Seattle Waives Edgerrin James

Just thought this was newsworthy. I'm sure some moron will say "why should we pick up other people's trash" or something along the lines.

Make him our 6th RB? Oh wait, we released two of them. LOL.

Re: Seattle Waives Edgerrin James

I'm all for any player being brought in who could provide something. James is better than Portis in alot of aspects, but right now i'm not sure how effective anybody would be on this team. Plus he is already 31 years old, so he is 2 years older than portis, but with maybe less mileage. I dont know his injury history either. They definatley need to upgrade at the runningback position, but i don't think James is the answer..

Re: Seattle Waives Edgerrin James

According to PFR, players from "the U" have scored touchdowns in 115 consecutive weeks, dating back to a Jeremy Shockey TD near the end of the 2002 season.

That means, if we signed James to pair with Portis, we'd have to score more TDs, and wouldn't at all be part of the reason that the streak broke.

On a related note, I'm writing an article on why the Redskins running game is close to being productive.

Wonder who picks him up.

Vinny will be on it along with getting Chris Chambers in here.

I understand about folks talking about others trash...but c'mon....RB, WR, Oline, LB depth is a serious issue....I'd be willing to give a pass if we grabbed a guy like this for a 3rd string role

It is unnecessary to anxiously look up the skirt of every veteran....road whore to determine that it is to late in the game for any of....that.

NEVERMIND...all we need is another sub 3 yard RB:

James failed to provide the punch Seattle hoped for when it cut T.J. Duckett (FSY) to make room for James. He gained just 125 yards on 46 carries with no scores. He averaged just 2.7 yards per carry.

James had a season-high 16 carries for 46 yards in Seattle's 41-0 win over Jacksonville, but James got double-digit carries in only one other game. Three times he was held to less than 10 yards rushing.

James is better than Betts IMO

Re: Seattle Waives Edgerrin James

Until we can take a young stud to phase in as Portis phases out, and seeing as most teams hav atleast two viable runningbacks, why not give Edge a chance it can't hurt. It's better than Betts coming in the game and that is for sure. We gave Mr. Softee a chance.

Re: Seattle Waives Edgerrin James

Besides with the way things are going making a move here makes since. Betts is not doing anything. Rock needs more carries and that new dude (runningback acquisition) needs to touch the field. Zorn can never get people on the field. We don't really know what we have roster-wise (offense). Mitchell could be a star for one. How do I know Hakeem Nicks is one fo the best WRs in the league? Seeing him make them catches on Sunday.

Those who salivate at the name of every well-known veteran that is released can be compared to Snyder and all the high-price free agents that have been signed during the Snyder era.

The difference is Snyder is in a position do to it.

If a new GM and/or new coach are indeed in the future for this team, then if they are doing things right, they will let the new regime evaluate the talent.

Unfortunately the whole point of this thread was to mention what I thought was a newsworthy item, and not at all suggest that we should pick up this guy.

That being said, I would hardly call Edge a "high-price free agent".

Anyone that wants to blow up the roster everytime a draft pick or two don't turn out to be good can be compared to Snyder as well.

What are you talking about? There are not 32 back in the league that are better than Edge :yeahright

But.....clearly he's better then them and came from Seattle so he knows the scheme......and.....and....and....

As Nike said....."Just say No!"

Edge is done. Betts is better. Period the end.

We need linemen -- not more RBs. I can't believe you guys want to pick him up. Remember Shaun Alexander? TJ Duckett? Sheesh, some people never learn.
