Chiefs Release L. Johnson
With L. Johnson and Edge being available, I don't see any team trading with us for Portis (not that it was realistic, but still). I wonder if the Browns will pick up L. Johnson.

Re: Chiefs Release L. Johnson
The guy is a cancer, he might as well retire.
|
Re: Chiefs Release L. Johnson
WOW they got a lot of money tied up in him to release him don't they
|
Re: Chiefs Release L. Johnson
Larry Johnson = Shaun Alexander
Clinton Portis = Shaun Alexander Johnson and Portis have the old running back syndrome aka the Shaun Alexander complex. The use to be premier running backs but cease to run hard. They choose to fall down on contact or perceived contact or run out of bounds. |
Re: Chiefs Release L. Johnson
Good move for KC. F him, dont want to see that cancer near Fed Ex. In a locker room that is already weak with leadership, adding him would be a huge mistake.
|
Re: Chiefs Release L. Johnson
LJ won't be on the market on long. He's still good.

Can you tell me what part of my initial post said anything about him coming to Fed Ex? |

Re: Chiefs Release L. Johnson
He'll probably clear waivers first because he's owed $2.1 million in base and I think like $500k in bonuses, so no one's going to sign him right away.

Re: Chiefs Release L. Johnson
Not too surprised. He only has himself to blame with his attitude problems. But that tweet he sent out was funny. Not the making fun of gays, but what he said about Haley. I never knew the guy NEVER play any football in his entire life. That's pretty pathetic that he's got an NFL job and never ever played any football on any level.

Re: Chiefs Release L. Johnson
Not that I'm excusing or justifying Johnson, but I believe he did want out of KC when the new regime took over in KC. I still don't know why teams are bent on keeping players that don't want to play for their team. I think a 7th rounder for him would have been better than whatever cap hit they are going to take with this cut.
|
Re: Chiefs Release L. Johnson
funny he gets cut when he is within like 30 yards of being the chiefs all time leading rusher. its close to retirement time for L.J. good back in his prime
|
Re: Chiefs Release L. Johnson
I could maybe--maybe-- see someone like, hate to say it, Pats or the Colts picking up LJ.
The only reason I'm relunctant to say the Colts is because they're undefeated and they aren't looking for any drama, but he would be a good addition to help pound the ball once they get deep into the playoffs. The Pats just because it's their M.O. |

I agree. A smarter move by the Chiefs would have been to get whatever they could for him last spring. Hindsight... |
Re: Chiefs Release L. Johnson
I hope the vikins pick him up imagine pederson and lj and farve oh my

Actually I take my comment back because I just saw on ESPN rumors that they have the Skins as a possible interested team. |
Re: Chiefs Release L. Johnson
Like him or not, IMO he is far better than what we have on the roster now. take a chance and see what happens,1 yr contract ala Cedric Benson. if we could be so lucky.
|
Re: Chiefs Release L. Johnson
^Not me, I think if you really are serious about rebuilding why start with a guy like this. He has had character issues for awhile. Bringing LJ here is not going to turn around this team with the speed we would all like. Its going to take a handful of players on offense, and with LJ's attitude, it is really not worth it. Id pass without thinking twice.

We already suck! What could it hurt? Team cohesion? |
Re: Chiefs Release L. Johnson
He's too high risk even for the Skins. I wouldn't be surprised if nobody picks him up this year.

Deuce isn't playing...I can't see why anyone would pick up LJ. |
Re: Chiefs Release L. Johnson
Vet Min Baby!
only kidding. |
Re: Chiefs Release L. Johnson
I'm for veteran minimum plus incentives. He is the same age as Portis, but he doesnt have the wear and tear, or injury problems. His attitude might be bad, but so is Portis' at this point.
Anyone who can help this team should get a chance... |
Really? Clinton Portis = Shaun Alexander? You don't know what the hell you're talking about.
He kinda does and kinda does not know what he's talking about..... Alexander (TTB) is, in my oppinion, more like Cartwright in the sense that both will dance in the back field waiting for a hole that a mack truck could drive through opens up then they try to hit the hole. Otherwise they run more East/West and losing yrds here and there doing so. but...lately Portis has been doing the same thing. Not sure if this has anything to do with him losing weight over the summer to try and become a speedier/shiftier RB or what. Portis used to be a hard hitting run over you type of RB but since last yr and into this yr he seems to get stopped at the goal line, not hitting the holes or getting washed up in them, and slower. I hate to say it cause I'm not a fan favorite of Betts or Cartwright but when both were put in the game together they seemed to get more yrds vs. Portis and Sellers. |
Re: Chiefs Release L. Johnson
No thanks. He'll end up somewhere though, he's got a little bit left.
|
Re: Chiefs Release L. Johnson
Dang. Now we can't trade our first round pick to KC for him.

according to a thread on "that other redskins forum"106.7 is reporting that the skins are interested. |
