Poll: Pick a knucklehead
Word out of Denver is that Brandon Marshall is now demanding a trade (ProFootballTalk.com - Schefter: Brandon Marshall Asked To Be Traded) out of Denver. He's been a nightmare off the field but is a baller on the field.
Word from Drew Rosenhaus from his Twitter page is that another 'secret' team has expressed strong interest in Plaxico Burress. Drew Rosenhaus (RosenhausSports) on Twitter We all know Michael Vick is a free agent now (Atlanta Falcons formally cut ties with Michael Vick - ESPN) If the Redskins had to pick up one of the available knuckleheads between the three (no cop out option of 'none of the above') which one would you want the Redskins to get? I'd want Burress. He brings something to the WR corp that we don't have which is a big body that can get down the field. I think Thomas is going to become a Marshall clone (on the field!) so I wouldn't want to get him, plus he'd cost a ransom in picks. So who would you choose? |
re: Poll: Pick a knucklehead
Marshall is Bigger, Stronger and Faster than Burress.
Marshall hands down. |
re: Poll: Pick a knucklehead
Brandon Marshall...young and a true baller!
|
re: Poll: Pick a knucklehead
Interesting that the Broncos today signed Kyle Orton's favorite target....Brandon Lloyd!
|
Re: Poll: Pick a knucklehead
I would rather have Marshall big time! This guy is an amazing talent and would be a perfect fit for our west coast offense. I would say Campbell needs this type of receiver to improve but we are not sure if Campbell is our future quarterback but still he will make the quarterback better. Mike Shanahan even said that Marshall is one of the few young receivers in the league who will only get better throughout his career.

I'm kinda surprised Bears let him walked, he had a decent season for Bears.. Compared to all other WRs on the roster list.. Edit: Just ignore the Lloyd compliment, just saw his stats at free agent thread and it's not actually a decent season  For the thread question, I definitely would prefer Marshall over those two other players.. |
Re: Poll: Pick a knucklehead
My vote goes to M Vick. This guy had it all, was one of the highest paid players in the league and blew it over some dumb sh**. I hope it was worth it Mike.
|
Re: Poll: Pick a knucklehead
Marshall is a beast!!!!!! I am all for it!!!!!!
|
Re: Poll: Pick a knucklehead
but if i had to pick one for the skins it would be Marshall

DB, Vick was one of the most athletic guys in the NFL, but was too inconsistent as a passer to want him on our squad. JC is a better passer than Vick hands down. If we had a real "Posse" for JC he would be hitting the 3,000-3,500 yards passing range every season. Not sure if we could do that with Vick. |

Re: Poll: Pick a knucklehead
I didnt mean that post as i would want Vick, just that he was stupid for risking all that he had for so dumb sh** and got caught. now its all gone.
|
Re: Poll: Pick a knucklehead
Burress. As far as knuckleheads go, he's the least likely to do something stupid to hurt his team. Though most of that's a product of age. At Marshall's age, he was pretty crazy dumb.
|
Re: Poll: Pick a knucklehead
Plaxico's nickname should've been Chedder Bob but it was good nonetheless.
My vote is Brandon Marshall. The man is built like David Boston before he got too big and started to suck. Who can cover that kind of size and strength? I'd give up next year's first round pick for him. |
Re: Poll: Pick a knucklehead
We need a receiver of Marshall's caliber to command a double team everytime where our 2nd year receivers can operate on single coverage and open up the running game.
|
Re: Poll: Pick a knucklehead
Jeez, this is tough. I think you would go with Marshall since, at the moment, he can step on the field (Plaxico has a couple of legal hurdles and needs the commissioner's blessing). As far as who is tougher to cover, that is a tough call. When Plax is focused, there is no one in the NFL who can cover him. I am just glad that he is out of New York. He abuses us every year.
However, this isn't an ideal situation. They are both complete idiots. I didn't mention Vick because our coaching staff doesn't seem like they want to expand the playbook to the point where Vick could actually help us. |
Re: Poll: Pick a knucklehead
Marshall. You can make an argument for him being the best WR in football, or at least the guy who now has the most upside. He definitely is a moron though. Any team that trades for him will have to ban McDonalds bags, because he might slip on one and fall through a plate glass window or something.
|
Re: Poll: Pick a knucklehead
Talking from a pure talent perspective I would take Marshall.
|
Re: Poll: Pick a knucklehead
I can't believe so many people actually picked Plax over Marshall. IMO, Marshall is simply a far better player. They both have had their off field issues.
Plus Marshall is young & on the cusp of, as someone said, maybe being the best in the nfl. Dude runs w/the ball far better than Plax & is consistent game to game. WE have a trade history w/Denver. I'm not saying we should try & get him, but watch out for Danny! |

Denver would certainly want a high price tag to pull the trigger on any deal. And could we afford him?(silly question the way the FO massages the cap, but he would still be high priced I would think) |

IF Danny is dead set on trading for him, I would think they could package Thomas or Kelly & a pick. Denver would ask for at least a 2nd. If Minnesota gets Farve, or maybe even if they don't, I would think they might make a play for Marshall. Sure hope none of the other nfc east teams gets involved! |

However, as a member of the reality based community I would consider such a move unlikely. |
Re: Poll: Pick a knucklehead
I definitely would not entertain a trade for Marshall. We drafted two guys last year and we're still not sure what we have in those two. Who knows, we could have our own Marshall right under our noses.
|
Re: Poll: Pick a knucklehead
Marshall hands down. Back to back 100+ catch seasons. But to be honest I'd have a hard time rooting for a guy who beats women.

I've been saying all offseason that I think Thomas can be a Marshall clone in terms of production. That being said, an offer of Thomas and a 2nd may be enough to entice Denver. I'm not advocating it, just saying it'd be feasible for us to make that deal. |

Funny everytime someone mentions JC's stats it always followed with an "if". If he had a line, If he had better WR's, If the coach would let him take more chances, "if" he had more time in the system. When will he use up all his "if's". |
Re: Poll: Pick a knucklehead
Let's not go down the JC/Vick/QB road yet again.

My curiosity was peaked because we have made it this far without trading any of our top picks next year, and this suddenly pops up. Now does the FO think about making a trade? Having said that, we were not really in the market for any other big name receiver that was out there, so I doubt we will be looking that way now. (I am sure that Marshall would have a career year under SH's tutelage though!!) |
Re: Poll: Pick a knucklehead
Marshall and Plaxico are equals in my eyes in turns of ability, but Marshall will actually play this year.
Though if choosing between trading for Marshall or signing Plaxico, I'd take signing Plaxico. I'd rather take a year of an older guy sitting on the bench than trade away a bunch of picks for the younger and more talented Brandon Marshall. I prefer to keep the picks. Vick isn't even an option for the vet min, IMO. The Redskins have enough activists coming after them (Native Americans), we don't need PETA piling on. |
Re: Poll: Pick a knucklehead
I would NOT trade Malcolm Kelly or Fred Davis in a potential Marshall deal. The highest I would go is Devin Thomas and a third rounder.
|

You would rather have Kelly over Thomas? I agree about Davis. I think he is a stud and may be more talented than Cooley. |
You would rather have Kelly over Thomas? I agree about Davis. I think he is a stud and may be more talented than Cooley.
Of course.
I should re-phrase: I'd do Kelly for Marshall straight up. No additional compensation. Of course, that limits Denver's desire to take that trade. |

THANK YOU !!!! I swear I get sick and tired of every excuse in the world thrown out there for Jason Campbell. He doesn't have a line but there is enough of a line for Portis to go over 1,000. The Defense needs to give him better chances by creating turnovers. I mean let's be serious. And I say that to say this, it would be Vick. You could get me all the receivers in the world but until we have someone that will throw that ball then it won't matter. I'd love to have Brandon but if you won't throw the ball then there's no point. Get me Vick, so the guys I have now can feel as though the ball might come their way when they run down the field. |
Re: Poll: Pick a knucklehead
I certainly don't feel a trade for Marshall is right for us at this time, but it's not often that a guy of his age & ability is on the market. So, you have to think the skins are looking into it.
Denver saved us from ourselves once this spring by demanding a high price for cutler, so expect them to ask for a lot for marshall. Plus, he wants a new deal for big $. I don't know what kind of cap & bankroll situtation the cowpokes have, but JJ will test the waters I'm sure. The g men might have the cap space & would be smart to try & get him. |
Re: Poll: Pick a knucklehead
How about this guy?
Donte Stallworth of Cleveland Browns reaches financial agreement with family of victim Mario Reyes - ESPN Marshall is probably the best of the three, but he'd also cost the most. And we just invested, fairly heavily, on young receivers. We need to get away from the mentality of giving up on young players just to trade more picks to replace those players. We don't know that Thomas and Kelly will be successful for us, but we'll never find out if we don't give them a chance. Plax, at least, should cost less. But I wouldn't take him either for the same reasons listed above. Gun to my head, I'll pick up Vick (and take my chances with PETA, Betty White, and Bob Barker), hope he regains some value and use him as trade bait next off-season. |

Seriously. Kill some dogs, get 2 years in federal prison. Kill a man, get 30 days in the state lockup. That's a joke. |
