It's a shame that we can't throw on Cinci this year.

Re: Roy Williams Agree To Terms With Cincy
Never seen a guy make 5 pro bowls in 7 years get ragged on so much
. Its proven you put him in the right situation he will be effective. Going with a former coach will help i'm sure. |

The guy has zero coverage skills. Just watch the Washington and New Orleans games from '06. It was embarrassing. |

He was, for a period of time, the most overrated player in the league. He should go in the Redskins ring of honor for all the plays Moss and Cooley made at his expense. LOL. HAIL!! |

HAIL!![/quote] :laughing- Really. He should have been drawing a paycheck from Danny while he was in Dallas. |

Major hype as a lowly Safety got him 5 free tickets to Oahu. He stole those spots. He's actually worse than Alstott as far as over-hyped. |

No worries, I found it funny because there were two other Roy Williams thread (well one is old and the other one was locked). I wonder if he (RW) is going to be hyped into another Pro Bowl. |

Dave Campo was the coach that originally drafted Williams in Dallas and for the last 2 seasons was actually his secondary coach. And that reunion did nothing to help RW's liabilities in coverage. Williams simply had to get out of the 3-4 defensive scheme, and when Dallas switched to the 3-4 under Parcells, is when RW really declined in production. He also started falling off when Darren Woodson retired. Now that he is in a 4-3, he will do better. With 4 linemen up front creating space for him to attack the line of scrimmage, he will do well against the run. In a 3-4, many times the OLB has to drop of into the flats and that left RW having to take on Guards, Tackles and Fullbacks one-on-one and he got owned. He's just too small to be a LB and too big to be a CB or Safety. |
Re: Roy Williams Agree To Terms With Cincy
I actually always thought a lot of people were too hard on RW. Granted, he's poor in deep coverage or straight man on man, but as a true strong safety he could cover in the flats & intimidate recievers across the middle. He's definitely not a cover 2 safety though.

Re: Roy Williams Agree To Terms With Cincy
He's not a cover anything safety. Teams have figured this out over the years to the point now I don't think he can be an effective player and he's more liability than asset.

Re: Roy Williams Agree To Terms With Cincy
MAybe this will erase Adam A. as the worst S sgining ever. Of course we made him the highest paid ever.

Re: Roy Williams Agree To Terms With Cincy
I can't for the life of me see why Cinci picked him up. I mean the NFC East is the hardest division. If you put your mind right down to it ....if Williams was all that great wouldn't it stand to reason one of the other NFC East teams would have been making a play for his services? It speaks volumes that none of the other three teams in the division who played against him twice a yr made a play for him.
Good luck Cinci. |

Three reasons why Williams left the NFC Beast: 1. Chris Cooley 2. Kevin Boss 3. Jason Witten TE's have career days going up against Williams in coverage. Before he left for New Orleans, Shockey had his best recieving day of his career against Williams. Kind of hard to find another division in the entire league that is stack that well at TE. Maybe one team here and there, but not all of them in the division. |
