Pathetic!
I'm not liking this....not one bit. Brunell is done...he has no rhythm or timing with receivers and he is getting the receivers killed out there...better make the switch while we have the bye week. The Redskins are obviously broke. Gibbs better be having the offense working during the bye week. No reset for them till the balls are zipping and on the spot to the receivers. We couldn't dominate the 27th ranked defense in the league for fuck sake. That's just pathetic.
|
Saden1, when I'm agreeing with you it's a dark day indeed. I'm agreeing with you.
Brunell bring absolutely nothing, I'm sure he's a nice guy but he's holding the whole team back. |
ouch doggie, maybe brunnel will realize he sucks and fake injury.

Well I'm sad to report after hearing the press conference after the game, Gibbs did'nt seem to find anything wrong with Brunell.. I hope he breaks down the film and realizes that this guys cannot throw deep and most NFL secondary right now DON'T RESPECT our passing game. Today we had protection, and a good running game and we were playing the Bears who's secondary is not great and BRUNELL CAN'T EVEN COMPLETE HALF of his passes!! Gibbs need to rethink 'cause if our offense keeps on giving opposing teams so many chances and defense on the field for that long WE R GONNA LOSE.. C'MONS GIBBS MAKE THE CHANGE!!! |
Once again Snyder fucked up the QB situation. He did it before by bringing in Jeff George, and he did it again by bring in Brunell. Dan sure is the man.
|
Brunell is Gibbs guy, let's lay off Snyder
|
We need a time machine to go back to the draft and get Rothlisburger
|
I'll stick with Taylor over Roethisberger
|
I have to question Gibbs on this one.. It's obvious to everyone but him that Brunell isn't the answer. 13 points against the Bears when Portis gained 171? C'mon, I understand loyalty, but this is 2 games under 100 yards passing and less than 50% completion percentage. At least Ramsey will be able to do better than that.
|
Bozzy - This Brunell deal is ALL Gibbs. I've actually heard that Snyder didn't want to write that check, but Gibbs is Jesus isn't he?
This game was absolutely pathetic and nothing to get excited for except for Smoot, Washington, Taylor, and Portis (In no particular order). Playcalling was uninspired and boring. It was conservative to a fault. Although there were signs of promise, this offense CAN NOT excel with Mark Brunell at the helm. It's not often, but I was praying for an injury. |
Gibbs must be seeing something in Mark that the rest of us aren't. I think the kid (Ramsey) should start, but its not looking too good for that.

Agreed! Although I missed today's game I saw some highlights, Portis, wow! Heck of a game, I heard a commentater say the skin's changed their running scheme a bit, is that true? I did see the highlight of Brunell throwing the ball out of bound's when he had I believe it was Coles wide open down the sideline for a TD, as well I see he gave up another TD, 28 point's in 5 1/2 games, I wonder if that's some kind of record? I am now becoming very incouraged thinking how good we can be with Ramsey in there? He will make play's, and he will only get better, Brunell has to go, we can't afford to drop 1 more game because of his inability at QB, I heard a post game comment that we absolutly dominated this game, if that's true, then it's an absolute joke that the bear's had an opportunity to tie, or beat us, with their last possesion, especially when Portis ran for over 170yds., no more excuses for Brunell, and how he need's a running game, he had one and failed miserably, our defense bailed him out big time! |
ouch doggie, maybe brunnel will realize he sucks and fake injury.
Maybe sean taylor will realize he sucks and give him one |
We need a time machine to go back to the draft and get Rothlisburger
As long as we have that time machine out we might as well go back a couple years and draft tom brady. or maybe we could just keep stephen davis and not trade the best corner in the league for another back who doesn't fit the system. |

They totaly changed some of the plays they used Portis on and it showed. They need to adapt the system to Portis like they did today and they will be successfull. |
It's not often, but I was praying for an injury.
Who's that guy that smacked Nancy Kerrigan across the leg before the Olympics? We need a guy like that to take care of Brunell. |
I don't care who it is or if people are just joking, wishing an injury on someone isn't cool, especially one of our own players.
|

Sorry, I was just kidding...I would never truly wish any harm to another person. Even if he is the reason we are 2-4. |

Gibbs will alwayus be somewhat conservative, but they put in some different running plays more suited for Portis, and they did take some shots down the field. It was all a matter of execution: Portis did, very well I might add, and Brunell simply did not....again. |
Yeah I don't think the playcalling was a problem at all yesterday. In fact I thought it was much improved and the schemes were as well. We finally saw Portis getting to the outside on pitches, running out of spread formations and the line blocking similar to what Denver does.

I didn't see the game, but it's nice to see them changing on the fly like this and adapt to Portis's skill's. |

Sorry Brunnel is Joe's hand-picked man. How long is his contract? |
You people have to learn paitence. With yesterday's game I noticed that playing calling has improved (because Gibbs is the man when it comes to adjustments!!!) and Portis played much better. I thnk Gibbs realized that having more "Clinton Portis" designed plays in there gave him loads of confidence and looked how it payed off! Clinton was also gaining more yards via the counter gap. If our run game continues to improve, it is going to take loads of pressure off of the passing game and in fact it will open up the passing game more. Teams are going to have to bring up more guys to plug the holes which will get the receivers downfield open! Now, MB getting the ball to those receivers is one thing, BUT the running game is what usually sets up the passing game in Gibbs' system, so we are starting to see that come together. I think we have a pretty decent chance against the Packers...even though the Packers might be slowly getting themselves out of their hole, I feel we can score against their defense! It would be nice to get another win before we play Philly, because we need the confidence.
|
only about 7 years too long...
|
we're going to need 20-30 points to have a shot against the packers... and we can't have the offense and ST give up 10-14 points anymore... that sucks.
|
only about 7 years too long...
THAT is what we can blame on Danny, or "his people" that do the negotiating. It should have been a 4-5 year deal max that is really a 2-3 year deal, but instead it's 7 years for what's really a 4 year deal. Even if he was lighting it up, I don't think anyone expected him to be here (starting) past 2005 at the latest. Yeah, Gibbs really wanted him, but you'd think that Danny and co. would have been able to come up with a better (shorter) deal. Now if he is injured/released within the next couple years, it is money wasted against the cap. |
Playcalling has improved, but at times it was uninspired and boring. I should have clarified a bit more. A new blocking technique and some new run plays for Portis really helped. I just hate the "give up" plays that Gibbs seems to run from time to time on 3rd down. I really think that totally abandonning they abysmal passing game hurts the receivers and QBs morale. I want to see a balanced attack.
|
Brunell simply is NOT getting the job done.
|
yeah what was the play when he just overthrew a wide-open coles? i mean come on... seems to me gibbs is too nice to just take brunell. he must not be ready to wholly blame #8 yet. once we start playing teams that actually have offense and our D doesn't hold up so well, then we'll need a spark on O and i'll expect to see PR in there.
|
Hey don't doubt our D. I believe it's for real!

But if the passing game is struggling, forcing the issue isn't going to help. Trying to pick up a first on a 3rd and really long is a disaster waiting to happen especially when the passing game is struggling. What will hurt their morale more is getting sacked repeatedly or picked off on plays where the smarter thing to do is take what you can get, punt it away and let the defense get it back for you. |
I would like to see us incorporate some of the philosphy the Chargers use with Tomlinson. They'll line him up at wideout and work him against DB's beyond the LB coverage and allow him to take them one on one. When LB's lineup on him, he runs the post and no LB is going to keep up. WHen they change their coverage, you give it to a FB up the gut. I think Portis would make some big yards if he was involved in the pass offense and not just on screens.
|
I think Portis would make some big yards if he was involved in the pass offense and not just on screens.
1st of all if you know a typical Joe Gibbs offense, there is no screens. How many has Portis run this season. 1 against the Bucs, thats it. This offense uses the old flood the zones so the QB has a view of a certain area on the field. Checking from one side then to the other takes time and in alot of cases you would miss the free saftey lurking or a LB who is drifting in the zone. Good evidence this system is working is the lack of interceptions and the ability of Brunnel to throw it into the stands when there is no one open. NEver give up the sack or try to squeze a throw into 2 man or 3 man coverage (ala Jeff George). He has missed the deep ball a few times but you can see it all developing. Great O system and when you have 2 years under the belt, watch out. But you will not see a Running back Screen. |
use denver's line scheme and SD's RB scheme... works for me ;)
