Tebow: Is he the Redskins solution?
I do not believe his style will be good in the NFL. Maybe if he changes his style...

Re: Tebow: Is he the Redskins solution?
Does he amount to starting all over again? It's going to be a long road ahead, calling for more years than I have left.

True. But look at Flaco and Ryan. And Possibly now Sanchez this season.. |

Don't see Tebow as this type of guy though. Now you could compare a guy lke Bradford to Flako and Ryan, but not Tebow. |
Re: Tebow: Is he the Redskins solution?
True. But look at Flaco and Ryan. And Possibly now Sanchez this season..
Flacco just had the first 300 yard passing game of his career on Sunday, against Kansas City. He turned the ball over twice. So I'm looking, and I'm just not seeing anything there.

You're overlooking one important factor, J. Flaco, Ryan, and Sanchez do not work in Washington. I guess you haven't tasted the water here yet. |
Re: Tebow: Is he the Redskins solution?
God. Why would we bring a rookie QB in here? Brennan is already here and a work in progress. (Granted, he probably doesn't have what it takes to be a starter) But I swear, I'd rather bring old ass, sell out Favre here before I wanna see the Skins start all over with a rookie QB.
If the Skins ever do anything this boneheaded, please remind me to start rooting for the Ravens. |
Re: Tebow: Is he the Redskins solution?
Tebow has little in common with Flacco, Ryan, and Sanchez in terms of quarterback skills.
Nancy Reagan says, "Just say no to Tebow." |

Sure, Urban Meyer is probably going to be our coach next year anyways.

Look at Matt Stafford, JaMarcus Russell, Vince Young, Matt Leinart, Alex Smith, Kyle Boller, Rex Grossman, David Carr, Joey Harrington, and Patrick Ramsey... All first round picks. I left out Campbell, because I think the jury is still out on him, but a lot of people are ready to replace him, which by that logic would mean Washington is the only team to have two first round busts at quarterback in the last seven seasons. Why bother wasting another first round pick? |

Nancy Reagan says, "Just say no to Tebow."
Well you prefer 5 years of Campbell and Zorn. I know he is the answer in your eyes. Just let him learn how to play he will develope into a good QB ... That's your idea. What are you smoking? We nees a Franchise QB like the elite teams in the NFL and Campbell sorry to tell you buddy if you have not seen it yet is not a good QB. Just ask Denver if Orton is better than Campbell? If Campbell was so good or had potential with the Denver receivers they have they could have taken Campbell... Campbell is a joke... |
Re: Tebow: Is he the Redskins solution?
Ha. I'm a Gator through and through (see my signature), so anything I say will come off as pretty biased. I will say that one Tim Tebow has the intangibles of about a thousand Campbell's.
I'm a Campbell supporter, and I hope he shows this season that he is our solution. If he doesn't however, I would not be opposed to Gruden/Tebow one bit (Gruden has a giant man-crush on him and I bet he'll try to draft him for whatever team he ends up coaching). Let's face it folks, if Campbell flops so do the Skins, and he and Zorn are both gone. We're an aging team at some pretty important positions. If they both go, we'll be in rebuilding mode for sure. It wouldn't be a bad thing IMO to bring in the best college football player of all team to help us. |

What, specifically, are the reasons why Campbell "is not a good QB"? |

Campbell is done the jury has been already out on him. Bring in a new QB ... A Franchise QB. Colt Brennan? please Chase looked better than him ... |

Considering we still have 15 games to go, this thread is pretty pointless.

I think Kipers mock has Tebow going on the second day of the draft. |

Campbell is done the jury has been already out on him. Bring in a new QB ... A Franchise QB. Colt Brennan? please Chase looked better than him ...
What is funny, or ironic, or just plain dumb, is that you complain about a defeatist attitude, and follow it up with: "Campbell is done the jury has been already out on him. " " Colt Brennan? please Chase looked better than him " So, 2 of the 3 qbs that we have been training and kept at the end of preseason are useless according to you, and yet everyone else has the defeatist attitude. Got it. Let me just say, I hate the concept of an ignore list, because on a board such as this, every opinion is usually interesting, valid, and at least hearing, even if you disagree with it. And yet sometimes, I find myself very tempted to use the power of ignore. It is calling to me with this thread. and |

Week 8 or 9, and we're struggling to get wins? Okay, that makes sense. Week 2? Pfft. It's time to put down the pipe. |

I think if they do draft a QB it should be in the 7th round. Vinny has been hot there lately.

Re: Tebow: Is he the Redskins solution?
Why don't they just sign John David Booty from the Vikings practice squad.

Dude the thread and post are not well thought out, to say the very least.
I got out of that jury. [YT]AzusuXSj8Y0[/YT] As far as Tim Tebow goes I can't help but wonder if his NFL equivalent is going to be Big Ben or Late Career Daunte Culpepper. He has a lot of the attributes of Big Ben including a big arm, mobility, and leadership. However that slow release worries me. Still if he ends up graded as a 1st round pick and Campbell ends up having a bad year I would love to draft him and take a shot. |
Re: Tebow: Is he the Redskins solution?
If I am not mistaken, football outsiders a FACT-BASED research organization, has Campbell ranked 5th for all quarterbacks in terms of DVOA - when he has time to throw. In other words, when he is not pressured, the guy is one of the best in league. He doesn't have the instincts of a Rothlisberger when the play breaks down mind you, but Campbell is more than capable of leading a team to a lot of wins.
If we are talking about the draft, I have suggestion...DRAFT AN OFFENSIVE RIGHT TACKLE, followed by a LEFT GUARD in the first two rounds. And then go after whatever young talent is available via Restricted Free Agency next year. We have quarterback who is more than capable, what we lack is an o-line to pass or run behind. Tebow is a carbon copy of Vince Young, who at last check was a mediocre back-up. Simply put, an option quarterback has never successfully transitioned to the NFL. |
Re: Tebow: Is he the Redskins solution?
Tebow will never be be a NFL QB he might be a NFL TE or FB but not a QB. Why do you think he stayed another year no one had him higher than a 5th round draft pick last year. People kill me with that JC isn't the solution but name scrubs like Tebow and claim they will be. If ARE wasn't capable of being a NFL QB why or will Tebow?
|
Re: Tebow: Is he the Redskins solution?
To me if the worst were to happen and JC and Zorny go you basically have no other choice, but to allow the new HC to make the QB decision. No disrespect to Brennan, but what occurred this preseason doesn't bode well for his NFL future. You are going to have The Danny get his NFL coach in Shanny, Cowher, or Billick, and I do not see them really using Brennan for anything other than an emergency backup. Don't drink the Koolaid with Brennan. THe rest of the NFL did not see Brennan worthwhile picking up and we gambled on a potential steal. I don't see the kid ever being a starter, nor Chase Daniel unfortunately, who I thought seemed more poised than Colt. AS for Tebow being NFL caliber? Who knows, but recent history of Univ of Florida QB's in the NFL is not a good one. Do we draft a QB? Yes, if we lose Zorn and/or JC we have no choice. Collins might retire after this season or be put out to stud. The new HC might not deem the Brennan project worthwhile. JC is the only one that I think is going to be on good footing with a new HC. He has the tools and if used properly can kick ass, but that will be for the new HC to decide. If we do decide on a new QB, we don't get the sexy pick, we make our scout team work their asses off. The sexy pick QB's as of late don't seem to really pan out. Look at Brady, Big Ben, and now Flacco and Ryan. Good solid QB's at good solid Div IA programs, but were not the "sexy" picks of their respective classes, but were bigtime winners nonetheless.

Re: Tebow: Is he the Redskins solution?
I love Tebow, and this video isn't very accurate at all...nobody was ever criticizing his accuracy or ability to throw the deep ball with accuracy for that matter...they are just saying his mechanics are too slow. As in, he loads up his whole body to throw a ball and it's pretty obvious. Florida has the WR's to burn everybody so bad they make him look good. but i'm a gator fan, and i'd want him as a skin in a cocaine heartbeat just for his

After that it ends right there. There is no way in hell Tebow can throw the ball like Ben does. And Ben isn't the most gifted NFL passer but he's MILES ahead of Tim Tebow. |

If he gets drafted in the 1st round then I'm going to try and get in the NFL personel business. I'm still amazed that Pat White got drafted in the 2nd round. |
