WR Depth Chart
So it seems that Marko Mitchell has parlayed his last few weeks in camp into making a push beyond just making the roster as the 45th man and 5th WR but he's got a chance to elevate on the depth chart.
From CBS Sportsline: The competition for the second WR spot is no longer a two man battle. The emergence of WR Marko Mitchell adds a third receiver to compete with WR Malcolm Kelly and Devin Thomas for the starting job. How high can he make it on the depth chart? Is he the next Marcus Colston or a taller Taylor Jacobs? How about this as a depth chart at WR, Moss, Kelly, Randle-El, Mitchell, Thomas. Or even (at some point) Thomas, Kelly, Moss, Mitchell, Randle-El. All of the sudden we've got a nice size/speed WR corp. |
Re: WR Depth Chart
Wow I didn't expect this.. Well, if it's true then great, I guess.. I think Mitchell needs to bulk up before he becomes a starter tho..
|
Re: WR Depth Chart
Could be the best we've had in awhile if everything goes according to plan. There's plenty of potential there and I'm pretty excited about it myself. Potentially the best 5 we've had in years.
|
Re: WR Depth Chart
I think Mitchell can make it as high as 4th this year. He can get into the rotation on the outside for playing time, but the type of evaluation of his play that would lead to him playing ahead of Kelly/Thomas would happen after the season.
If he gets even equal reps with DT, he's doing well for himself. |
Re: WR Depth Chart
If anything he has shown he can be a big redzone target. regardless ARE is slot bound. Finally
|
Re: WR Depth Chart
Is it too early to start printing the "I'm Mad for Marko" tee shirts?

Right now that would be good enough for me. |

Maybe a little early, but heck, when its time you'll be in on the ground floor. :) Go Lanky Go! |
Re: WR Depth Chart
K what happened to Devin emerging as a starter this year? I know there was a slight injury but where is this dude in preseason games?

I think that's been the problem. Nobody knows. :) |
Re: WR Depth Chart
i think kelly has the inside track at the number two spot personally.

In all reality...I do too. |
Re: WR Depth Chart
Devin Thomas better watch out or he will be watching from the sidelines and if he gets demoted back that far to #5 I promise you he will sulk and his development with this team will be at an end. Not that I care that much because I never thought he was any good.
Happy for him to prove me wrong, but the dude is just too stiff. No fluidity at all. |

Re: WR Depth Chart
Quick trade DT to Denver. lol
|
Re: WR Depth Chart
Well Devin's lack of flash is a big disappointment, despite the low expectations i'm hearing. Supposedly he worked his ass off all off-season. Studying the books, running routes, building chemistry w/ JC. Then the game-clock starts and what, he forgets everything he's been doing?
...i prefer to hold Hixon responsible. When he develops just one WR at the professional level I'll give him the bennie of the doubt... ...still waiting LOL. |
Re: WR Depth Chart
Good. i hope mitchell plays alot....
and yes, hixon sucks IMO. |
Re: WR Depth Chart
I see a problem emerging. The OL has protected well in preseason, the running game has looked pretty good, and now the young WR's are coming on. The problem is: who are Jason Campbell's apologists going to blame now when he doesn't produce?

Head Coach play calling, time in system, coriolis effect etc. :) |

How about waiting until the season gets going before starting the bashing? Seriously, how is that adding anything constructive to this thread? |
Re: WR Depth Chart
Mitchell is a legit talent because he has speed and size to do damage! Thomas may be screwed because I see Kelly being the Number 2 in week1
|

What are you going to say if he does? |
Re: WR Depth Chart
DT could slide right on down to the 4-5 spot if he doesnt get it in gear. Kelly seems to have his injury behind him -hopefully for good- and Mitchell is coming on strong.

FINALLY!!!! lol |

:) That was good. But I have a feeling he'll say, " Well of course he's playing well he has a good line, a good running game and good receivers. The people who don't like him will never give him any credit just like some take up for him no matter what he does. I'm not about to make a bold statement about what he'll do. I think it's yet to be seen. |
Re: WR Depth Chart
My biggest REALISTIC dream...
Marko Mitchell = Poor Man's Randy Moss (Less speed, but height, jump balls, hands = A+) I mean... does he not LOOK like what Randy Moss would look like in a Skins uni here? Even the #84... hahaha |

Hey if the light does come on for this guy and he turns it around i will man up and say i was wrong and that im sorry to the JC faithful. But so far it looks like that would have to be a huge turnaround. After hearing all of the good things that we heard he was doing in camp i expected alot more than what he has shown but so far it seems to be the same ol JC. We will see this week. |

Lanky Livingston.....The Legend! I would love to see more of this! Seriously...hopefully he keeps improving. I love to see guys defy the odds and fight their way to the top. He seems to be a humble guy yet he refused to be pushed around and take s**t from the DB's. Pretty good speed and pretty smart from what I understand. After the Brandon Lloyd crap it would be great to see this guy make it. If Lloyd had his attitude maybe he could actually play the game worth a damn. Ha-ha..that DB didn't stand a chance. |
Re: WR Depth Chart
Im sure he's great but I will reserve judgement until he faces a first unit of another team. Lets see what he does against Springs
This is actually a legal way to score a touchdown in the NFL? Who knew? |
Re: WR Depth Chart
#1. Yes it's pre-season
#2. Yes it's 2nd and 3rd teamers #3. Yes it's pre-season However .. that picture is worth a thousand words seriously, how great does that look .. what a break if he blew up like a Marques Colston .. The Skins' have to get lucky in the draft every now and again .. (see Chris Hornton ) |

Also set for the future to groom DT to take over Moss spot one day. You see how valuable Plaxico was to the Giants when he was playing. Now imagine 2 players with good hands and around the same height. If this works out as planned we will have an awesome receiving core. |
Re: WR Depth Chart
i think mitchell within a year will line up at #2
|
Re: WR Depth Chart
If you remember when they drafted DT he was the better WR but was very raw, he does seem very sulky but i beleive we are good with him and are set for years to come with our WR's Moss, DT, MK, REL & MM. HTTR.
|
Re: WR Depth Chart
At this point I would say Kelly might have the edge over DT for the #2. Thomas needs to show a flash in these last 2 preseason games.
As far as Mitchell, perhaps a great story in the making. Maybe this year's Horton of the offense? |
