Who's going to camp?
 

Anyone headed to training camp? Im going Sunday 8/2 and praying its not humid or crowded! Also does anyone have any info on how to get the VIP access for practice? Thanks!

I am thinking about it. I normally go but really there is not much to see. I wish they would move it back to Carsile, PA. One of my favorite parts of summer was going to see them scrimmage in Labotrobe against the Steelers.

Redskin Park is just to damn small to host all those people.

I agree. I liked Frostburg better than Carlisle, though. To me, Ashburn is *too* accessible and it ends up being overcrowded. I choose to skip training camp these days.

BTW, who are these guys?! If I recall correctly, this picture was taken one score minus 14 years ago.

I will probably go one day next week, either Wednesday or Thursday. If anyone plans on going those days, let me know!

Frostburger was nice, I also went twice, I think they were only there maybe three years. Frostburger was cool becuse it was so far away not many people came out. Carsile was cool becasue you actually had stuff to do at night. I like the bar the Candy Shop, or somethign like that.

I remember when spurrier brought the team to Carlisle he just complained the whole time about there not being any good golf courses around here.

Im definitely going sunday, got VIP passes! Not real sure what they entail or what perks that gets but Im in!

We got to park in the players' lot, like 3 cars from Portis. Also, at the time (not sure how it's set up now) we got to watch from a roped off area to the side. After practice, if the players didn't feel like walking down the path that runs along where the majority of the fans were they could walk around our area so we had a better shot at getting autographs.
Like I said, this was a while back, but it should still be cool.

I dont get the pass until I get there so I guess I dont get to park the minivan anywhere near the players cars. Im taking my 3 year old daughter who will be wearing a jersey and tutu....

Hi I just joined this site for my husband cause I am surprsing him and got a pass for this Sunday! We have never been and I was wondering some tips on what I can bring and what we should do! I was going to create my own post but I have to have 25 pts. (weak) to do so.......

I was thinking cooler & chairs but not sure if like that?

Also any tips on autographs would be helpful! Help me be a "cool" wife this weekend!!!!

^ You come on the board for the first time and want adivce but call the rules weak, nice.

Ok with that said definitly leave late to get there traffic is a breeze. Bring a sweat shirt or sweater Ashburn is cold this time of the year.

If you want autograhs either flash your boobs or yell "me me me me, over here" like a million times definitly gets the players motovied to sign for you.

Yeah I'm going tomorrow as well. I was planning on going anyways but now that I got the Red Cross VIP passes I plan on making the most of them. I donated blood today and they were handin out the Red Cross passes like hotcakes so I grabbed a couple. I usually try to make it to TC at least once every season and I'd rather go during a weekday but because of my new job I gotta do it on the weekend. I might do fan appreciation day too if I feel like putting up with the massive hassle of having 25,000 other fans everywhere lolol.

I'll actually give you some real advice for going to camp. It's going to be HOT. Bring some water and be prepared to be in the glaring sun for a few hours. White devils like me need about 3 bottles of sunscreen.

As far as a cooler or chairs -- I wouldn't waste your time. Training camp isn't exactly a relaxed atmosphere. Unless it's a small portable cooler, it probably won't be worth your time. Personally, I like to just bring a bottle or two of water and that's it. There's really no where to 'sit' that you'll be able to see anything -- unless you get there REALLY early.

From what I can tell, you can choose a good view of practice, or a good spot on the autograph line if you get there early. When you first come onto the field, stay a bit to the left if autographs are important to you. That's where the players pass by to enter/exit the facility for practice. If you stand there, you're sure to get some action from whatever players feel like signing things. If watching practice is more important, stay more straight or to the right.

You can still get autographs to the right, and you can still see practice from the left. However, each has its advantages.

44Deezel, just go to the skins site and print out an invitation. I don't believe they are necessary, but I do it every year to be safe. It's free and only take a moment, so worth the peace of mind.

Those of you going on Sunday, expect a big crowd. Weekends are somewhat brutal. Get there early.

Sunday was awesome! It rained some early but once that ended it was really nice. So glad the weather held up. I have 68 pics but it would be painful to upload all of them 1 by 1.

How fortunate for you, that was awesome! But what was really awesome, is that I can see myself in your video at the 1:44 mark. LMAO! I'm in the background, in the white t-shirt just to the right of the dude in blue (middle of screen). I have to say, there is one guy that is there EVERY YEAR, yelling the entire time... calling out player stats, telling them what they are doing wrong, etc. I can only imagine the player are so tired of him being there day after day after day; I know my sons and I certainly are!

This was the 8th year in a row I have taken my 3 sons to camp.

As we do every year, we walked away with, not only great memories, but a few more autographed memoriabilia to add to our individual collections. My personal tradition is to every year buy a new hat at the shop, get it signed, and in turn I will wear that hat for the season. This year I managed to get (from left to right) Coach Zorn, McIntosh, and Campbell. I love it!
