Devin Thomas Blog
Thomas has launched his own website, complete with a blog he's been updating this week.. Devin Thomas Official Website
It's good to see he's driven to prove his detractors and critics wrong and is working hard to JC to develop chemistry on and off the field. I'm going on the record in believing he's going to break through in a big way this year and turn into a Brandon Marshall type talent. |
Re: Devin Thomas Blog
He's taking the right steps. I'm glad to see it. He's a weapon with the ball in his hands and I think we'll see that more often this year. Keep it up Devin!
|
Re: Devin Thomas Blog
Good to hear that he's working hard with JC. If he develops into something special the offense could really take off.

Re: Devin Thomas Blog
zorn has to open up the playbook with this guy. too many backscreens to Moss. thomas has the potential to be a calvin johnson type.

..........what? You're talking about the once in a generation player who along with Larry Fitzgerald is possibly going to be in striking distance one day of all the records set by Jerry Rice. Thomas potential is more like that of Koren Robinson without the drinking problem. Which pretty much derailed a promising career for Robinson where he's now more of a good role player instead of a number 1. |
Re: Devin Thomas Blog
Well he need's to step up and become a starter next season because we really need him to shine, no matter who plays QB... Even though I hope it's Campbell...
|
Re: Devin Thomas Blog
Man the skins do this to me every year, getting my hopes up haha. Can't remember the last time we really were expecting to bomb, every years seems to have higher expectation then maybe reasonable. Time to own in 09, LETS DO THIS!!!!!
That would be sweet, but it's kinda reaching dream don't u think?
I don't think it is reaching. The guy has the size, speed, shiftiness, and hands to be absolutely top shelf. I like what I see regarding his offseason. Let's hope it shows in September. As Mattyk indicated, significant growth in DT could seriously change the offense for the better. And perhaps, unlike Marshall, DT can avoid sticking his hand through a TV. |
Re: Devin Thomas Blog
He is very explosive, but the only way to take advantage of his skills is to get him the ball down field, if we can keep JC standing straight up long enough, he should come into his own. It's year 2 that's usually when a reciever starts showing what he has.
|
Re: Devin Thomas Blog
Nice to read, hope he can come through.

Not really. Thomas has excellent size, hasn't shown any propensity for drops, has nice straight line speed and seems to have the 'want-to' to be great. I'm not putting him in the Moss/Fitzgerald category but he's got potential to be a couple notches below. |

If we keep JC standing up longer, he'll just have more time to hold onto the ball, not make plays. |
Re: Devin Thomas Blog
Good to hear he is conversating with Campbell, you can't beat a good conversate.

Re: Devin Thomas Blog
Devin "Showtime" Thomas hahahaha yep he has been some Showtime alright with all those great pass interferences
|
Re: Devin Thomas Blog
I don't have high hopes for Thomas per se, just reasonable expectations. Become a starting wr & show some consistency & the 2nd round pick will be worth it. Sure I hope he becomes a star. There are a no. of young recievers in the nfl looking to take over the aging stars, Moss, Holt, & TO. I hope Thomas is one of the next star wr's of the nfl, but I'd be happy if he & Kelly can become solid starters & neither is a "star" kind of like NE's recievers when they won the 3 super bowls.

Re: Devin Thomas Blog
He's saying all the right things. It's a good blog, but he's obviously no Darnerian "I wanna play coach" McCants.

God forbid we have some optimism. After all now is the time, before the reality of the season kicks in.

Re: Devin Thomas Blog
Per D. Thomas...i mean it's very tempting to have high expectations. The stuff he did in college (albeit one year) was pretty impressive and my word that kind of talent doesn't just evaporate right? He also sounds motivated, maybe not for the best reasons, but motivated nonetheless. My worry, and I believe it is the biggest roadblock to our offense, is the simple fact our team hasn't developed a star WR in ages. Our position coach hasn't developed a WR during his entire NFL career. My gut is this Thomas/Kelly experiment is largely on the two players and to a lesser degree JC/Zorn. I will say if either young WR makes great strides this season you will hear me sing his/their praises to no end :)

Re: Devin Thomas Blog
It will be a hugely positive event if Devin Thomas plays the way a second round draft pick is expected to play. Please drop any expectations that he is another Calvin Johnson. That would be a gift from the football gods were it to materialize.
One cautionary note, however:
Talk is cheap. He had a full year in 2008 to show his talents and his desire - - and he didn't do it. Now he is talking a good game. What matters is that he takes all that "talk" and translates it to the practice field such that the coaches believe that they can depend on him sufficiently to have him on the field for 75% of the offensive snaps when the games count.
Anyone who can type can start a blog and say all the right things. Not everyone can take it to the field in the NFL... Recall that Brandon Lloyd said lots of positive "stuff" in his offseason here and it didn't amount to a pinch of pigeon poop once the real games started! |
Re: Devin Thomas Blog
I see no reason why DT would'nt step up this year. He obviously has some skills and looks to understand the importance of building a relationship with his QB. A lot of receivers spend their first year getting acclimated to the NFL. Will he step up? Well I'm no ventriloquist but all signs seem to point that way.

It's an interesting transition from college to the NFL as far as what you can get away with. |

Nice Blog, i hope it works out for the best for the skins

Re: Devin Thomas Blog
This reminds me of Darnarien McCants...nah...not really, but his website is entertaining.
Glad he's working hard with JC. He could have a big year. That reverse he scored the TD on last year showed what he's capable of...now he just needs to do it regularly. This was a little odd though:
I’ve always had people doubting me. Do I play with a chip on my shoulder? I’ve got a party mix of chips on my shoulder. I wear number 11 on my jersey because I was 11 years old when I first knew that football was my thing, but also because 11th was where I thought I was going to go in the draft to Buffalo. There were very strong indications through the Bills and the media that I would go No. 11 to Buffalo and I had a real good feeling that was where I was going to go. It didn’t happen and I stayed around into the 2nd round. Now I do what I’ve got to do to prove that I could have and should have been a 1st rounder. But I don’t need to look at my number for motivation. When it says Thomas on my jersey, that means it’s Showtime, time to do what I have to do.
|

From his bio
My hero is: Myself. I look at myself like a superhero. More like Batman, because I can’t reveal my true self. People either love or hate you, you can’t get everybody to love you. Still, if people don’t like you, at least you can show who you are and why you do what you do. What’s in your iPod? Besides myself, because I do have a recording studio, I have a lot of Lil Wayne, slow jams, R&B. This guy might be a bit of a narcissist. Seriously, blogs are wack and Devin's is no exception. I'll forgive him if he comes close to being the player that he thinks he is. Man, how I miss Art Monk. |

This is a positive step, because as we all know, the greatest receivers in football history have all been bloggers

Re: Devin Thomas Blog
I sure hope I am wrong, but if Devin Thomas was a public company with stocks available I would short sell as many options as I could get my hands on.
He is the type of guy who could bust out of the league in three years and it would take him ten more years to realize he was a chump football player. Like I said I hope he proves me wrong. |

Re: Devin Thomas Blog
Before i ask a draftee about their parents divorce i would ask if they had a recording studio or plan on releasing an album. Instant pass if they answer yes to either.
