i'm engaged right now and lookig for a honeymoon spot, the best deal i have found so far is st. thomas for about $1800.00 w/o airfare. anybody have any good ideas or know from personal experience. i have always wanted to go to fiji, but thats way out of our price range, but i/we still want something in the tropical feel. we are getting married next oct and would be going on the honeymoon in the end of next october. i'm looking at something in the 3 to 4k range, more toward the 3 and not over 4. any sugestions?? thanks

I'm getting married in June, and my fiancee and I are going to Turks and Caicos. Acutally, Caicos to be specific. The whole thing can definitely be done for under $4K easily. I hesitate to post the name of the place here because I want it to remain as relatively obscure as possible. I'll PM you tomorrow with more info.

My fiancee and I just booked our honeymoon in March. We're going to stay at an all-inclusive resort in Playa del Carmen, near Cancun. We got a pretty good deal. We wanted to do the Carribean, but it was just cheaper to do Mexico.

My wife and I went to Jamaica in May for our honeymoon and had a blast. We were originally going to Mexico but opted for Jamaica after hearing a bunch of the stuff that was going on at the resorts at the time.

I don't know what the cost is but talk to a travel agent or maybe do the time online................but there are a Zillion small tropical islands off the beaten path. Many cater to just this sort of thing
While Little Palm may be a bit pricey (and continental) this sort of thing exists all over the Carribean....

Vegas baby

Not your relaxing hang out by the ocean with fruity drinks kind of spot, but still a blast.

Seriously seriously do not go!!!! I want there for my honeymoon and it was so boring. We stayed at the Marriott and if you want to go anywhere on the island it is like a $40 cab ride.

It totally sucks, nothing great about the water or the island.

My wife and I were so sad that we choice that place.

I kept saying I feel like I am trapped in a snow storm, no where to go, nothing was opened, just plain boring.

DON"T GO THERE!!!!!!!!!!

After reading about Key West, I so wish we had gone there.

Orginal was going to Jamica but we cancealed the night of our wedding becasue we wanted another day hanging with our friends, it was with Amex travel so you could canceal any time and rebook, three months later we decide to go to St. Thomas, worst decision ever EVER!

Went to Ireland on mine--we absolutely loved it. B&Bs, pubs, awesome hikes and scenery, great people, great music. Not as cheap as it once was, but if you're not into the tropical thing, I highly recommend it.

I know a few people who've done the all-inclusive thing at one of the many resorts in the Caribbean, and others that have done cruises. Definitely pluses and minuses to both. Before we decided to go cheaper (drove the coast from Maryland to Key West, stopping in Williamsburg, Charleston and Savannah), we were looking at one of the resorts in St. Lucia.

Atlantis in the Bahamas. Lots to do, had a great time. Went back the next year with our son. Went to Cancun about three years ago, good time too, but like Atlantis better.

For our honeymoon, my wife and I went to Peru and did a four-day hike to the Machu Picchu ruins, then spent several days traveling to other spots. Second half of the trip was indeed great, but the hike was unforgettable. For the honeymoon, go international, I say.

Getting married in two weeks and we are honeymooning in Jamaica. Anyone have any advice or cool things to do?

Key West or Vegas. If you want TONS to do and like to have the best food/drink/nightlife you've ever enjoyed, you can't go wrong with either of those places.

You can drink on the streets in both, stay up until 4AM in both. The only difference is Key West is WAY more laid back. You can walk home at 2-4AM and have people offering you random pizza. Wife and I got married in Key West, but have been to Vegas multiple times and it's also a can't-miss.

Have heard New Orleans is outstanding, but haven't been there yet.

:pimp:

Just kidding. I hear the beaches are really amazing though. Most of the people I know that have been usually stayed at a resort.

Re: honeymoon spots

Been to three Hawaiian islands...all great. Maui was my least favorite...it was just typical tropical touristy type. Plenty to do but not beautiful beyond belief. Kauai is redonkulous if you like the lost in paradise type deal. It is literally where they filmed Lost too. Not nearly as much touristy stuff but the resorts are very nice and the island is almost fictional in terms of how beautiful it is. Oahu is fantastic. It isn't nearly the tropical type place like the others...in fact it really is like a giant city but there is so much great stuff to do. Waikiki is the main spot where many resorts are located and is great fun. I'd live in Oahu if it seemed a little more practical.

Are you set on doing a beach type vacation? I was in Prague last year, and I recommend that to anyone and everyone. So much culture and such a beautiful place. Lots of fun things to do there too :)
