Brandon Marshall anyone
Brandon Marshall wants out of Denver. This is some kind of pipe dream buy could you imagine him as the Number 1 Reciever with Moss at the two and Randel El I the slot?!! The price is reportedly a first and a third in 2010. Would you guys make that trade?
|
Re: Brandon Marshall anyone
Not a chance in hell...i never want to give up another pick again. If he's truly disgruntled Denver will let him go cheaper but I think we ought to stay out of the action anyway.

Re: Brandon Marshall anyone
He shoots HE SCORES!!! Right before the closing buzzer!
|
Re: Brandon Marshall anyone
The Skins should get a discount since Marshall was drafted with a 4th round pick that Washington traded to Denver.

Sweet, can't wait for someone to say how our FO are morons for not having drafted him instead. |
Re: Brandon Marshall anyone
Marshall is no where near good enough for a first and third. I mean, no one here would give a first and third for Boldin, and he seems like a much, much better complement to Santana Moss than Marshall.
We do have a need at WR, so I'd offer as much as a third and a fifth, or a third and Devin Thomas for him, but again, he's more valuable to Denver than he is to us. Perhaps i'd do something like a second for Marshall and a fourth, but again, Denver's incentive to sell him off for that low is basically nil. |
Re: Brandon Marshall anyone
Maybe Josh McDaniels can do some tape study on Devin Thomas and see a bunch of lining up in the wrong place/pushing off, and think, "hey, this is the kind of guy I can win with".

Re: Brandon Marshall anyone
uhh...no
|
Re: Brandon Marshall anyone
He's a talented headcase.
|
Re: Brandon Marshall anyone
good thing we didn't just spend 3 2nd round picks on players who catch the ball last year... oh wait...
|
Re: Brandon Marshall anyone
I would love to have him, but in all honesty he probably wouldn't like JC too much because
he had Cutler with that laser fast release, and Campbell is like Orton (Average at best). Plus we have to see if Thomas and Kelly are ready. |
Re: Brandon Marshall anyone
Devin, a two, and a four and I'm in.
|
Re: Brandon Marshall anyone
What's the word.................... No

I'm not |
Re: Brandon Marshall anyone
only if he would really help our offense. . . and I don't think he would help that much. No doubt he would upgrade our receiving corp, but that's not really our problem on offense (although we need production from one of the youngsters). If we had a good O-line and were on the verge of being an elite offensive unit (like we could be on defense this year), then I say go ahead and try for Marshall, BUT we are obviously no where close. He wouldn't fix our passing game, just make it slightly better.

Re: Brandon Marshall anyone
#1. I'm tired of giving up draft picks.
#2. Is he truly worth it? #3. Maybe one pick in 2010 and one pick in 2011. #4. I would not give up our 1st round pick at t his point. Depending on how JC does we may be looking for a QB next yr. When given the "Who would you do" in Head cases I picked Marshall the whole time wondering when this thread was going to show up. He definitly would make the WR corpse better. How about we give them ARE plus like a third round pick. lol. He definitly could be used in different packages. He has speed and is shifty as well as being able to take a hit. Could you see Moss, Thomas, and Marshall on the field together. whooo hooo. 1st and 3rd is too much. If Denver would negotiate then if I was DS I would talk to them. |
Re: Brandon Marshall anyone
not gonna happen... We are riding our sophmores to a title or hell
|
Re: Brandon Marshall anyone
Brandon Marshall is a talented WR, but he has some off the field issues that are a Red Flag. If you trade for him than you will have to give him a new big contract. We don't have the money to risk on him. Lets just stand fast and see what our 2nd round WR corp will produce this season. I do believe we will one day develope our on WR draft pick. ( Moss, ARE,Lloyd,Coles,Patten) enough is enough is it so hard to draft a WR that can make an impact on our team? Please D.Thomas and M. Kelly we need you to step up.
NOOOOOO on Marshall........................ |
Re: Brandon Marshall anyone
I'll trade Suisham and 3 kickoff tees for Marshall.....no wait Suisham and 2 kickoff tees. Lets go go crazy here.
|
Re: Brandon Marshall anyone
Talented but NO!!!
|
Re: Brandon Marshall anyone
i wont get excited about acquiring a good WR until we get a good QB.

Re: Brandon Marshall anyone
Marshall is up there w/the best, he's a notch above Boldin IMO & he's really just hitting stride. But, there are the external issues.
Any team would have to consider a reasonable deal, especially if Denver can't get the price they want & they reduce their offer. Still, I think it's time we live w/what we have as others have said. Just spent a ton of $ on a guy that is dominant but has a history of anger problems. Don't think it would be prudent to do that on the other side of the ball as well. |
Re: Brandon Marshall anyone
Offer them something decent, maybe two thirds, and stay pat. Maybe up to a 2nd. He would instantly be our #1WR. Personally, I think by opening day we see Moss at 1, Thomas or Kelly at 2, and ARE in the slot.
As they said on NFL radio last night. There's a reason Pittsburgh, who didn't have any WRs at the time, let ARE go pretty easily. |
Re: Brandon Marshall anyone
^^ They did have Ward though.

Re: Brandon Marshall anyone
^^ They did have Ward though.
In a nutshell that shows you how Pitt operates & why they're successful; they let Plax & ARE go & re upped w/Ward. Not putting ARE down, but they realized he was more of a fan favorite/celebrity for his passes to Ward than he was a starting wr. |
Re: Brandon Marshall anyone
They are lucky to have gotten Santonio though...
Pittsburgh isn't good b/c of the WR's they have or have not. They are good b/c they have a solid defensive core of players (which we have) and a battle tested QB who knows what it takes to win (which we, to this point, have not). After this season we will know a little bit better about our QB situation and should be able to make a definitive move in one direction or another. I say keep the picks for now...there will likely be some other star WR who will become available next offseason. Or maybe, and i know this is a hard pill to swallow for a lot of ppl here, our FO was right about one of our 3 2nd rd. picks last year. |
Re: Brandon Marshall anyone
no thanks. guy is a good wr, but also is batshit crazy. if we want to to blow some money or draft picks, it should be on someone for the OL. i say we keep our picks and hope for some real results from at least someone named williams, thomas, and/or kelly.
|
Re: Brandon Marshall anyone
Keep the picks, we will need a LT to groom next yr and maybe a QB

I'm saying they're good because of their overall approach to personel. I just used the wr's as an example of that. That solid core of defensive players is there because they haven't overspent on any one position area. |

We need an OL to give our Qb time to throw the ball downfield ! Maybe I trade one of our WR's straight up for BM , but NO way I give them 2010 draft pick for him . |
Re: Brandon Marshall anyone
Id go Brandon Marshall for Santana Moss straight up! Marshall is a #1 reciever, something we havent had in yrs. If you think he cant change our pass offense, youre just BSing yourself... A good #1 reciever doesnt need a great QB..Take a look at the WR in Texas(whos thier QB?) exactly!and who cares. The offense with Marshall, Thomas,Cooley and Randle El in the slot is alot more intimidating...

I would not take a chance on this kid. His immaturity is through the roof, but I think he'll realize through a trade (a la Randy Moss) that this will be his final chance wherever he goes and he'll excell. |

Ben is a playmaker and the Steeler franchise is just solid from top to bottom. They could take our receivers and win the Super Bowl with them. Ben got sacked a ton, but no one used that as an excuse for poor QB play. He kept plays alive with his feet, shed tackles and got the ball downfield. |

The Steelers pass protection was as pathetic as ours last year. They got the ball downfield, because Ben's not afraid to grip it and rip it. |

Nice observation...it's like somehow we hear JC as a reason to not bring in talent on the one hand cuz he's not up to par and then like he's the main reason we need to bring in extra talent on the other hand, again cuz he's not up to par. Whatever... JC is on par w/ the classiest players in the game. His attitude and behavior is beyond reproach and I can think of 1) no other guy I'd rather have leading this team 2) no other guy who deserves success more. |
