Haynesworth gets lucky, again...

I must admit it sounds like BIG AL may be a PUNK!!! I can't forget when he Stomped on Gurode, even though he is a COWGIRL. Hopefully this guy stays out of trouble considering Goodell is on a suspension spree. |
Re: Haynesworth gets lucky, again...
Personally I think it would be pretty ridiculous to take away someone's ability to earn a living over a traffic offense.
|
Re: Haynesworth gets lucky, again...
I don't know how this makes him a punk?

Re: Haynesworth gets lucky, again...
I speed all the time. Im such a bad ass, Haynesworth doesn't have shit on this MOFO.
In all seriousness, does this really need to be discussed? |
Re: Haynesworth gets lucky, again...
I guess that makes about 25% of the drivers on 64 & 81 that whizzed by me today punks, cause they would've been hit with reckless driving charges too if caught.

Well any story from Mike Florio makes a Redskins look like a punk. |
Re: Haynesworth gets lucky, again...
By show of hands, who regularly speeds?
Well any story from Mike Florio makes a Redskins look like a punk.
Heck, it's not even Florio's story I'm responding to, it's the OP. |
Re: Haynesworth gets lucky, again...
AH has a history of problems, this is true. It's all relative of course.
Not to stir things up on what seems to many a needless thread, but I couldn't leave this alone. Bear w/me. It's interesting that people don't see speeding as an issue because "everybody does it." Even when speeding, driver error & reckless driving are the cause of most highway injuries & deaths in our country. People will get so up in arms about drunk driving (and they should), but it is still not to blame for most accidents. People seem to think drunk driving accidents could be avoided, which is true. But why don't the same people pass that judgement on someone that speeded & drove recklessly when the result is the same; someone gets hurt? |
Re: Haynesworth gets lucky, again...
Freddy G, I see what you're saying. But, what I gathered from the article, was that Florio was complaining about the Tennessee justice system. Which is fine. Then the OP said he thought Haynesworth might be a punk. For what? For speeding? That's what I don't get. How does that make him a punk?

Re: Haynesworth gets lucky, again...
Ok, I normally do not give one bit of credence, nor regularly speak about articles that are posted on ProFootballTalk. To me that are the internet tabloid of the NFL and have very little in the way of journalistic credibility.
But......the point is NOT that he was speeding, if that were the case (simply speeding) heck, even PFT would not print it. The point they are TRYING to make is that it was his resposibility to REPORT all legal infractions because he was on probation. And that did not happen. I think the point that they are trying to make is, if it were you or me that was on probabtion, and we failed to notify our probation officer of any legal infractions we would be thrown under the bus. But I think the author is trying to point out that simply because he is a celebrity, this was swept aside. Again, very little credence to PFT, but I think that is what they were saying. No one cares if he was speeding. |

I can't wait. Maybe we can then talk about some interesting things. |

Often, it is the government's responsibility to make sure that their stuff is straight, and that one agency talks to another. I think lots of people have "beat the system" because of police or probation mistakes. also, if he only had one month probation (i don't know, and I could be wrong), even if it had been reported, I doubt anything serious would have come of it. Probably just an extension of his probation and probably a fine. Overall, this just seems like a re-hash of old news in the slow off-season. And I am sure the NBC Sports logo on the top somehow makes this all the more newsworthy now  |

If that is indeed the case, was he required to notify his probation officer that someone had an accident near him? If he wasn't cited, it could/should be interpreted that he did nothing wrong. |

Re: Haynesworth gets lucky, again...
The best part of this thread is we have a Dallas fan here talking about players taking responsibility for their actions. You might want to have that talk with JJ.

Actually, and hate to defend Dallas, they have done a very good job this off-season in getting rid of the bad eggs, and bringing in comparable players with less baggage. |

I speed as much as I can get away with.. corvettes are fast and I prove that reguarly.

Re: Haynesworth gets lucky, again...
Florio is a whiney little bitch. It has become extremely evident ever since he got all wound up over the CP VS. Zorn rumor; which he defended with unprofessional language and anger. I know that I am not one to talk, but I am not a so called "journalist" either.
I have a feeling that if he were a member of this site he would have been banned day one. Why people keep reaching out for his material and posting it on this site is beyond me. We all know he is going to say something retarded to get us wound up, so why even bother? If I were a mod, I would lock all threads that use PFT as the opening link and give a 1 week suspension to all members who post a PFT link in a thread. |
if you spend just a half day at any district co in moco or pg co you would see this all the time. so many minor offender cases fall thru the cracks every day, especialy on unsuper prob or PBJ or STET status. im actually think it is the other way around. that AH would be at a disadvantage b/c of his name recognition and that some low level PO would be watching AH's case more closely than his other average probationers. ive seen plenty of reckless driving charges dropped b/c the officer doesnt show up. just spend a day in judge kim's courtroom. go skins!! |

Re: Haynesworth gets lucky, again...
From Redskins Insider:
Haynesworth Pleads No Contest Washington Redskins DT Albert Haynesworth pled no contest this morning to reckless driving, a Class B misdemeanor, and was given a three-month suspended sentence, according to Terry Wood, assistant district attorney of the 21st judicial district in Tennessee. Haynesworth will be under three months supervised probation, will make a $5,000 donation to a charity and must also complete 25 hours of community service and an eight-hour defensive driving class. The charges stem from a December accident in which another passenger was seriously injured. The second count, driving with an expired registration, was dropped. Haynesworth will make a donation to 119 Frontline, a charity that provides counseling for firefighters, police officers and first responders, according to Wood. |
Re: Haynesworth gets lucky, again...
So now that it is all resolved, is there any likelihood that Goodell will suspend AH for a game or two?
|
Re: Haynesworth gets lucky, again...
I don't think he violated the Player Conduct Policy here.

A fine if anything. He's didn't violate his probation, already paid restitution to the accident victim, shouldn't get anything from the league in terms of games. |
