Officers just killed a guy in the house right across the street
Tenant of the lady living there (along with her 9 year old) apparently assaulted the woman and she called the cops, told them he had a shotgun, etc. Roomie's uncle was coming home about the time and said he saw the lady and the kid heading to the car.
Well the cops went to the basement stairs and told him to put the gun down, he raised it up and a cop shot him 3 times. Roomie's uncle was like oh snap because he heard shots (I was down in the basement at this point) so I went back upstairs, a bit later they brought him out on a stretcher, not even covered up.. couldn't see the wounds though. Was pronounced dead at hospital. Will link it up once I see it online. This isn't the first time that this has happened around where I lived. Back in 2003 I was home when police and ambulances responded a couple of houses across the street that I was perpendicular to, that I could see easily from my front yard, to a much more tragic event in a rural area of NoVA. Here's a recap: washingtonpost.com: Prince William Father Fatally Shoots Three Sons and Himself |

I never have a gun out unless I plan on using it. I might be wrong. This is only my opinion but, you don't point a gun at a cop and expect to live long. The cops shoot to kill.

Some people actually use this as a form of suicide. "Suicide by Cop". |

Yeah, there are also a lot of dumb-asses that think they can do what ever they feel and nothing will happen. |

You're not used to this yet? Seriously, stay safe man. edit: just read the article...so tragic. It angers me so much when these cowards kill their children before themselves. |

I hate traffic accidents. They're the worst. I saw a lady get her head turned all the way around and her leg ripped off. |

It was probably 20 years ago and an 18 wheeler was getting off on the wrong exit and he pulled back on to the int. to see trafic had stopped. As he slammed on breaks the truck jack-knifed and flipped over landing on the one car and slamming into 7 or 8 more. I was the first one to the car and even though she was pretty much smashed into the steering wheel I reach in and check for a pulse and to make sure no one else was in the car. Another guy ran up and before I could warn him not to look he did. I can still remember starring at the guy and what he looked like. I ran over to another car and that person was in bad shape but there where like 5 to 6 people trying to help him. The same was true for the next 3 or 4 cars I went to. I can remember looking around and hearing people screaming in pain and all the others running around. I figured there was nothing I could do to help and I put my car in 4x4 went down the median and around all the wrecked cars. This was like 5:00pm and the road was still closed when the 11:00 news came on. I actually cannot believe I wrote this much but I can rember it like it was yesterday and could have typed three pages in detail of everything 20 years latter. |

I don't see how you could ever forget something like that...or how you could ever get those images out of your head. I think I would have nightmares about something like that for the rest of my life. WOW...At least you were there to help. |

Somethings you just can't unsee, sadly. My uncle was a firefighter in RI and saw a lot of this and also young children in situations like this. We as a family to this day belive that is the main reason he commited suicide, he just could not shake the images. |
Re: Officers just killed a guy in the house right across the street v.again for me

Never had any nightmares but images still pop up when I see an accident and they are as clear as they where 20 years ago. When I see a movie and people are running around screaming its like I flash back to that day and those images take the place of the movie. |

Re: Officers just killed a guy in the house right across the street v.again for me
I was on drill one weekend in 2004, and literally right across the street from the base a guy got shot at the Sheetz. It was like 10:25 at night, and i heard the shots...pop pop pop. I called the police from the base radio.....crazy night

I've never seen anything like that before & don't want to. Can't imagine! |
Re: Officers just killed a guy in the house right across the street v.again for me
I didn't actually see the shooting. but i was on firewatch, and i heard the shots. The sheetz was in crepastown md, in a very, very bad part of town. Even being at the base i never felt secure because i didnt know if some crackhead protester would drive by and empty a clip.....

Re: Officers just killed a guy in the house right across the street v.again for me
Nowhere is safe anymore unfortunately.
I frequent a bar the Eastern Market area of DC and I forced myself to stop taking the metro because even though the bar is probably less than 2 blocks away from the Metro station I feel EXTREMELY unsafe walking around there when I'm leaving the bar at 2am. So now I just drink less and drive myself home. |
