Redskins/Giants Opening Day Predictions
So last year I started this same thread. We played the same team on opening day and let's just say I was way way off on my prediction. This year I have to switch my avatar to a Giants helmet for a week if we lose, but I'm not all that worried. Giants are a very quality team. We beat them in New Jersey opening Sunday....

24-23
I agree somewhat. I think we cant shut the down to a score of 24-17 Skins. |
Re: Redskins/Giants Opening Day Predictions
Skins 38
Giants 13 |
Re: Redskins/Giants Opening Day Predictions
I think I have predicted 28-14 before. I believe Eli will throw at least two picks, and that Hall will take one back for the TD. I believe JC will also hook up for a long completion that sets up or scores the first TD.
The only bad part is that the Giants will drive down on their first possession and score, so we will once again be playing from behind(unless we get the ball first and get a score). As we all know this one counts! Check all excuses at the door! |
Re: Redskins/Giants Opening Day Predictions
25 - 14 Skins, them not having Boley, Alford, and possibly not Canty allows portis to run on them most of the day. And a 2nd year receiver gets a TD, either Kelly or Thomas.

Re: Redskins/Giants Opening Day Predictions
Redskins - 24
Giants - 9 I just don't see Eli having the time to throw the football, which makes him check down alot this game, and they wont be able to process any drives. I also see Portis getting 100+ yards agaisnt a struggling injury plagued Giants defense. I think our Defense is going to be the strong point again this year, and I predict Orakpo getting his first career sack in the first game on Sunday. |
Re: Redskins/Giants Opening Day Predictions
Skins - 20
Giants - 17 |
Re: Redskins/Giants Opening Day Predictions
I'm feeling a blah kind of game. Not a lot of offense, some sloppy play, and good defensive football for the most part. I say Skins 20-13, with two TD drives (1 coming off a short field from a turnover), and a few FGs inside of 40 yards.
|
Re: Redskins/Giants Opening Day Predictions
17-14 skins Campbell with 2 touchdowns - one to moss and one to kelly. I dont buy the injury plagued defense argument, giants have one of if not the best D line in the league and Portis will rack up a hard earned 75-80 yards on the ground and 15-20 yards through the air. Eli gets picked off once but gets a touchdown, and that fearsome running attack of the Giants gets a 100-110 yards against the Skins and also scores a touchdown. Suisham justifies his roster spot by kicking a game winner.

Re: Redskins/Giants Opening Day Predictions
Giants 21 skins 17.
I just don't think our offense is up to snuff. That Giants Dline will eat up our Oline. |
Re: Redskins/Giants Opening Day Predictions
Redskins Win 21-20.

Re: Redskins/Giants Opening Day Predictions
I wont make a prediction because I think I would jinx it all to hell but I just want to say I'm damn glad we'll finally see a game that matters.

Re: Redskins/Giants Opening Day Predictions
no burress this year, i think we take this game due to that fact. 21-13. i think portis will struggle to rush the ball but we will do well in the passing game. im thinking something like portis 20 carries 55 yards, campbell 25-35 276 yards 3 TDs 1 INT

I don't buy that weak Giant defensive argument either. And B. Jacobs is a stud! 17-14 Burgandy & Gold if our OL is what the FO says it is. I'll believe it when I see that final score. |
Re: Redskins/Giants Opening Day Predictions
If we play like we did in the second half of last year then...
Skins 10-23 Giants |
Re: Redskins/Giants Opening Day Predictions
G-men 24
Skins 13 |
Re: Redskins/Giants Opening Day Predictions
It's going to be a tough game, we new/more offensive plays if we are going to score a lot of points I think it will be one of the early games before teams get a chance to see film on us. Both teams play each other HARD/TOUGH skins win by 10.
SKINS 31 - giants 21 |
Re: Redskins/Giants Opening Day Predictions
Skins offensive points vs. Giants: over/under 17?
|
Re: Redskins/Giants Opening Day Predictions
i can see our defense almost over whelming the giants O. with NO receivers that scare much of anyone, the skins will have at least 8 men in the box all game long. skins 17-7
|
Re: Redskins/Giants Opening Day Predictions
I just don't see the Giants threat anymore. I am the first to say they will be on top until knocked off their pedistal but looking at their losses in players this yr I'm having a difficult time even buying that. Eli can't rely on the rookie WR's and he had to check down to the TE or RB a lot in preseason.
Skins 27 Giants 17. I think all our weapons Portis, Cooley, Davis, Kelly, and Thomas will all have a great day. I can see Portis, Cooley, and Mitchell with TD's. I think we try to not run up the score but run out the clock so we kick 2 field goals or atleast stall twice, maybe the first drive and somewhere in the 4th. |

Re: Redskins/Giants Opening Day Predictions
i think our defense will surprise. Haynesworth will eat up blockers and free some of our other guys up for a good game

NYG 15 Hold the GMen to FG's and one defensive TD. |

Re: Redskins/Giants Opening Day Predictions
This game will come down between Portis v. Eli. If we can control the ball with Portis getting somewhere 20/87, I think we have a real shot. If we allow Eli to keep this close until the fourth quarter, I think the Giants will win. I don't care who his receivers are.
That being said, if Mr. Portis scores two touchdowns the Redskins win 20-13. |
Re: Redskins/Giants Opening Day Predictions
After watching four pre-season games I have asked myself repeatedly; What is it that makes me thnk the Redskins will defeat the Giants on opening day in their stadium?
Redskins 20 Giants 17 |
Re: Redskins/Giants Opening Day Predictions
I am optimistic that they will win.... but i wouldnt bet $$$ on it.

Re: Redskins/Giants Opening Day Predictions
Skins win 24-13
What I think will happen: Campbell throws for more than 250 yards and a score Kelly goes for 50 plus yards Portis gets over 80 yards with at least 1 score Defense gets at least 3 sacks and at least 1 pick Cooley and Moss catch 5 plus balls each Horton leads the team in tackles What I hope happens: Paynesworth puts an end to Eli's day, but only after he throws 2 INTs Landry gets revenge on Jacobs by knocking his helmet off and his lights out Portis takes one 75 yards to paydirt Campbell connects on an 80 yard bomb to Santata |

Re: Redskins/Giants Opening Day Predictions
Tough one to call. The Giants are better in the trenches but losing Alford hurts. They manhandled us w/out Burress and Osi at Fed Ex last year. Is an out of shape Haynesworth going to make a difference in the first game? I don't think so. I think the offense will score a little more but NY wins a close one 20-17.

Re: Redskins/Giants Opening Day Predictions
Portis in the last 4 games vs. Giants:
-- 83 carries, 292 yards (3.51 avg) and 2 TDs. He hasn't put 100 or more on the Giants since the second game in '07. Campbell in the last 4 games vs. Giants: -- Completed 58% of his passes, 194 YPG, 4 TDs, 2 INTs, sacked 6 times. Not too bad, but we need big games from both of these guys to have a chance. I have a feeling it's going to take a few weeks for our offense to get on track, so I'll say 30-16 Giants. I'd love to be wrong ... But the Giants have had our number recently winning 5 of the last 6. |

O-Line stands up well and JC starts off slowly but warms up by the 2nd quarter. Redskins in a convincing victory |
Re: Redskins/Giants Opening Day Predictions
Yes they have Beemnseven, but it's time to RECTIFY. I think they're going to be surprised by what we do and Eli and his receivers have'nt been looking so hot. Can't wait. A good start to the season would be great.

Weren't the Skins the last team in the league to give up 30 points last year? And it was in the last game of the season, I believe. I may be way off. The D will be better this year. |
