Undrafted Rookies Signed

We just signed Scott Burley, Maryland tackle. Not real excited about this

Re: Undrafted Rookies Signed

Some other names we've signed

DT-Brigham Harwell (UCLA)
DE-Derek Walker (Illinois)
QB-Chase Daniel (Missouri)

Burley is a solid pick I think. Daniel seems like a waste.

Nice. I heard we liked him before the draft.

This should be interesting. I hope they can pull a rabbit out of their hat with the O-line.

That's his name, Joel Bell, thanks. Alex Boone would've gone today if he could've gotten the bottle out of his mouth. Parrish Augustus is someone that I'd be interested in. What's up with Cornelius Lewis?

He is a big fat strong tackle that would be best suited to guard.

Let's keep the focus on this thread to just the players we signed, and use the other UDFA thread for possible signings. Or I can just merge the threads

I agree with Fred Smoot when it comes to fat kids. Sign him up for camp fodder.

What's wrong with Daniel as camp competition? It seems to me that in the worst case he's an early cut. In the best case the elderly Collins can take a stroll and we become younger at qb.

I'd like to see them give Cedrick Dockery a try as well as Aaron Kelly(WR) he is 6-5 and was projected to go in the 5th round. Don't know why we picked up Marco instead he was scheduled to go later or not at all.

I agree. Couldn't hurt to sign the kid and give him a looksy. He was pretty much a stud at Mizzou. I am going to go out on a limb here and say I would think Daniels would have more of a shot at making it in the NFL than Sanchez. Daniels was a big part in making Mizzou competitive, any shmuck with a good arm could take snaps at USC and look damn good. USC is always stacked to the gills with talent as they have a virtual lock on the best of the best in HS blue chips in CA and in the West in general. Mizzou would have totally sucked without Daniels.

No need to fret, not like he's guaranteed to be on the final roster.

Daniels;

Analysis
Positives: Gutty, competitive field general. A virtual coach on the field. Reads defenses well and checks down effectively. Good accuracy to all levels. Shows enough zip in the short to intermediate throws when given a deep pocket. Good touch to place the ball between the linebackers and safeties down the seams. More elusive than often given credit for. Can buy time in and out of the pocket and shows good accuracy on the move.

Negatives: May be too short for the NFL. Scouts believe his success in this system is greatly tied to throwing out of the shotgun -- and thereby the open passing lanes and middle underneath passes of the scheme. Seemed to provide further evidence of this theory with his struggles at the East-West Shrine game. Questionable arm strength. Has the zip to complete the short and intermediate passes, but has to wind-up for longer throws and due to his lack of height and release point, longer passes tend to sail.

Camp Fodder. Perhaps I'm wrong and they can Collins to get younger, but I doubt it.

Edit: Although my mags compare him to Jeff Garcia.

Re: Undrafted Rookies Signed

Like I said, couldn't hurt to give him a look though. Still think he would be a better QB than Sanchez. Collins isn't getting any younger and they may need to go younger if JC ta kes a hike after this season or is plain let go.

So with that QB signing does that mean JC will be seeking a trade now? Any word on that?

Re: Undrafted Rookies Signed

DG28 -- I doubt it. I think Campbell was more concerned with seeing the Redskins invest a high pick and a lot of money in a guy. When a team does that, the writing is on the wall for the current starter. The high draft pick will get his shot.

In fact Im willing to bet Campbell wanted us to pick up an UDFA QB to take some reps from him during training camp.

Is he better then Crummy? Because it would kind of have been a waste if we bring in a guy who's not as good as the guy who didn't make the team last year.

I've been following Williams since HS, I think he's the best lineman to come out of Maryland maybe ever

Would like to see us keep Daniels but dont see that happening with Collins and Colt already here. He could stay on the practice squad but will there be enough room for him? I guess we still have a few months to worry about this though.

Re: Undrafted Rookies Signed

Edwin Williams was apparently rated the 6th or 7th best Center prospect in the draft. Awesome we got him!
