Samuels high on Orakpo
Samuels and Fletcher like what they see from O-SAK-PO . Portis " I have 5 more good years " . Eagles LB Bradley might miss 2009 .... http://www.hogshaven.com/

Re: Samuals high on Orakpo
So far so good for Orakpo. I wonder though if that's as much about Orakpo's abilities as it is the O-Line's struggles. Still, I think Orakpo is going to be a great addition
And it's Samuels man...Samuels. |
Re: Samuels high on Orakpo
Sounds like the d-line is just nasty. Typically the OL just needs some time to get up to speed this time of year.
|
Re: Samuels high on Orakpo
one of the notes said that Blache also will line up Haynesworth at DE for a few snaps.
I am so looking forward to the season. Even Preseason to see the new D players. |
Re: Samuels high on Orakpo
I know it's early for this rook and all that good stuff, yea never played a down. But, I think this kids college career is going to carry over to the pro's. I think he is going to be an animal, right away and for many years to come!
This kid is gonna be fun to watch. |
Re: Samuels high on Orakpo
When Samuels compliments someone the way he did Orakpo, that's big.
On a note related to that story, Stewart Bradley, Eagles MLB, tore his ACL and is gone for the year. The Iggles defense might have less bite this year. |
Re: Samuels high on Orakpo
Sounds like Orakpo is doing real well. And it seems like we'll finally have that monsterous D-Line to help generate sacks and turnovers thanks to Orakpo and Haynesworth.
I'm anxieously awaiting this season to begin. It'll probably be one of those season again where we have to rely on the defense to win games. It's sad to hear about the Eagles MLB Bradley. Very unfortunate for them but not for us! GO SKINS!! |

Yeah the Oline is at a major disadvantage at this point of camp for a number of reasons. One major reason is that you don't run very many full contact smashmouth running plays at this early point in camp. It's not like we are running a lots of series that include seven running plays and just three pass attempts. We are a better run blocking line and if you don't have the opportunity to inflict damage in the running game the dline hasn't had to pay any kind of price and therefore they can just pin their ears back and attack. Things will balance whenever we start running it down their throats. Hopefully. |

I take it O Linemen are concentrating on footwork early in camp , as pass rushing is getting off the ball quickly . I also saw a few clips < CSN ? > of Jarmon getting some strong pass rushes , and hear C. Wilson has looked very good . I hope we can run the ball down our oppt's throat this year and wear them down and beat them up . I do expect Samuels to have a great year . |
Re: Samuels high on Orakpo
Orakpo seems like he has it all. The guy is really athletic and seems motivated, intelligent, mature, "settled down" (he's got a fiance), and, best of all, he hates the Cowboys. I'm really looking forward to seeing him play.

I am so looking forward to the season. Even Preseason to see the new D players.
yeah i heard AH doing an interview talking aobut how he liked lining up outside sometimes. do you think blache said/doing this to, in someway, appease a highly paid new addition in AH given how JT said he wasnt used properly here when he left? im real interested to follow how Ah and blache get along. i know blache is an old school stubborn man and as the coach what he says goes but . . . given all the money Ah is getting, blache has to know he cant alienate his star addition too much. just curious on how much dictation AH is going to get to do to his coach. in AH's interviews he talks aobut how he wants to be used in almost eveyrone ive heard which gives me the impression he has an idea of how to maximize his impact . .. .just hope he and blache can see eye to eye during their honeymoon. go skins!! dangit sorry for getting off topic. on topic, heard Orakpo say he is best suited to rushin the qb outside . . this might be another potential case of blache not using, listening to his players strengths nor willing to compromise what role he wants them to do. |
Re: Samuels high on Orakpo
I can't help but get VERY excited about the defense we're going to field. Orakpo looks like he's going to be an animal and that's exactly what we needed on defense.

That is not who he is. Of course JT is going to say he wasn't used right, do you think he would say 'I went there not in football shape, because I was more concerned with footWORK than footBall, with an injury, that I promptly re-injured requiring surgery, all the while wishing I was in Miami, and by the way feeling my age. That would probably have insured this as his last job and given his agent a heart attack. The truth is JT has seen his best days. I love the guy but I don't expect his #'s to go up this year and then whose fault will it be. On another note how much $ do you think these guys need to make before they don't need coaching. If you make less than 10 mil you have to be coached more than 10 mil you tell me what you want to do(that will do wonders for the team concept thing). More interesting is at what $ level do you think these guys begin to start knowing everything, or at least as much as a guy who has been doing this for 35 or 40 years ( a lot more than these kids have been on the planet)and has been one of the most successful defensive coordinaters in the last dozen or so years. Come on! |
Re: Samuels high on Orakpo
I like Samuels, but instead of commenting on Orakpo or Campbell (good or bad comments) he needs to continue to focus on that o-line and continue to have that chip on their shoulders about the unit's performance in the 2nd half of the season.

Re: Samuels high on Orakpo
Cooley said the same thing about Rak-N-Sak. Star in the making.

Maybe he will be the next Lavar Arrington but a better pass rusher. I just hope Orakpo has a much longer career with the Redskins than LA did. |

I suppose, but it is TC and the media are all asking him questions. He is a natural to answer them because we know his level of talent, and he is facing Orakpo on the field. Samuels will be fine, the only question is health, and that will just have to play out on the field. |

Although as I said in a previous thread, with Thomas being held out of practice, the likes of Rinehart get to take more reps and playing time in the preason. |
Re: Samuels high on Orakpo
More Orakpo hype, and I mean that in a good way, the kid sounds beastly:

Does anyone know for sure if Orakpo is going to keep his number or can they change after the final roster is set? |

He was #98 in college so i see no reason he would change it. |

Since Redskins.com is already selling #98 I think it's safe to assume that's his final number, and that was his college # too so why would he change? |
Re: Samuels high on Orakpo
Thanks guys. I just got back from shopping with my GF so my mind's a little screwy right now.

That'll make a mind screwy. :) |
Re: Samuels high on Orakpo
Ya, I saw Orakpo on Sunday, and I have to say that he looks like DeMarcus Ware of a few years ago, and eventually he should be better than DW is now.
He just spun right by Chris Samuels, and was freelancing the whole time on the field. I love what Greg Blache is doing with Orakpo, making him like a huge question mark to the offense, as to if he is going to blitz the QB or play zone coverage. This may be our best pick since Sean Taylor. Defensive Rookie of the Year is definitely what Orakpo will be in contention with when the end of the regular season comes by. My props to Vinny and Dan for getting this guy. |

Samuels is easily the best player on the team. He can say whatever he wants. |

I heard he has been good at guard, but not so good at tackle. I do believe in Orakpo, loved the pick, and have been excited ever since, but other than the WR's I haven't heard anything but praise for any rookie. |
