Mattyk's Training Camp Hero Poll

You know what I'm talking about. That guy who probably won't make the final roster but he'll tear it up in August and you'll say "That's my guy! That's my favorite player. With him we're hoisting the Lombardi trophy in February....arrggh, Snyderatto you're so stupid for cutting him. Buncha morons in the front office"

Who will be that guy for you this summer? Who will be your Sultan McCullough, your Babe Laufenberg?

I, of course, will be driving the Chase Chuckwagon

(DISCLAIMER: Colt Brennan not allowed because he is everyone's hero)

The poll is public

First of all Colt doesn't count because we all know he is going to be starting come week 8. :)

Seriously though, Marcus Mason or some other younger back should make the squad this year.

Re: Mattyk's Training Camp Hero Poll

Mitchell will overtake Mason this summer. Mason is old news, everyone will be salivating over Mitchell as he snags those spirals out of the summer air, striding gracefully down the field, and burning 3rd and 4th stringers in preseason games. Jerry Rice Jr. here we come!

yeah, I thought about Alridge but I think he actually has a legitimate shot, as does Mason. This is more about guys who probably don't have that great a shot but you know you're going to fall in love with them this summer

Definitely Jarmon.

Do you think he'll be better than Billy McMullen?

I'm helping to inflate Marko Polo's numbers! He's leading the pack early. I can hardly wait for TC to start to see those snags out of mid-air! I have about worn out the DVR for the eight saved games from last year. I'll let the newbies guess which games!

Edit: Ooooh! Forgot the purpose of this thread, and I already voted. Darn! No, I don't think Marko will be cut. I'm probably in the Chase.

I'm going with Joe Mickles

Re: Mattyk's Training Camp Hero Poll

You can't have a poll w/out Colt Brennan in it. Some guy the other day, saw my Skins cap and told me Colt Brennan should be starting. I couldn't even respond. I think I said maybe in a couple of years.

I'll go for Mitchell too. Mason will have another good preseason too. I'm sure everyone will want to replace CP w/ Mason.

Re: Mattyk's Training Camp Hero Poll

I went with Mitchell after hovering over Daniel. I think Mitchell will make some long catches (which is the only thing that he did in college) and draw oohs and aahs. Daniel's fans will be drowned out by the Colt folks, I think.

Re: Mattyk's Training Camp Hero Poll

I'm going with Mitchell. After what we saw of Thomas and Kelly in training camp last year, this guy will look like a steal. I actually think he has a chance of making the team. At least the Practice Squad. Go long! Go long!

Reminds me of Ernie "Big Ern" McCracken of Kingpin, "go deep...deeper."

Definitely Marko. He's Darkerian McCants, Anthony Mix and Billy McMullen rolled up into one (minus Mix's pesky alleged pedophilia).

Pineapple Jesus may be the funniest thing I've heard all week.

Are we supposed to vote for who we think will actually make a decent contribution to the team, or who's knob will be polished the most in preseason?
Are we supposed to vote for who we think will actually make a decent contribution to the team, or who's knob will be polished the most in preseason?
Um...the player whose knob you most want to polish I guess. The guy you're most excited about seeing this summer that you think is going to have a strong summer...but realistically probably doesn't have a strong shot of making the team. I mean, more than anything, I want to see Campbell and Kelly, Thomas, and Davis this summer. But they're all making the team so they don't count.

Exactly!! I am all for keeping him just in case the other two don't produce this year. One of the 3 has to do something.. I hope!!

Moss, ARE, Thomas, Kelly, Mitchell

Doesn't sound too bad as long as one of them overtake ARE for the second receiver spot!!

DB , L. Holmes . I think he will make the PS this year . I would love to see WR Elio , catch a bomb from JC , race down the sideline and leap into the endzone from the 15 yard line :).

LOL...should we put a pick-up truck in the end zone for him to jump onto? It could be sponsorable! The Ford F-1 Touchdown!

It'll probably be Chase, although if he performs well he may be a practice squad guy. I don't see Brennan perfroming so poorly that Zorn will pull the plug on him for Chase.

When did I vote on this poll? Anyway Marko Mitchell is my bet to be the best of this bunch but honestly I think the guy will contribute this year especially if Kelly or Thomas are bothered by injuries again.

Damn skippy! Chase will be the #3 week 1, the # 2 week 8, and the SB MVP in 2010

My vote is Elio.

He is going to make 3 or so monster plays and still get cut.

Re: Mattyk's Training Camp Hero Poll

I voted Mitchell, but I wouldn't be surprised if he is at least a PS player. Really, if we go 5 deep at WR who's no. 5? Seems to me if MM can make a ST contribution he'll bypass the PS.

I think with the age of TC and his cap hit will help CB move up to the 2 spot unless he completely outshines Colt in practice and in the preseason. If its close i think he is gone.
I chose Marko in the poll, Ive heard nothing but good things about him out of Redskins camp. They say the guy catches everything that comes his way.

I was totally gonna say Colt anyway, but when I saw you put "will be cut" that takes Colt off the list...he won't be cut!

Mason is my guy. The guy has some talent there, and likely won't make the team.

Re: Mattyk's Training Camp Hero Poll

For whatever reason I'm partial to Mason. "He's my boy." I think there's talent there. I think his getting let go had nothing to do with he sucks and played good only against second rate players. Other wise the team would have moved on but instead brought him back bidding for him and getting him over San Diego. If he is not worth it then why not let him move on? The team likes something about him.

However you left alot of people off that list and to be honest I could have picked others. I like all the new young talent....Alridge, Dorsey, Mitchell, Eloi, Barnes, C.Daniel, Eddie Williams(FB), Jason Williams(WR), even the young rookie LB talent. I would presume the ...."That's my Boy" picks should be relegated to non drafted players. Most of the drafted players will most likely make the team unless they are really really bad. You know Vinny will not want to look bad having to let a draft pick go and hearing the "I told you so's." So that leaves all the young talent brought in trying to make the team in my book. But honestly I am excited to see all this young talent. It's just a shame they all can't make the team.

Re: Mattyk's Training Camp Hero Poll

Why is this even a discussion? The clear choice is Chase Daniel. By far the best 4th string QB on our team right now. Colt is going to split playing time with TC, but Chase will have the entire 4th quarter against real live NFL scrubs to light it up. You thought Colt was a preseason MVP? Wait 'till my boy C-Dan tear it up.

I didn't leave anyone out. If anything the list is too long. The only option is Chase Daniel.

Seriously though, Other covers all the other players. I wasn't going to start listing the roster.

I guess I somewhat might have missed the point also. It sounds like people are posting players they believe won't make the team....and in that case I should have picked C.Daniel. LOL. Unless he beats out Colt or the team decides to let Collins go to get younger at the position C.Daniel is gone.

Training Camp heroes generally don't make the team...that's what makes them training camp heroes.

If Chase Daniel actually makes the team, every one here is adding the suffix "Hearts Chase Daniel" to their username

SBXVII Hearts Chase Daniel
Sheriff Gonna Getcha Hearts Chase Daniel
Jsarno Hearts Chase Daniel

and so on...
