Funny...sounds more like Portis is dogging on Rogers.

Re: Clinton Portis Loves Marko Mitchell
I heard a report on ESPN about Brandon Marshall of the Broncos, how he plays with the scout team so he can go up against there best CB it makes him better, that's probably whats making MM (Marko Mitchell) better.

Love to see Marshall in a skins uni. He'd instantly make our offense more potent. We need a threat over there. Moss is a threat, but more of the 2nd wr variety. |

Don't forget he'd also help keep our women in line. |

Re: Clinton Portis Loves Marko Mitchell
I'm telling you... I put it out there about a week ago on a thread....
I had been reading all camp how he catches anything near him. He may be raw, (and way to thin!!), but he is TALL, and CATCHES the ball! I think he should make the roster over Hagans & he could be another M. Kelly-type in the end. |
Re: Clinton Portis Loves Marko Mitchell
Let's shoot for hire than Malcom Kelly type ....

Re: Clinton Portis Loves Marko Mitchell
let me re-word it then...
What i mean is, Marko Mitchell I think will be what we drafted Malcolm Kelly to be. I really do think he has the potential to be the Chris Horton of the offense. And yeah... he'll make it over Eloi easily... I think theyy are gonna stick w Randle-El & Cartwright. Even if they didn't, I think Aldridge or Dorsey would make it over Eloi. |
Re: Clinton Portis Loves Marko Mitchell
Marko has huge problem. He is not a factor on coverage or return teams. How do we keep him as the fifth if he doesn't play hardly any special teams?
If he is that good I would want to keep him off the practice squad in case someone grabs him, but I just don't see how they can keep him? Let's see if he really flashes something in the next two games and maybe he makes it impossible for them to cut him. |

Did he? If that's the case Marko is in really good shape. |
Re: Clinton Portis Loves Marko Mitchell
Just my take.....everyone seems enamored with Hackett and Hagens, I'm not. Hackett has spent 5 yrs in the league already and has failed to be a star. He's filled in nicely for teams, and knows the system but is not a major leader or staple of any team which is why he has been let previously. Hagens has 2 yrs in the league and to be honest I see him as another Hackett. His name excapes me, I've never heard of him before. He is 5ft 10inch's so my personal feeling is if we were to be stuck with someone 5-10 I'd rather have Eloi if he can actually catch. Only cause he's reported to have similar speed to Moss but younger which in my book speaks of Moss's future replacement. Possibly.
How sweet it would be to have 4 young WR's (Thomas, Kelly, Mitchell, and Eloi) with a mix of speed and hight to compliment Moss and ARE. |
Re: Clinton Portis Loves Marko Mitchell
I remember this dude when MD. played his team in a bowl game. If I remember correctly he killed MD. But it's one thing to do it in practice. Let's see what he does in a game. Remember Tryon was having a great camp until he had to actually play in a game.

Both sucked at their secondary duties. ARE was ok as a WR but when put to the task of PR failed misserably. Cartwright was consistant at starting us out on the 30 yrd line but put to the task of RB he sucks. Yet no one complains of their one dimensionality. As far as Marko Mitchell taking part in ST duties I had not heard he would not or could not participate. However I have heard Zorn say Hackett has never been used on ST's. He was only used as a WR. Which was an admitted down side but the fact he knew the offense was a plus. I'll admit we need ARE cause we have no bonafied WR other then Moss but can the team get one player with decent skills to do both PR and KR duties and fill in nicely as a RB or WR if needed. |
Re: Clinton Portis Loves Marko Mitchell
I remember being impressed when I looked at the incremental increase in his college numbers over 3 years as a starter, but I figured he would just get caught up in the training camp wash. Now, I'm not so sure. I think he's got a good shot to make the team.
Marko Mitchell might be the anti-Devin Thomas. Shame on you if you get that. |
Re: Clinton Portis Loves Marko Mitchell
Seems like Trent Shelton is a pretty much a non-factor, huh?

Their combine numbers were pretty similar, although I think Colston was a little stronger and faster. He's not as thin as Randy Moss, right? |

I'd love to see this guy get a shot in the regular season and emerge as a credible option. The coaches said he ran good routes in the Ravens game and everyone is saying he's got great hands. He'll put on some weight. You can't teach 6'4" 220LBS, but you can teach him everything else. |

I'm not picking on you Deezel. You are repeating something like the oft-heard phrase "You can't teach speed." But this phrase drives me nuts because it is wrong. You can TEACH speed and you can TEACH someone to be 6'4". But no one can LEARN those things. Just like I can waste my time to TEACH my dog to be an airline pilot, but there is no chance that he will LEARN that. |

You have figured out how to teach someone to be 6'4"? You should hurry up and patent that. OK, 6'4" can't be taught OR learned. Feel better now? |
Re: Clinton Portis Loves Marko Mitchell
Is he 220 lbs??
Holy crap... lol I was thinking he was built like J.J. from "Good Times" the last time I saw him! I doesn't look as filled out as Colston that's for sure... closer to Randy Moss... but maybe it's an optical illusion or I'm just looking at him all wrong! hahaha Regardless, here's his college highlights... Re: Clinton Portis Loves Marko Mitchell
I believe he's officially listed at 218LBS, but who knows for sure.
BTW, is it just me or does Fred Davis' neck and head look way to small for his body? |

I always wanted a Rack. I always thought it would stretch your back out really good and loosen you up but they're so hard to find and take up a lot of space. :)

10:52:11 am QB Chase Daniel connected with WR Marko Mitchell on long TD pass during the 9-on-9. On the play, CB Kevin Barnes bit on a Daniel pump fake to leave Mitchell wide open.
Daniel to Mitchell is the future!! |

If only I had remembered that training camp ended yesterday. |
Re: Clinton Portis Loves Marko Mitchell
His route running must be exceptional with all these praises he is getting. You don't expect that from rookies. But lets be honest here, all this noise is in practice. He'll probably be a practice squad player.
|
Re: Clinton Portis Loves Marko Mitchell
I was trying to decide between Hackett and Mitchell.
Hackett knows the offense and has been decently productive WHEN healthy in the past, but that's the key, he could be seen as injury-prone. Mitchell has size and many more years left without the injury risk. He was a big playmaker in college and is impressing in camp. It appears we got great value for taking him so late in the draft. Since he's so young and has more potential than Hackett, where we know what we'll get, I chose Mitchell. Even after Moss is gone, if our future is Thomas, Kelly and Mitchell, is a great trio who could be producing for many years. |

That would be awesome, but it only depends on their productions and if our FO decides to extend/resign them.. |

I'm going with Trent Shelton in a stunner

Re: Clinton Portis Loves Marko Mitchell
I picked Marko for the poll, seems to me if he goes on the practice squad another team very well may get him. Hackett would probably be available if we ended up needing him in a bind even if we cut him.
Hagans and Eloi have to be dramatic over the next few weeks I imagine to stay on the team. |
