What position to draft for next season?
i think we need a real fatty alongside griffin. i like salevea' but i want a young gilbert brown or ted washy in there. i would also like a medium sized DE to have a speed rush to the outside yet stable enough to with hold the run.
#1. DE ...we need some outside rush and take less pressure off our back seven #4. DT ...a younger fatter run stuffer to free up griffin for pass and rush D #6. HB ... betts doesnt seem to run like i would like and seems to be inj'd often #7. C ... we need a true center to back up raymer and friedman is not it what do you guys think we should look for... and do we need to keep as much draft picks as possible this offseason? i say we do and dont let this thread seem like im giving up on us... its always something i like to predict and its fun IMO |
1) Defensive Lineman, I agree a good, young DE and DT are needed.
2) Strong Safety - one that is good at both the run and pass. Bowen is a great blitzer, but he is not very good against the pass. 3) Offensive line- Derek Dockery better start to show something or he should be replaced. You only hear his name when he makes a mistake. You never see a camera isolation of him running someone over. He is kind of soft, not real aggresive. 4) Running back - need a big back. Goal line and short yardage back. 5) Kick Returner - it is time to get rid of Chad Morton. He is over paid. 6) Tightend - need an all a round great TE, not just a situational one. |
We'll have plenty of time to discuss this stuff after the season. Why don't we let the rest of the season play out before we start replacing guys?
|
If we're going D-Line I want to see a trade. John Abraham may be a free-agent next year. JET RAID 2k5!

I know for real guys. I have already seen posts about next season, and the draft or whatever and it's only week 6! Talk about giving up already.... |

If Mark Brunell stays in, we're cooked. |
and more than likely he will stay in, but i hope to god that ramsey gets another shot
|
I wish we would have took Rothlesburger this year instead of taylor.

All of a sudden alot of teams are wishing they didn't overlook Rothlisberger, but that's the way the draft goes. I still don't regret getting Taylor, at all. He's going to be a monster very soon. |
A big bruser of a RB that could be a good 1/2 punch with Portis' slashing style.
|
That thunder and lightning theory didnt work so well for the giants
|
DE, absolutely!!! Me being a huge Georgia Bulldogs fan and watching them every week, there is only one man! David Pollack! The man is a beast, and plays every snap at 110% Here are his stats. http://georgiadogs.collegesports.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/pollack_david00.html

like i said, just for fun, and not giving up, im a huge draft jugernaut |
i thought roth was better than manning.. but whatever, he'll be in league forever...
DE, SS, Oline... i want to see PR before judging QBs... we have betts and thrash and simon for returns, no need to draft anyone, we're stacked there... and between sellers/cooley, i don't think you're going to find much better at TE very easily (especially in later rounds... no way a #1 is being used on a TE with more pressing needs)... if we end up with a top 10 then you have to start considering taking the best player regardless of position... for RB (backup)... is his name adrian peterson or something? he's been racking up 200 yard games i think... i watched him in one game and was pretty impressed. |
petersen's only a frosh... needs two more years in college after this. reggie bush will be available in a few years too!!!
|
That Guy:
I believe Adrian Peterson (Oklahoma) is a true freshman and is not eligible for the draft this year. If there is a Sooner expert here who has different info, I yield to that expertise... |
damn, he's a freshman?? holy crap...
you're probably right curmudgeon, i'm not a huge college fan, i just watch it if its on... |
Is there a Draft in here?

Agreed! It is way too early to be talking about the future! |
we should somehow try to lure evlis grbac out of retirement with a package of high draft picks, say a 1 and a 2.

This probably isn't gonna be a popular opinion but I wish we had traded ramsey when we could have and used the 1st round pick pittsburgh was offering on big ben. but as far as looking at next years draft, I know I personally am not ready to give up on this season. That being said we need either a good young de or dt, a ss, and or a solid back up running back who is more of a powerback. I am still high on Chris Canty of UVA who will slip a bit in the draft because of his injury and would be worth taking and possibly around in either the later part of the second or 4th rounds. plus it wouldn't hurt to draft another center and/or guard. |
anyone know what year reggie bush of USC is in? cuz that guy is a constant playmaker.
|
skinsfan... i'm glad someone recognizes bush. he's a sophomore, so he's here at SC for at least another year. I'm sure he's going to leave after his third year. Our O-coordinator visited Martz over the summer to discuss how the Rams found ways to get the ball more to Faulk- as you've seen this year, Chow has gotten Bush the ball in a number of ways.
I know it's tough to talk about future drafts (and hopefully in two years we're not so bad that we're picking high), but if bush is there when we select we take him regardless of need. He's not just a normal running back- he can split wide and burn most secondaries as well. |
It's too early but what the hell:
BIG NEED Defensive End Defensive Tackle Center Strong Safety Tight End NO NEED Wideout Running Back Linebacker Cornerback I'm a guy who strongly believes in getting whoever is the "best" for the pick, (almost) irrespective of the position. If all the players were equal in talent, ability, drive, etc. I'd like to see the following order: 1. Defensive End or Tackle 2. None - Traded to New Orleans 3. Center 4. Strong Safety 5. Tight End 6. Developmental 7. Developmental Free Agency A Defensive Tackle or End |
i'd be looking for a guard too... but i'll go ahead and watch the chicago game for how dockery is doing to make sure...
i don't think raymer has looked that bad, unlike LF. |
The way things are going and if Gibbs does not turn things around we might end up in the top 5. I would not be opposed to drafting Mike Williams. Gives us trade flexibility with giving up Jacobs, Gardner or even Coles. This guy would be to good to pass on. Also a quarterback as Brunnel is not looking hot
|
Sorry guys, but I can't believe this thread is still going. Can we just concentrate on winning some games this season before we pack it up and get ready for next April?

I totally agree. We'll have plenty of time for this after the season, but if this is your thing carry on. |
many people arent reading what i posted, ITS NOT GIVING UP ON THE SEASON!! its simply playing a game we love, predicting the draft is a fun game to play all year around for me especially. so chill the F out :)
|
since we are gonna have a really high pick, lets trade it and get more picks!
|
Here's my choice:
1st round: Punter - Tupa can't last forever. 2nd round: traded 3rd round: Punter - much needed depth 4th round: Punter - can we say training camp battle? 5th round: Punter - let them winnow themselves out - survival of the fittest. 6th round: Kicker - unless a good punter is still on the board. 7th round: Punter - I don't want a Punter controversy entering the regular season, but we can't take chances. Unless an obvious pick-for-punter trade is on the board that would be a significant upgrade, I'd stay with the youth punter movement. |
lol... maybe kimrin is good for it? that way we wont need to jump hoops when hall gets hurt...
|
some of you said te, i like cooley and think we should run with him. I would draft a dlinemen,.
