Russ Grimm our next coach?
I think this could be a great move. He isn't gonna take any bs and he's direct lineage to our past years of glory. Thoughts?
|
Re: Russ Grimm our next coach?
I would consider it, why not give him a chance.
|
Re: Russ Grimm our next coach?
This is being discussed in at least three other threads.
|
Re: Russ Grimm our next coach?
Vinny has to be fired first. I like the idea of Russ Grimm. I think he is smart enough to steer clear of the organization, just like everyone else.

I enjoy the old days like the rest of them but we're not going to magically recapture the days of yore. That's part of the frustration of our modern day problems. People just won't the past go. Let it go already...this is a modern game we play in. |
Re: Russ Grimm our next coach?
If he's smart.....no. I keep hearing this name and wonder why someone who has been in charge of the O-line in Pitt. and is now in charge of the O-line/Running game coordinator would make a good HC or even an OC? Basically he's most likely a genius when it comes to the O-line, but can someone tell me how that relates to being a HC or OC or are we to expect the same results from him since he's never been an OC or HC?
Not trying to be a Debbie Downer just wondering why his name comes up? I just don't want to be in the same position we are now with someone who took to big of a jump. |
Re: Russ Grimm our next coach?
There are better candidates out there.

By the way...the title of this thread needs to be changed because it's misleading. It should be more of a personally posed question than an ambiguous statement.

But it has a question mark |
Re: Russ Grimm our next coach?
But it has a question mark
Yeah...it sounds like a rumor as opposed to a posed question. It needs a "Do you want Grimm as our next coach"? Then I wouldn't have clicked on it because I thought there was a link to some rumormill about Grimm coming to the Skins. I wouldn't even entertain a question about Grimm becoming our next head coach. |
Re: Russ Grimm our next coach?
No thanks. Other than him being a former great player and assistant coach, what's the big draw for Grimm? What has he done coaching-wise that leads folks to believe he's the next great hire? If anything he's a fatter Zorn. Mid 50's, only been a position coach, never called plays anywhere. Pass.

no andy reid was a fatter jim zorn |
Re: Russ Grimm our next coach?
To be honest I really don't want to think about another coach until the "little man" get's his act together. If Zorn last until the end of the season that's more time he has to come to his senses. The booing Sunday coupled with some of the fans displays is making him take notice. Russ Grimm is a good man, but this is not the place for him under the current structure.

Oh yeah, now I see. Don't know why I didn't see it before. Oh well. Maybe some other time. |
Re: Russ Grimm our next coach?
Let our new GM Chris Polian choose his coach.
|
Re: Russ Grimm our next coach?
Some people are good at what they do
Zorn was supposedly a good QB coach for quite awhile Grimm has .. well I don't know, because neither Pittsburgh or Arizona have been known for their O-Lines with him there I don't know what people know that I don't that makes us believe that he'd be a good OC or HC.. I haven't seen a single argument yet other than him being tough and won't take any shit, so why wouldn't we want Gruden? You don't hire an O-Line coach as the HC to improve your O-Line, just as you shouldn't hire a QB coach as the HC to improve your QB |

Just trying to help. Guess it's not needed. |
Re: Russ Grimm our next coach?
Russ Grimm could work here...if he gets the same support staff (proven successful Front Office Exec, proven successful playcaller) surrounding him, much the same way Miami has done for Tony Sparano. But otherwise, why give up a guy with no playcalling experience just for another guy with no playcalling experience?

Re: Russ Grimm our next coach?
Let our NEW GM pick the coach.........
|
Re: Russ Grimm our next coach?
AND.......what's our biggest positional need on the team?
|
Re: Russ Grimm our next coach?
As with all "who should coach" arguments, one needs to ask who the GM(-ish) person is.
|
Re: Russ Grimm our next coach?
and tryfuhl he would not just improve our OL, hes not a puss like Zorn. Hes gonna make the Redskins play to their fullest potential
|
Re: Russ Grimm our next coach?
The question is not who we want, but rather who would be willing to take the job at this point? We are at a level with the Raiders right now in terms how we are viewed organizationally by the rest of the league. We are a joke. A laughingstock. An object of ridicule and derision. A disgrace. An embarrasment. A scandal. A disaster. I don't think Grimm would work for Snyder. That is how low we have sunk. The Bidwell family are better employers than the Redskins.
Remember we probably don't hear about the people they have contacted or made overtures to who said, "Are you kidding..." and then just hung up the phone. |

Re: Russ Grimm our next coach?
Russ Grimm has been mentioned how many seasons for a HC position and he hasn't been hired? Damn man, we had Gibbs and Bugel together again and they couldn't right the ship. I was 21 when we won our last title and I am pushing 40 now. THe old days were fun, but they are history. Bringing in old Skins just to bring back a speck of the glory days isn't going to bring us a winner.

Offensive linemen, but you don't have a HC work with the linemen much. Bring him in here maybe for the new O line coach, but no way should he have a headset on come game day. And to be honest, we have multiple positional needs. You can take your pick: QB, WR, T,G,T,C,S,CB and maybe a LB. |

Add a CB and RB to the list. |

I added the CB. THe LB would be for depth purposes. |

Question for you Duetsch. Did Gibbs have the guys play to their full potential at the end? I don't think so, so why do you think Grimm will? |

Please find me any sort of evidence of this what about his lines in Pitt and Arizona? |

Anybody hear anything about Kevin Barnes?

Good call......I have more faith in a child molester playing Santa Claus than I do in Snyderrato picking coaches. |
Anybody hear anything about Kevin Barnes?
He is hanging out with Devin Thomas, Fred Davis, Malcolm Kelly, Chad Rinehart, Durant Brooks, Cody Glen, Robert Henson and all the other guys Cerratto has drafted the last two years that have not panned out. |
Re: Russ Grimm our next coach?
Jon Gruden guys, that's my hope..
|
Re: Russ Grimm our next coach?
Russ, take a cue from the rest of your former teammates, steer clear of Snyder. Don't even return his call.

I agree 100%. But that would be in an alternate reality. It would make perfect sense which doesn't really factor in with the Redskins organization in the last 10 years. Our new OC is some dude that's been outta football 5 years? And was a bingo caller? COMEON MAN! |

Re: Russ Grimm our next coach?
Not if Grimm is sane. No competent coach should touch this tar baby until Danny Snyder is gone.
