Anyone worried???

With LaVar, Daniels, and Barrow out and Pierce probable with a rib injury is anyone worried that the Cowboys might be able to actually establish some sort of run game??? If they do it worries me because the pass attack is already pretty strong. Hopefully we can get some pressure on Vinny and knock him around a bit. Maybe Sean Taylor will actually see some good pt and he will have a shot at making the big plays he is capable of.

MTK 09-27-2004 12:16 PM

I'm not worried about the D much at all.

I'm more concerned about the offense. Other than the 64 yard run by Portis and the opening drive against the Giants, the offense has been riddled with turnovers and 3 and outs. We need to establish the run and hit some big plays tonight, and not turn the ball over of course.

I think the D will take care of business. The run D has been very stout so far and I think that will continue. If we can pressure Vinny he will make a mistake or two. The key tonight is our secondary against their WR's.

cpayne5 09-27-2004 12:17 PM

The Cowboys have no running game right now with Julius Jones out. Yeah, they have Eddie George, but he his ancient and it shows. Vinny has made some good plays when he's had time, but also has had his share of INTs. He has 2 TDs and 3 INTs in 2 games.

I'm not really worried about the D. I have faith in Williams' and his guys. I am more worried about the offense correcting their stupid mistakes.

PSUskinsfan11 09-27-2004 12:21 PM

Yeah I am pretty sick of seeing stupid mistakes every week first on a saturday when i watch PSU then on sunday /monday with us. Hopefully we can return to week 1 form.

Big C 09-27-2004 12:25 PM

eddie george has been overrated for so long. when was the last time he got 4 ypc? he is durable, but thats all hes got goin really. no way he can be a featured back

crlesh 09-27-2004 12:26 PM

I think that our defense may be our best offense tonight. We just need to hope that our offense isn't giving the points away. Who knows at this point in the season - both teams are still trying to figure out their on-field identities.

bridaman51 09-27-2004 12:26 PM

Of course I am worried I am sick and tired of losing to the cowboys. I have way to many friends and family that are cowboy fans and I have to hear them all year long. I am the lone Skin fan. There are to many big names that are injured I really hope Gibbs and Williams have some tricks up there sleeves because it would really stink to get our butts kicked on national TV.

SUNRA 09-27-2004 12:36 PM

Not worried a bit. I have great confidence that Gregg Williams will work to cause turnovers to our benefit. We need for our defense to score some points against this team. Brunell just needs to play within his abilities and not fumble for a turnover or worse. I'm looking to see McCants activated for this game and to make his presence known. He should split time with Gardner and ultimatedly take his spot. Sean Taylor has a good game and possibly causing several turnovers. Portis redeems himself. We win 21, Dallas 14

Gmanc711 09-27-2004 12:56 PM

I'm not worried at all. The Cowboys offense will be shut down by our defense. We will do enough on offense to get over the hump and whoop those cowgirls.

I've always like Eddie Goerge. He really is a class act, even though he is now a Cowboy.

He went to Fork Union Military Academy (HS) in central VA, that's where I first saw him play.

That Guy 09-27-2004 01:46 PM

please please bench gardner... we've got 3 guys more than willing to take his place and hold onto the damned ball ;)

illdefined 09-27-2004 01:50 PM

yeah man, Gardner. he's had more than enough chances. put him down.

also, in spite of his first week performance (due to Williams), dont you think Lott could be more effective at Bowen's position along with Taylor??

That Guy 09-27-2004 02:01 PM

but bowen started to finally nail guys in the DIFFERENT color jerseys, though he still blows chunks in pass coverage... its soo bad.

illdefined 09-27-2004 02:07 PM

we've got a bigger, faster hitter in Taylor. we need speed and coverage back there, else we can't terrorize the qb with the blitzes

JWsleep 09-27-2004 02:11 PM

I am a little worried, yes. If I were the roids, I'd line up the tightend AWAY from Warner (making that the weakside), pull the fullback, and run at Warner and Marshall. They are both undersized, and a power game should be able to pressure them. This is a big reason why it's important for us to dictate tempo on offense and get ahead in this game. It'll keep them from runingn over the weakened area of the D.

But I'm sure Coach Williams knows all this and more. Ultimately, I have faith that he'll have this group of guys ready to kick ass.

Sheriff Gonna Getcha 09-27-2004 02:13 PM

As to Gardner's critics - did anyone see that 50-yarder he caught where he really had to lay out to get it....sick. I know he drops some easy ones, but he also makes some amazing catches (hence his nickname 50-50).

Gibbs obviously thinks enough of Gardner to start him ahead of James Thrash, Taylor Jacobs, and Darnerien McCants.

Big C 09-27-2004 02:14 PM

how we all turn on bowen afer his awesome first game...

Sheriff Gonna Getcha 09-27-2004 02:15 PM

I haven't liked Bowen that much since he doesn't play well in coverage. But, I too am surprised at how Bowen's supporters seem quiet or even critical of him.

SkinsRock 09-27-2004 02:17 PM

Yeah, also, with all the talk of E George, don't discount the rookie RB Lee that they have in there now since Jones is out. That (him coming out of nowhere with a big game) would be the typical kind of scenario that could bite us in the ass. But with that said, I have complete confidence that Williams will account for everything so the D will "just stop 'em!"

That Guy 09-27-2004 02:18 PM

its not turning on him, we all know (i think), bowen sucks at coverage... he's a run D/blitzing guy, not a CB...

celts32 09-27-2004 04:21 PM

I am very worried. Parcels always gave Gibbs problems even when Gibbs had big game tested teams. Gibbs has 2 games under his belt this time around and an offense that has done nothing yet. Anyone who says they are not worried has their head burried in the sand. I wish they had not sh*t the bed in the Meadowlands last Sunday so that they would have a little more room for error tonight. This is going to be a very tough game for the Skins to win tonight...

Yeah I saw that, definitely a sweet catch, problem is I also saw him drop a TD pass a few plays later.

celts32 09-27-2004 04:34 PM

Gardner has been a dissapointment. Yes, Gibbs is starting him now because he has the most talent. It's only been 2 games so far. I don't expect that Gibbs will sit back though for 16 games and watch him keep dropping passes. An NFL WR needs to make that TD catch against the Giants 100 out of 100 times. That was inexcusable...

SkinsRock 09-27-2004 04:41 PM

I think most of us are on the same page with Gardner. Hopefully he will prove us wrong tonight and have a great game, and if not, next week he should be sitting on the bench.

ChillWill 09-27-2004 04:50 PM

I'm worried about covering those big, fast receivers. This will be the biggest test so far for Smoot.

S. Taylor may prove effective against Meshawn.

CrazyCanuck 09-27-2004 05:03 PM

- Start Gardner! (I may not say that next week)

- RUSH VINNY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - I want our D to do to Vinny what the Dallas D did to Ramsey last year.

THIS IS A HUGE GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
how we all turn on bowen afer his awesome first game...
against no-threat receivers he blitzed well when no one expected it. but after the novelty wore off and offenses caught wind of it, he's back to his ineffective self.

RedskinRat 09-27-2004 05:31 PM

Not worried in the slightest.

We should win this game handily.

BIGREDSKINFAN63 09-27-2004 05:38 PM

if brunnel or hasselback play the whole game,i ai'nt worried.if ramsey gets in i'll get a major miagraine cause the skins will lose.i hear its supposed to rain, well i do'nt remember the skins under gibbs losing a lot in the rain.i think the defense will bail out the offense again,if ramsey keeps his ass on the pine.

illdefined 09-27-2004 05:38 PM

i'm worried. we should've beaten the Giants handily. anytime i see fumbled snaps, and forced interceptions i'm worried.

I think Williams generally tries to keep Bowen out of situations where he's going to be caught one-on-one with a receiver, giving that duty to Lott. But teams will be able to create favorable matchups against Bowen and they will take advantage of them, like the Giants did with Tim Carter.

I like Bowen as a run defender and a blitzer, but he's a huge liability in coverage. I'd feel much more comfortable with Lott and Taylor in there, even if Taylor has a lot of learning to do in terms of respecting the speed of NFL receivers. At least Taylor should overcome that learning deficit pretty quickly. I don't know if Bowen will ever overcome his speed deficit.

That won't happen again this season, they probably still have ringing in their ears after the coaches got through with them.
