Name your all time starting QB, RB, TE, and 2 WRS and why...
Ok, this was a facebook application that I did that I was interested to see what others thought. It was to name who you want to start at QB, RB, TE, and 2 WRs.
I chose: QB- Peyton Manning - I beleive him to be the best QB of all time. He has it all, brains and skills. Skills such as arm strength, sure others have him, even on accuracy as well, but no QB has ever been smarter IMO. RB- Barry Sanders - I am still upset he retired. What a joy to watch. He didn't even need a line, he created his own holes...what an amazing talent. TE- Tony Gonzalez - The man can play offense like no other. Maybe a few were better offensively but that's debatable, but the way he played on offense, AND his blocking skills put him at the top of my list. WR1- Jerry Rice - I don't think I need to explain. WR2- Art Monk - This pick would be up for serious debate outside of a redskins forum, but I chose Art because he was money. The man could catch anything and was extremely reliable. He would be an amazing compliment to Jerry Rice. Art did all the little things and was WAAAY under appreciated. All of those players together have something in common...they all have a remarkable amount of class and are stand up citizens. All are true role models. What are yours? |
Re: Name your all time starting QB, RB, TE, and 2 WRS and why...
QB: John Unitas
RB: Jim Brown TE: Mike Ditka WR 1: Jerry Rice WR 2: Rod Gardner - - oops I mean Randy Moss. |

Re: Name your all time starting QB, RB, TE, and 2 WRS and why...
QB: Dan Marino - could have gone with Manning, Peyton here but Marino was absurdly good with fairly subpar receivers.
RB: Walter Payton - Best ever, this guy used to train like no other and he is the prototype of today's runing back TE: Shannon Sharpe - This guy could have been a wide receiver he was that effective on offense WR1: Jerry Rice - This isn't even an argument WR2: Jerry Rice, lol, Terrell Owens - say what you want about this guy being a douche (which he is), he is second on the all time list for touchdowns and consistently produces with different qbs every 2 years. |

Elway
Emmitt Smith Tony Gonzalez Jerry Rice Randy Moss |
Re: Name your all time starting QB, RB, TE, and 2 WRS and why...
QB: Marino
RB: Barry Sanders. Hands down. TE: Tony Gonzalez WR: Jerry Rice WR: Michael Irvin |
Re: Name your all time starting QB, RB, TE, and 2 WRS and why...
QB: Dan Marino
RB: Walter Payton WR: Jerry Rice WR: Randy Moss TE: Mark Bavaro |
Re: Name your all time starting QB, RB, TE, and 2 WRS and why...
QB: Joe Montana-because I want to win and he wins
RB: Clinton Riggins-because how awesome would that be? Fun loving character during the week (Who occassionally speaks a little too much) but works his ass of on Sunday (with or without the ball) WR: Randy Moss-because Jerry Rice is too obvious and Moss is a freak of nature WR2: Steve Largent-I need I can always count on to get me 10 yards on 3rd and 9 TE: Ozzie Newsome-because I plan on promoting him after he retires |
Re: Name your all time starting QB, RB, TE, and 2 WRS and why...
Peyton Manning
Gale Sayers Tony Gonzalez Jerry Rice Marvin Harrison with Don Hutson coming off the bench. I think Jim Brown is the greatest to ever play, but I don't think he'd be quick enough to play against today's defenders. Sayers absolutely would be. Manning will retire as the best ever, Rice did, and Marvin is the second best receiver in the history of the game. As for Gonzo, I dunno, easy call. I can't imagine that Ditka or Mackey was more dominant for longer than Gonzo has been. |
Re: Name your all time starting QB, RB, TE, and 2 WRS and why...
QB - John Elway. The Broncos were never out of a game with him at QB. 4 Superbowl appearances and 2 wins. The guy was money.
RB - Barry Sanders. He never played behind a dominant offensive line yet he was still the most electrifying RB I've ever watched. A genuine good guy too. TE - Mark Bavarro. He was Phil Simms security blanket. He was a hard-nosed player who seemed to rise to the occasion in big games. WR - Art Monk. No explanation necessary. If you need one, turn in your Warpath membership card. WR - Sterling Sharpe. If not for injury, he could have been the best ever (I seriously believe that). I loved watching him play. HAIL!! |
Re: Name your all time starting QB, RB, TE, and 2 WRS and why...
This is subject to change but I would'nt mind this lineup:
QB - Peyton Manning - He is one of the smartest QB's ever. RB - Earl Campbell - Bruise 'em baby! TE - Tony Gonzalez - You really need a reason? WR - Jerry Rice - The best. WR - Gary Clark - Great receiver and love his attitude. |
Re: Name your all time starting QB, RB, TE, and 2 WRS and why...
QB-Colt Brennan
RB-Barry Sanders TE-Tony Gonzalez WR-Randy Moss WR-Jerry Rice |
Re: Name your all time starting QB, RB, TE, and 2 WRS and why...
QB-Joe Montana
RB-Walter Payton WR1-Randy Moss WR2-Marvin Harrison TE-Tony Gonzalez Montana is a winner Payton could do it all- speed, power, elusiveness Randy Moss for the jump balls and deep threat Marvin Harrison to work the sidelines Tony Gonzalez for durability and the red zone effectiveness |
Re: Name your all time starting QB, RB, TE, and 2 WRS and why...
QB: Johnny Unitas - great arm, great leader
RB: Barry Sanders - I do not expect to ever see a better runner TE: Tony Gonzalez - can catch and block with the best WR1: Jerry Rice - obvious choice but who did it better WR2: Raymond Berry - clutch hands on 3rd down intermediate routes |
Re: Name your all time starting QB, RB, TE, and 2 WRS and why...
Montana, Rice, R. Moss, B. Sanders, T. Gonzales.

Re: Name your all time starting QB, RB, TE, and 2 WRS and why...
QB-Dan Marino.. Nobody threw it like him.
RB-Jim Brown.. The perfect combination of power and speed WR-Jerry Rice.. The best there ever is, was and will be WR-Randy Moss.. Freak of nature that's impossible to single cover TE-Kellen Winslow.. He was the original athletic TE.. Gonzalez, Gates, Sharpe and all others are mere carbon copies. |

He might not have been as quick as many of the RB's who are playing today, so I guess he'd just have to run people over or drag them for five or ten yards per play. He was a bad, bad man! And Sayers was absolutely amazing! Every football fan should enjoy watching his incredible highlight reels. If not for the knee injuries that cut his career short, I think he could have become to the RB position what Jerry Rice is to the WR position. |
QB-Colt Brennan
RB-Barry Sanders TE-Tony Gonzalez WR-Randy Moss WR-Jerry Rice
Colt! Good choice. How could the others overlook Colt? |
Re: Name your all time starting QB, RB, TE, and 2 WRS and why...
QB- Joe Montana. the name of the game is winning
RB- Jim Brown. simply put, the best TE- John Macky. was the start of pass catching tight ends WR- Jerry Rice. holds every record there is WR- Charlie Taylor. it amazes me how fast people have forgotten him |

His play in the 1982 playoff game against Miami was nothing short of phenomenal. This dude wasn't just motivated by money. He gave everything he had, all the time. Every player in the NFL could learn something from this man. It wasn't just about him. He would do whatever it took for his team to win. |

Re: Name your all time starting QB, RB, TE, and 2 WRS and why...
QB- Brady... When it is all said and done his numbers will speak for them self.
RB- Brown... Barely gets the nod over Payton but Brown was in a league of his own. WR- Rice... No need to comment. WR- Moss... Hard pick because he never blocks and attitude but you cant single cover him. TE- Winslow... Another close call over Sharpe but Winslow changed the game for TE's |
Re: Name your all time starting QB, RB, TE, and 2 WRS and why...
or you can just say Sammy Baugh for all the positions and let him punt too..
|
Re: Name your all time starting QB, RB, TE, and 2 WRS and why...
QB) Montana
RB) Jim Brown WR) Jerry Rice WR) Art Monk TE) Mark Bavaro ....................you knew there had to be a Giant somewhere!:) |
Re: Name your all time starting QB, RB, TE, and 2 WRS and why...
QB/John Elway - Most people would say Joe Montana or Dan Marino. Id roll with Elway because with him I know I have the complete package.
RB/Jim Brown - IMO he was the greatest RB of All-Time. Emmitt Smith and Walter Payton also were considered but when it came down to it I have to go with Jim Brown. WR/Jerry Rice - No need to post why. He is hands down the greatest WR ever. WR/Cris Carter - Some people might not agree with this pick but all Carter did was make clutch catches, catch TDs, and make some of the most insane grabs on the sideline ever. It was hard not to pick Don Hutson or Marvin Harrison here though. TE/Tony Gonzalez - The dude is just a machine at TE. He puts up numbers that rival most WRs. Which is just insane in todays era. |

Re: Name your all time starting QB, RB, TE, and 2 WRS and why...
QB - Montana (partly because of chemistry with you know who)
RB - Payton (sticking to guys I saw play) WR - Rice (obvious) WR - Monk (the whole package) TE - Gonzalez (almost went for Newsome but seen more of Gonzo) Just to be contrarian, guys I definitely wouldn't want... QB- Elway RB - Sanders WR - Moss WR - Owens TE - Bavaro |
