 sausage vs. bacon

Which one is the better breakfast meat? Discuss
	 |

 Re: sausage vs. bacon

Turkey sausage. I used to love bacon but as you get older and start thinking about cholesterol and crap like that...although there is turkey bacon I believe...still turkey sausage is where it's at.

 Re: sausage vs. bacon

Scrapple, is better then both of them. Also I rather have ham then bacon or sausage.
But if choosing between the two I would say sausage. |

 Re: sausage vs. bacon

Turkey sausage or even chicken sausage is pretty tasty
Love bacon but you might as well be eating a spoonful of fat, still, it's so worth it |

 Re: sausage vs. bacon

I like both but if I am going to eat it by itself I prefer bacon. If I am going to make a sandwich, then I prefer sausage. Sausage just seems too salty to me to eat by itself. I have to smother it with syrup, hotsauce, gravy, or put it on a sausage egg and cheese sandwich.

 Re: sausage vs. bacon

For Breakfast either one is great but I don't eat either very much now days. As for everyday use everything is better with bacon.

 Re: sausage vs. bacon

Gotta go bacon with a patty sausage a close 2nd.
	 |

 Re: sausage vs. bacon

Now I'm a fan of Sausage links not so much patties. Unless they are about to be on a sandwich. I may have to go with bacon because bacon pretty much gives you the same taste no matter where you go. Sausage on the other hand has it's flaws. Bacon, is always a winner. Ekrich sausage is pretty money too. Cut that and slice it down the middle, that's some good eatin too. But I'm still going with bacon as my final answer.

 Re: sausage vs. bacon

		Hmmm. . . . That's tough. I don't know?
What I like to do is take a sausage, cut it in half, fry it up with onions, and then slide it in between two slides of toast with Sweet Baby Rays and a slice of pepper jack. I do the same thing with bacon. Sometimes I add an egg sunny side up. The sausage is better. So I say Sausage is the winner. I lift weights, drink 2 liters of water a day, and walk a mile every other day. Eating fatty food in the morning doesn't concern me as long as I eat less for lunch, and even less for dinner. My schedule is geared towards disease prevention. |

		Bacon > Sausage
	 |

 Re: sausage vs. bacon

		Neither...Stake.
	 |

 Re: sausage vs. bacon

Sausage>bacon. Bacon is hit and miss for me...it needs to be crispy I think to be good...I hate when i order it out and it comes to the table all under cooked and rubbery. Sausage is generally a more consistent choice.
For those who mentioned turkey sausage. Does it really taste like regular sausage or is it different and you like it anyway? It wasn't part of the question but Taylor Ham(some call it pork roll) is better then bacon or sausage. |

Will you use that stake to stab a cow and get some steaks? |

 Re: sausage vs. bacon

Bacon wrapped links w/patties on the side?

It's a good substitute though and a much healthier choice. |

bacon, and it has to be chewy. and not that crap these fast food places are putting on burgers

 Re: sausage vs. bacon

Bacon by a mile. I agree with what someone said about bacon needing to be crispy. The only time I really eat bacon is when I cook it at home. That way I know I'm getting it the way I want it.
A few weeks ago I got home from work pretty late, and was starving. I got creative and made a peanut butter and bacon sandwich. I mean, are there two foods on this earth better than peanut butter and bacon? Toasted some bread so the PB was all melty, and threw a few strips of crispy bacon on that bad boy. Oh my god. Abso-friggin-lutely delicious. |

 Re: sausage vs. bacon

Tough choice but NOTHING beats Bacon!
	 |

 Re: sausage vs. bacon

		fast food sandwich=sausage
	resturant(like cracker barrel)=bacon at home=either |

 Re: sausage vs. bacon

bacon wrapped sausage, in warm maple syrup and brown sugar, it's the only way to eat either of em imo
	 |

 Re: sausage vs. bacon

Taking this a step further...waffles or pancakes? Or french toast for you uppity egotistical snobs like Matty
	 |

 Re: sausage vs. bacon

The problem with bacon, is people like it different consistencies. If my bacon is crispy, I dont much care for it -- which flies in the face of what others say. Sausage is much more uniform as far as how it gets cooked.
To Smootsmack, the thread highjacker, pancakes hands down. I hate the shape of waffles, too hard to control. I don't really care for syrup though, too sweet, so buttering a waffle is difficult. |

 Re: sausage vs. bacon

It's always a tough choice but I gotta go with bacon, especially crispy bacon. I love a good bacon burger but i enjoy homemade ones much more because the bacon they put on my burgers at restaurants I eat at is just not as good. Sausage is great too, whether it be patties or links.
As for the waffles v. pancakes debate, man pancakes all the way. I like waffles but it's not debatable for me. |

 Re: sausage vs. bacon

		Scrapple!
but not that thick soggy cake form that they make it in at restaurants sliced thin and fried up crispy on the outsides with just a lil softness in the middle YUM |

Exactly, unless I'm adding it to a dish for texture (say a pasta or sauce to go on fish) I want it chewy |

 Re: sausage vs. bacon

Last night a friend of my wife came over and she brought over some sausage cheese dip. This morning I got up cook a biscuit and but that dip on it and ummmm. The dip was more like sausage gravy then a dip.
Maybe that sausage gravy and bisuit was not such a good idea. Ops, got to run. |

I'll go french toast any day. With some cinnamon sprinkled on it and fresh maple syrup from Vermont courtesy of my godmother. Now that's some good stuff. |

lol I'm a waffle guy myself, but it's a close race between all three. Just a little syrup though, and a lot of times I just eat my waffles plain. |

 Re: sausage vs. bacon

Bacon..not even close. I love sausage but bacon makes everything taste better.

 Re: sausage vs. bacon

I won't lie, I like french toast. But my mother in law made some last year (and she's a good cook) but it was so awful I've been completely put off by french toast now

 Re: sausage vs. bacon

steak is my breakfast meat of choice, followed by ham. but between sausage and bacon, it really depends on the type and where its from, like store bought or a restaurant. i despise sausage links. for a breakfast sandwich id go with sausage patties, and just for a side ill go turkey bacon.

Ahh nutella.. I had actually never had that until about a year ago. Nutella crepes are pretty good even though I don't have much of a sweet tooth. |

If you go to the grocery store and stand in front of the lunch meat section for too long, you start to get pissed off at turkeys. You see turkey ham, turkey pastrami, turkey bologna -- somebody needs to tell the turkeys, 'Man, just be yourself.' - Mitch Hedberg |
