Thoughts with Jim Johnson:
Looks like the Eagles D coordinator may not being coaching this season. Going for his 2nd round of chemo therapy. I hope he pulls through, he's a staple of the NFL and one of the best at his job. My thoughts go out to him, his family, and the Eagles.
Link incoming, just heard it on NFL radio. Edit: http://www.myfoxphilly.com/dpp/news/local_news/051809_Johnson_Takes_Leave |
Re: Thoughts with Jim Johnson:
Definitely. I was surprised he even considered coaching this season. From all I've heard, it's really serious. There's a rumor that it's spread to his brain, but I don't know if that's legit.

Re: Thoughts with Jim Johnson:
i feel for him, and his family. he looked really bad the other day , when i saw him on T.V. seems like a really good guy

Re: Thoughts with Jim Johnson:
Cancer is a nasty thing. Chemotherapy is not much better. As tough as it is for him, it's just as tough for his family. Keep him and his family in your prayers.

Re: Thoughts with Jim Johnson:
man that sucks. johnson is one hell of a coach. i hope he pulls through.

Re: Thoughts with Jim Johnson:
I hate to see anyone going through that type of illness or situation. Hopefully healthier days are ahead for him.
|
Re: Thoughts with Jim Johnson:
Hope for the best ,,, if I had one wish it would be to end all disease .
|
Re: Thoughts with Jim Johnson:
As much as i hate the Eagles, i have always had respect for their defense and Coach Jim Johnson. Prayers are with him and his family as they endure these hard times.

Re: Thoughts with Jim Johnson:
Jim Johnson's defenses are fun to watch for any NFL fan. Except when he was tearing up your team. Hopefully he pulls through ok.

Re: Thoughts with Jim Johnson:
Clearly football is but a spit in the ocean of life here...but since this is a football board...losing Jim Johnson plus their leader on the field defensively (Brian Dawkins) this could really hurt the Eagles.

Re: Thoughts with Jim Johnson:
Cancer again. I pray for him and his family of course. And i hope everyone tries to take the time every year to raise money for research. Home many more loved ones will we continue to lose to this plague?!

Re: Thoughts with Jim Johnson:
Effing cancer. Damn that disease. My girlfriend and I have a close friend going through chemo right now for Hodgkin's Lymphoma. She's 29, runs marathons, doesn't smoke... you just never know.
My prayers are with Jim Johnson and his family. |
Re: Thoughts with Jim Johnson:
Johnson has a really uncanny feel how to use the blitz, which I feel is a lost art in the NFL, as too many coaches blitz now-a-days to create "pressure" on the quarterback rather than to systematically break down protection schemes.
He's one of the few coaches in the league who I would consider an asset on their sideline. I don't think their prospectus changes much with him out, but it's going to be tougher on their defense to stay near the top of the league. |
Re: Thoughts with Jim Johnson:
I admit i thought we should have interviewed McDermott as a DC when Williams left. IMO any coach from that Johnson tree has learned from a true defensive genius and is a valued commodity.

Re: Thoughts with Jim Johnson:
Prayers and good thoughts for a full recovery to Jim Johnson and to his family...
|
Re: Thoughts with Jim Johnson:
He's a really good D coordinator whose fighting a really bad disease I wish him well and hope that it hasn't reached his brain
|
Re: Thoughts with Jim Johnson:
One of the true class acts in the league. Wishing him and his family thoughts and prayers during this time.
|
Re: Thoughts with Jim Johnson:
There's a part of me that's relieved to see that we probably won't have to face Johnson this year but I definitely didn't want it to be like this. Still if Spags came out of their then chances are that they have another coach thats capable thanks to Johnson's tutelage. Guy's definitely one hell of a coach.
|
Re: Thoughts with Jim Johnson:
Johnson is a great coach and I wouldn't wish what he's going through on anybody. May he find the strength to get through this and God bless him and his family.
|
Re: Thoughts with Jim Johnson:
I hope hope he pulls through and I look forward to playing against this more than worthy advisory in the future. My thoughts and prayers go out to him, his family, and the Eagles. The defenses he has built have made our offense better over the years.
