It Is Dallas Week, Isn't It?
Crazy, it's Tuesday afternoon and no Dallas talk? I think we're still basking in the glow of a much needed victory.
On to the Dallas game though. My thoughts on the game for us to come out w/ a win. Chances are slim and it won't be easy, but we should know by now that the best team doesn't always win in this game b/n the rivals. 1. Stopping the pass rush and controlling D Ware. We're gonna be in some trouble if we don't 2. Playcalling. We're going to need some blitz nuetralizing success in the run/pass game. If we don't beat it early, they'll keep coming at us. 3. Runstopping. Where's our run defense been lately? Wherever it's been it better come back to Dallas on Sunday 4. We need you Brian Orakpo. This could be your coming out party on national TV. 5. JC. Hang tough and trust your recievers. Make some plays. 6. Carlos Rogers. We know you have talent. Prove it this week (if you're in there). Nothing new, but it's Dallas week and I'm jacked up for it. |
Re: It Is Dallas Week, Isn't It?
Ah yes, been looking forward to this game for several weeks now. Not simply because it is against the Redskins. But because I will be in a coporate suite at Cowboys Stadium to see this game. I am stoked.
I don't think this is a nationally televised game though simply because of the 1 PM start time. The National Televisied market games are the 4 PM game, SNF, MNF and TNF. I think this one is just regional television coverage. But I believe the next game between these two teams at FedEx is in a national spot. |
Re: It Is Dallas Week, Isn't It?
The Cowboys are one of the biggest posers in the league right now. Roy Williams proves week after week that they gave up way too much to get him. I would say behind T.O., he's probably the most overrated WR in the game right now. If Romo was a basketball player, he'd be Robert Horry. Streaky and known for a few big moments. The game within the game is going to be field position and how we counter their front seven. If they create problems for Campbell out the gate, it's going to be a long day. But if we can jump out to a 10 point lead, our running game could serve us well.
The Redskins can win this game guys. We're going to go to Dallas with a lot of confidence and if the defense can solve the issue they had with Brandon Marshall, I think we can harrass Romo into making a few costly errors. Which he is very capable of doing. I say Skins 20 - Dallas 13. |

I hope that Carter, Orakpo, and Haynesworth pound Romo so hard that he cries out for Jessica.

Old enough to remember Riggo frustrate the hell out of me! Old enough to remember the Thiesman-Lawerence taylor thing. Old enough to remember that my very first football jersey was Dallas Cowboys #22. Not Emmitt, Bob Hayes. (I got a Staubach jersey later that year too.) And old enough to say that my first NFL games I ever saw at a stadium was at Texas Stadium and Tom Landry roamed the sidelines. That old enough? |

I hear they actually call them the Romo box. |

I'm not sure the Skins are good enough to beat them offensively but this is Dallas...I expect them to get up for the game. |

Ditto: Horry was clutch when the game was on the line. Romo is the complete opposite. |

Okay, the Horry analogy was over the top. JJ Redick maybe? |
Re: It Is Dallas Week, Isn't It?
I cant remember a time when I was less excited about Dallas week than I am now. Maybe my mindset will change as Sunday approaches, but right now, it feels like "just another week." Honestly, I look at each passing week as just putting us closer to the end of the season, when we'll get to see what direction the future of this franchise takes. Anyone else feel similarly?

Re: It Is Dallas Week, Isn't It?
Oline is hurting, time for Big Al,carter and Rak to put Romo on his arse.
If the GB defense can get to him then we can. |

Pretty much the same boat. Ill say something to the Dallas fans i know once in a while but right now im just looking for what lies ahead for the team.Usually im all on their back talkin sh about the beating we are going to give them but this week has been pretty tame. |

It would make a victory even sweeter, if we could manage to beat the Cowboys, in Dallas w/ a offensive line full of practice squad and backup players, a backup RB, and a coach who hasn't proven that he knows what he's doing yet. So, I'm holding out hope that somehow if we can get a win, this will compare to Dallas fans holding the 1 win over our head in their dreadful 1-15 season. I still hear that. So, I'm still pumped about it. |

Yeah, a bit of the edge has been taken off. But, still, I hope that we smash the heck out of those ugly uniform low-lifes. |
Re: It Is Dallas Week, Isn't It?
Well its always fun to beat dallas. we always seem to find a way to beat them atleast once a year, even when we're horrible, so i think we have a shot... i just don't feel any of the usual "excitement" leading up into the game.

Lets see Hunter Smith has ran for a TD, passed for a TD, so now its time to hit the jumbo screen to run the last few seconds off the clock for a win.

If the GB defense can get to him then we can.
This. Honestly, I'm excited coming off the Denver win, but I have no idea how the game is going to turn out. Both teams always play each other hard because of the rivalry - I always remember that season where the 'Boys went 2-14, they were absolutely horrible that year, and the only games they won were against us. We've also had s****y seasons, too, where they made the playoffs and we didn't, but we swept 'em or kept it 1-1. So, we'll play for keeps and they'll play for keeps, that much is a given. If we come out playing like we have since the Atlanta game's second half, we have a chance; if we play like we did prior to that second half, we're gonna lose. If THEY come out playing like they did this past weekend, we have an even bigger chance; if they come out playing like they did during their streak, well, we better hope the D shows up - cuz they haven't since Atlanta (I really, really miss ST right now). We need to harass the f**k outta Romo, that's when he loses his cool and starts throwing picks and just generally breaking down. In the end, if the 'Skins play like they have the last game and a half and we lose, I won't be as upset because at least they're PLAYING now. If they win, it will be doubly sweet. It is just a game, afterall. The 'Boys played jacked football against GB. I'm hoping they're shook. |

Fantasy rule number 213: Always start Santana Moss against Dallas, especially if the game is at Dallas.

Well, I wouldn't forgive some of the players for quiting on themselves nor the FO for ignoring the O-line issues that were apparent even last year but I wiill forgive all my Dallas friends for crying their hearts out at us sweeping "Americas Team". HA Come on guys, It's Dallas. No matter what else, these count!!! |

My parents went on a 3 hour bus trip to RFK for that game and there was one Dallas fan on the bus. They gave her a hard time going up and she got smashed at the game. They had to then listen to the one drunk Dallas fan for 3 hours. They kept giving her drinks thinking she would pass out but she only got louder and louder. If I'm correct it was also our last SB win in 1992 and we went 17-2. |
Re: It Is Dallas Week, Isn't It?
The Skins beat Dallas in their stadium ...the last game played between the two in that stadium and won. ;) It would be nice to see us take the first game played between the two in their new stadium. ;)
But looking realistically I just didn't see us taking any more games the remaining part of the season. The Denver game was a shock to me so if they can pull one out with Dallas then awsome. I just don't like the idea of us winning when we need to shit can VC/Zorn. |

i was there as well and i heard a couple we want dallas chants, one was the guy sitting in the row in front of me, i didn't join in, we actually looked pretty good sunday, but i need to see some consistancy, but i do think we have a shot cause we always do with dallas also i just hate the idea of playing dallas w/o cooley, out of all the guys on our team i thknk he gets the rivalry more than anyone else |

and also the Redskins know how to beat the broncos! :P |

ok maybe not completely forgive but yeah...as some of the other guys on this board have mentioned, Dallas games are insulated from the rest of the season because no matter what kind of year each team is having, the games are always competitive and fun to watch, well fun if the Skins win that is

these games are always close ... come on' man ... everyone knows that .. any remember the 91 Cowboys ..:Flush: The skins' haven't looked as good as they did last week in over 16 games .. why not think we can still a win .. drink some kool-aid it's freaking Dallas Week .. :FIREdevil
