J.D. Skolnitsky, DE Long Shot with Proto Type Size and Speed
I know this is probably just a camp scrub, but I love the physical attributes. Leaves school a year early, because of ineligibility for NCAA violations. Probably better to learn in the pros than at JMU. Maybe a blessing in disguise. Maybe a couple of years of developing and he can be something. He might be our new Buzbee. He also is from the same school that Charles Haley is from.
Pro Day Results: 6-foot, 5 ½ inches, 263 pounds 9-foot, 10-inch broad jump 31 ½ inches in the vertical jump 21 reps on the bench 4.72 in the 40-yard dash (first attempt) 4.76 in the 40-yard dash (second attempt) 4.34 in the shuttle 7.19 in the L-drill |
Re: J.D. Skolnitsky, DE Long Shot with Proto Type Size and Speed
Will be very difficult to make the cut on the D-line this year. He'll probably have to beat out Buzbee and Jackson, which I don't see happening.

Really? Buzbee is coming off a season-ending injury and Jackson aka the Ghost is and probably will always be a non-entity. I'd say the guy has a chance. |
Re: J.D. Skolnitsky, DE Long Shot with Proto Type Size and Speed
Alex Buzbee is a long long shot to make the team. I think they will only keep 4 DE. I think that Daniels and Carter are locks. That leaves two spots. If Orakpo is not considered a linebacker, one spot. I think that Jackson is a lock. I have heard Vinny brag that he is going to be a factor this year. It is not going to be easy for Stolnitski, but who knows.

Re: J.D. Skolnitsky, DE Long Shot with Proto Type Size and Speed
He could be the next white Charles Haley in the Practice squad.

Don't forget Lorenzo, who has slimmed down to play more DE. |
Re: J.D. Skolnitsky, DE Long Shot with Proto Type Size and Speed
Isnt it great to be able to have these discussions/debates about depth? I can remember a short time ago when the argument was why and when we would have enough depth the even have a competition...

I did'nt. I figure 4 DE 5 DT. I think he is a lock along with Haynesworth, Montgomery, Golston and Griffin. |

I gotta disagree with both points in bold. Buzbee isn't as long of a long shot as you think. Apparently he's been impressive, and my buddy who is a trainer out at Redskins Park says he looks great. On the flip, I hear the Rob Jackson is very far away from being a lock to say the least. |
Re: J.D. Skolnitsky, DE Long Shot with Proto Type Size and Speed
As a JMU alum I can tell you I never thought Skol would be anything on the next level. He has some tools and the right makeup phyiscally but he didn't ever dominate. He's more of a motor guy. Had he not fouled up he would have had a real nice senior year and we'll miss him(JMU that is) but I was surprised he came out of camp with a contract. He just never seemed like he had something for the next level. We'll see. I am guessing his size and tools make him nice camp fodder...maybe he can parlay that into a practice squad spot. He's from Fairfax so his family is near. So that's cool.
If we wanted to really look at the Wildcat then the better JMU alum would have been Landers. I watched the guy for 3 years and I will tell anyone and everyone this. The guy can straight play. He's a bigger stronger version of Edwards(from App State) I know TB is interested in him in the secondary but I always thought he would be a perfect Slot/Wildcat type player. Very much a Kordell Stewart. This past year he threw for like 17 TDs, ran for another 16, Pased for 1700 YDs and ran for 1100. 4 Ints. That's right 33 TDs and 4 Ints. All in the CAA which is universally regarded as the best I-AA conference by a wide margin. Relative to competition he is the best player I have ever seen and it's not even close. Had he gone to VATech he'd have left early and would be starting somewhere in this NFL already. But he wanted to play QB and they wanted him to play Safety/HB/WR. So off to JMU. |

Yes James Madison and I can't believe Charles Haley got mentioned before Gary Clark on a Redskins board. |

I always thought JMU girls were super duper hot. I'll mention that before Haley, Skolnitsky, and Gary Clark. |

Can't argue with that line of thinking. |

I dated a JMU girl briefly during the summer right after I graduated from high school. She was a year older. I met some of her friends from JMU as well. Needless to say I wish I had visited Harrisonburg before I applied to colleges. |

I was about to say the same thing!!! Blasphemy indeed!!! Gary Clark went to JMU & was a teamate of Haley's. One of the great Skins of Gibbs last 2 super bowl teams. |
Re: J.D. Skolnitsky, DE Long Shot with Proto Type Size and Speed
Sorry for not mentioning Clark. I had a good friend who played football with Haley at JMU. He used to talk about what a lunatic he he was. I never new Clark came from JMU, but that is another reason to get excited.

Re: J.D. Skolnitsky, DE Long Shot with Proto Type Size and Speed
Those were the days when JMU football was mostly a joke...ala the rest of i-aa. Nowadays the Dukes are a football powerhouse at the FCS(I-AA) level. They're probably as good or better than a good many low level BCS(I-A) teams. Look at a team Like UConn. They only started their porgram like 10 years ago. Started in the CAA...got their ass handed to them for a few years. Sunk an enormous amount of money into the program and became a top tier team but not dominant and moved to the Big East where they compete pretty well.

JMU chicks are banging, but they give Radford more than a run for their money as STD University |

He just needs to be careful about the weight gain supplements he's taken and not get suspended for taking a banned substance again.
I'm rooting for Buzbee though |

Lets not forget that Scott Norwood went there too? Laces out Dan!

Well I was just going on what I heard from Redskins tv and Vinny on those shows about Jackson. Obviously, you sound like you have better info, from inside. Would love to see Buzbee make the team. |
Re: J.D. Skolnitsky, DE Long Shot with Proto Type Size and Speed
Gentlemen:
I am shocked and very pleasantly surprised. We have more than 20 posts here and no one has yet declared that Messr. Skolnitsky is the second coming of Lawrence Taylor blended with Dick Butkus, Chris Hanberger and Jack Pardee. Carry on... |

Thats nice but a trainer just knows who is injuired. I think looks alone dont make good football players. Buzzbee has not played in regular season game yet. So i think some back up spots are up for grabs. |
