A source close to Weis stated that it was unclear as to what capacity the Redskins want to use him. However, it can’t be too far fetched to believe he would take over as the new head coach of the team.

|
Re: Thoughts on Charlie Weis
I guess i can start watching my second favorite team the Packers

Re: Thoughts on Charlie Weis
I don't know how sincere the interest in Weis. I think a lot of it based on "well Cerrato is a Notre Dame guy, and the Redskins are interested in everybody anyway."
I think Weis is a great offensive coordinator but I don't necessarily want him as my head coach. The Notre Dame job I think humbled him but I'm not sure he's quite ready yet for another head coaching job-which requires a lot more than just calling plays on offense. He's also not a WCO guy. Which is fine I guess, but it just means more changes again. |
Re: Thoughts on Charlie Weis
I'm thinking of taking a rumor holiday vacation. Everyone and their father is going to be rumored to be our next QB, RB, GM, OC, DC, HC, Run DMC, blah blah blah.. I'm going to enjoy the last 3 games and get back to the speculation and rumor mongering in the new year..

you be illin' paintrain

Re: Thoughts on Charlie Weis
Hmmm? Did Weis win a Nat'l Championship up there in South Bend? More than one? BCS Bowl? Anyone? Anyone?
|
Re: Thoughts on Charlie Weis
This rumor has the stench of Snyeratto all of over it. I could totally envision them bringing in Charlie and drafting Jimmy. LOL, Snyeratto strikes again.

Re: Thoughts on Charlie Weis
The part that worries me is the rumor is based on a source close to Weis and that source has stated Weis was uncertain as to what capacity. That infers there has been contact. As for Clausen, there is no guarantee he will be around, Cleveland has reported interest. Unless. Unless of course, we give up the house to move up. Ok, forget it, this is scaring me.

Re: Thoughts on Charlie Weis
If this would really happen.. I may VETO the skins..

I thought we breezed over this rumor a week or so ago?

The source could be Weis himself ("sources close to" is often just media slang for the actual person, not always mind you). Weis has publicly stated he'll be back with the NFL next year but he doesn't know where or with whom. This could just be him drumming up interest or reminding people that he's still available. |
Re: Thoughts on Charlie Weis
im a ND fan and my thoughts are "no thanks". he couldnt beat syracuse
|
Re: Thoughts on Charlie Weis
If he were to come here as an OC, and we could be practically guaranteed to get Clausen and Tate, then I would get him, but I don't see all 3 pieces of that puzzle falling into place so...No

Re: Thoughts on Charlie Weis

Well as the Easterly winds blew it by apparently a tropical storm off the coast has blown it back Westerly. :) I wonder how much of this is Weis trying to up his ante? |

He didnt do good in pseudo-amateur football but from what I remember he didnt do bad coaching pro ball. Spurrier had a Natl Championship and plenty of bowl wins but couldnt do squat in the pros. The pro & college game are very different and success of lack of success in one or the other doesnt mean anything. |

No problem. If Cleveland were to take Clausen, then Snyderatto could simply trade our No. 1 pick to the Browns for Brady Quinn. |
Re: Thoughts on Charlie Weis
Didn't want to start a new thread on this, but we could be close to losing Scott Wachenheim to a head coaching job in college. He's a leading candidate in a couple of places

yeah its on Redskins Insider. I think pretty much everyone on the offensive coaching staff knows they'll become unemployed in the near future. |

Just realized I didn't write Wachenheim and Stump. Meant to say both of them. But yes, they are both candidates in multiple places. Apparently, Wach is closer to a head coaching gig |
Re: Thoughts on Charlie Weis
Didn't Weis just get fired?

Re: Thoughts on Charlie Weis
Like many Notre Dame fans, I was thrilled when Weis went to South Bend and allowed myself the delusion of thinking he would bring them back into the hunt for a national championship. Like many Notre Dame fans I was disappointed with the results of his tenure there and just as thrilled to see him kicked to the curb. He was a disaster as a head coach. He was an excellent coordinator in the NFL though and probably will be again. If it is here, so be it. I just don't want him to be the head coach, or I may to start rooting for my second favorite team, the Ottowa Rough Riders.

he couldn't beat Connecticut! |
Re: Thoughts on Charlie Weis
Good luck to anyone trying to win in Notre Dame. They simply can't compete with the football powers.

Re: Thoughts on Charlie Weis
Poor bastard must be desperate for a job and his agent is working overtime spreading rumors that links him to the Skins. That's usually something you do for players but for coaches? That ain't right.
