Johnson in the EA league, i hate you ;) I grabbed them in all my yahoo leagues monday morning, but that damned EA waiver wire cost me both of them and now my TE is going to be a sore spot for the rest of the year (unless someone wants to trade :D :D :D) /rant |
i took e.johnson in the warpath money league. Of course I also just traded for crumpler. I gave up a bunch of crumpler but I still might start johnson because hes got my boy Dorsey throwing ot him, and I know he likes TEs
|
where's our san francisco fans to give us the heads up ;) 49ers have a good WR and a good TE this year (or so it seems)...

big difference though is that Holmes produces in multiple ways and has only had one real injury that I can remember while davis always seems to miss 2-3 games a year due to injuries related to his knees, lower legs, or ankles. holmes is in a very elite club of all time nfl running backs and as much as I used to like davis, he's no where close to holmes' league. |

Davis may not be in the same league as Holmes. And like you said about Davis missing 2-3 games a year is a down fall, but even though he misses 2-3 games a year he still rushes for 1,300 to 1,400 yards per season (unless Spurrier is the caoch), now just think if he could have stayed healthy for the 2-3 games that he missed. Not bad stats if you ask me... :twocents: |
i like davis yo
|
I wouldnt knock Davis for missing a few games at all. In all honesty, I expect Portis to miss 1-3 games somewhere along the season. These running backs take a beating, its hard for any of them to suit up for 16 games. I really like Stephen Davis, I hated how he was treated here the last couple years, but I'm glad we let him go so he could be somewhere that he could get a good opprotunity. I wish him well as long as it's not against us.He should be fine.

That is a big If[Staying healthy!] That is why I backed him up with Foster! Pluse I picked him up[Foster] late in draft in another league because I had that feeling Davis wouldn't make it all season! So can you say trade? |
I have a quick question, I had Davis in my work league, and I was lucky that Foster was still available so I picked him up. My question is this, it is a 2 rb league, and my 1st starter is Portis and my second is either going to be Foster or Cris Brown, which one will have the better day tomorrow?
|
Hey guys, if you're going to rip Davis for being 'injury prone' let's not overlook the fact that Portis has missed a few starts in his young career due to injuries, and chances are he probably won't make all 16 starts this year.
Is there a back in the league that starts all 16 games every year?? Injuries are part of the game, especially for RB's and especially for guys like Davis who's playing style involves a lot of contact. |
Redskins8588, i'd vote to start foster... colts D isn't great, but the KC D doesn't even know how to tackle... talent wise i don't think they're really THAT far apart... brown also got removed last game due to injury, so he may not be 100% right now.
|
I cant beleive Foster was still available in yoru leauge. must not be a lot of teams. Good pick up though.
Is there a back in the league that starts all 16 games every year??
Well "fragile" Fred Taylor has started all 16 games the last 2 years. And Shaun Alexander has played in all 16 games each year since 2000....let's hope for my fantasy football team's sake that streak continues |

since 2000 davis has 31 rushing tds to 17 fumbles while holmes has 61 rushing tds to 8 fumbles. in that time frame he has 99 receptions for 841 yards and holmes has 240 receptions for 2,195 yards. davis was used badly by spurrier but holmes wasn't even the starter in 2000 and yet he has incredibly superior numbers to davis. I can't argue with his production when he has a run minded coach and a good o-line, but there's no way anyone should, and I'm not saying anyone here has, even consider davis as one of the elite rbs. I know I can't be the only one who worried the last couple years he was with the team if he was gonna get hurt or screw up at the worst possible time in the game. |
(which makes it hard to understand why brett favre gets so much accolade for his consecutive start streak(192 i believe, playoffs excluded) and not eddie george(129 games po's excluded)
its cause favre can still play, george is 2nd string at the very best... george is durable in that he shows up able to play, but his skills have left him and he's not able to play very well... favre also has 4 more years on him (i think everyone here knows RBs get spent quickly in the nfl, and the accolades go to the stat leader regardless of position or situation... like QC racking up yards against KC, or bruce smith forcing the sack record a million years after reggie had already left the league)... |
I like Davis...he showed class....RB's just run risk of hurt if they get a lot of work...nature of the beast...............

Yeah that's the difference right there, Favre is still one of the top players at his position. George is a shadow of his former self. |
looks like carolina didnt miss him, huge day for foster
|
of course, they were playing the chiefs... he even outdid chris brown by 22 yards.
