Another Vinny Special: Deangelo Hall
This guy is an absolute disaster. No physicality and got beat on the Giants last drive. Brandon lloyd + Leigh Torrance = Huge waste of money. Cerrato SHOULD be at the end of the line. His radio show alone merits dismissal. Offensive coordinators around the league will be licking their chops when they see how chumpish Hall is. It's exasperating.

Re: Another Vinny Special: Deangelo Hall
Is it football season already?

Re: Another Vinny Special: Deangelo Hall
He did have the late pick that gave us a shot we didn't deserve. Wasn't all bad.
|
Re: Another Vinny Special: Deangelo Hall
Just wait until this same thread topic comes up directed towards Haynesworth...

agreed. |
Re: Another Vinny Special: Deangelo Hall
Yea, and I bet you guys thought JC played lights out.

Re: Another Vinny Special: Deangelo Hall
How do you start a new thread? I'm trying to start one about positives from this game, but I can't figure out how. ARGHHHHH!

And he wonders why he has people talking about him the way they do. After today they talk about him with good reason. |
Re: Another Vinny Special: Deangelo Hall
It wasnt his best day, but the pick was nice at a pivotal time. I was more disappointed with the missed tackles by not only Hall, but Smoot and Landry. Coverage by the secondary was average, but missed tackles just showed lack of focus.
|
Re: Another Vinny Special: Deangelo Hall
You can make the same comments about Hall,Smoot and Campbell...Neither guy is a probowl player, and we need probowlers in a bad way...

What the 1 yard pass that JC threw to Betts for 20 or more so yards. I think thats JC's deep threat now. |
Re: Another Vinny Special: Deangelo Hall
He played ok. The D gave up 16 points. It was the offense. We have recievers. Our Oline played well. Our recievers held on to the ball. Our running game was not there. Our play calling was suspect and Jason Campbell play was suspect. Not real excited about our offense.
|
Re: Another Vinny Special: Deangelo Hall
I do think Hall got beat all day, I don't think he's a disaster. I do think Vinny is the laughing stock of many other NFL teams..

That kind of play gets you cut from Oakland.

Re: Another Vinny Special: Deangelo Hall
The defense allowed one touchdown and two field goals. The offense, kept them on the field the entire first half
|
Re: Another Vinny Special: Deangelo Hall
to me, today's loss was all about play calling. did we throw on first down at all?
|
Re: Another Vinny Special: Deangelo Hall
Does anyone think that maybe our defensive strategy is the problem. You can't blame Hall, Smoot, or whomever for poor coverage when we give them a free 10 yards to start their routes. Notice how Moss was held today to two catches for six yards. Do you think Corey Webster is better then Hall or Rogers? The Giants stop you at the line preventing receivers from getting a good jump. There more physical up front. With as good of a defensive line that we have we shouldn't be giving teams space. Force them to beat us, let's stop playing prevent.
What do you guys think? |
Re: Another Vinny Special: Deangelo Hall
Webster is a lot better that Hall. I personally don't think he's better that Rogers, but you could entertain that argument as well.
The scheme has been a problem since October of last year, but I don't know what Blache could have necessarily done different today. Hall and Smoot will get ragdolled if you have them press anyone. Hall's just a fringe No. 2 corner and Smoot shouldn't be in the league. |
Re: Another Vinny Special: Deangelo Hall
If they keep playing Landry 40 yards behind the line of scrimmage I am going to freak out!
|

No no no no no no no no. Our offense did no such thing. we didn't have like 6 three and outs. Our D couldn't get themselves off the field and constantly killed our field position. The lack of offensive production at no point can alleviate the fact that our D played for crap today. |
The defense allowed one touchdown and two field goals. The offense, kept them on the field the entire first half
Well, now it's obvious that you don't know that the Redskins were in the white jerseys. Our quarterback isn't the white squirrely guy.

Re: Another Vinny Special: Deangelo Hall
Thanks for starting this thread. Hall is the biggest con-man in the NFL he has duped not 1 not 2 but 3 NFL teams into lots of cash. I will give him credit for that and the Redskins FO should have know better not to sign him. They should have kept Springs and gotten another free agent or 2. Case closed, this guy SUCKS!! Never liked him never will.

I couldn't agree more. This was probably the toughest game that we'll see all season. Blache coached scared he's afraid of giving up the big play, that's why we see all the soft coverages...and Zorn is not sure if he has a run first team or a pass first team...he's just not confident.... |
Re: Another Vinny Special: Deangelo Hall
It is not just Hall, although he was not good. The entire secondary should be called out. Often we had people in the right spots but the tackling was terrible. I hope they spend every minute this week in tackling drills.
|
Re: Another Vinny Special: Deangelo Hall
They also specifically avoided Rogers after the first play and managed not to get hurt at all.

Amen, one of my biggest gripes with the Grilliams/Blache regime. You draft safeties in the top 10 and then play them 20 yards from the ball. Idiocy. As for Hall, he did what he excels at, playing off of the man, reacting to the ball in zone/combo coverage, well. That's what allows him to be in position to make plays on the ball like he did today. He struggles in press man, back to the QB stuff, as he did in Oakland. He completely whiffed on the Smith jam in the 4th quarter which is why he got beat. His attempt at a tackle on the Manningham TD was only slightly less pathetic than Smoot's attempt. I'm nowhere close to writing Hall off, he's going to give up plays, but he's going to make them too. |

Let's see Hall in action: Burned a few times in critical plays, could not tackle Manningham, when he intercepted the ball instead of getting out of bounds he tried to hotdog his way to the endzone risking a fumble (luckily he got pushed out of bounds), personal foul on ST play. This guy is going to kill us like he has other teams. Landry also committed a personal foul going after Jacobs, I'm sick of all this "me" first players. |
Re: Another Vinny Special: Deangelo Hall
My main beef with Hall is that he suffers from Deion Sanders syndrome, that is he will not throw his body into a tackle. He's not physical. His coverage is also suspect, but the main problem is his tackling which has the air of "Olay!" about it. To wit: the Manningham TD.
|
Re: Another Vinny Special: Deangelo Hall
^^If Smoot could tackle, Manningham would not even have had a first down, much less a touchdown.

I don't know if you heard it during the game but Aikman and Buck gave Smoot a pass but not Hall. According to them it was inexcusable to not be able to make an easy tackle by Hall. |
Re: Another Vinny Special: Deangelo Hall
Deon Sanders, considered on tof the best corners ever, was known for never making a tackle.

He should have watched D. Green who I consider a hell of a lot better than Deion. |
Re: Another Vinny Special: Deangelo Hall
At least Hall was honest about his shitty performance. When Kelly Johnson interviewed him after the game, he called himself out for poor tackling, bad technique, and penalties. He said he played a lousy game, has some things to work on, and needs to get better.
He's got the skill set for sure. He knows he played like crap today and needs to step up. That doesn't excuse today's cruddy game, but at least he's humble and ready to go fix it this week. The only finger he pointed was at himself. |

I understand that taking responsibility is the first step to improvement, but without some meaningless popularity contest (read: the pro bowl), the guy wouldn't have had this many chances already. He's only 25, and hey, maybe the light goes on next week. But he might not realize if not for his athleticism, he would have been out of the league after last year. |

And you know Carlos is going to want to get paid too! |
Re: Another Vinny Special: Deangelo Hall
Hall was AWFUL...he is so soft in every way. And the score was very decieving. the defense didn't give up a lot of points but they could never get off the field in the first half which gave the offense no chance to get in rythym. this was a total team loss.

Yeah, I heard that. Hall's miss was inexcusable. But so was Smoot's. |

Yeah, they should have given Rogers and extension resigned Springs and still would have had money to sign an OL. But no. |
