One Play, 99 Yards
Was thinking about this yesterday. If you had to give the ball to one player in the NFL today to go 99 yards on one play. Who would you give the ball to?

Re: One Play, 99 Yards
the rb from tennesse,no question
forgot his name.chris johnson I think |
Re: One Play, 99 Yards
Desean Jackson, he is playing out his mind right now....cool question...I think if you went all time big play guy 1. Marshall Faulk in that Rams offense was ridiculous.... 2. Barry Sanders 3. from what I hear Gale Sayers back in the day was the big play man
|
Re: One Play, 99 Yards
Sadly, I think I have to pick DeSean Jackson. I can't stand the kid, his team or anything about him, but he's an incredible player to watch. Nearly unstoppable. Cribbs is a similar type player but I think Jackson could beat him. Tough to pick a RB for this poll when there are two dymanic kick/punt returners who routinely bust off long TDs. Johnson is the best of them if you look at impact over a full season, but as for one explosive play, I have to vote for the Eagle, unfortunately.

Re: One Play, 99 Yards
Just a couple of years ago, Devin Hester would have been at the top of this list. I hesitated to keep him off here.
|
Re: One Play, 99 Yards
I have to give the nod to Chris Johnson. He's got the speed, cut back ability, and he can run through an arm tackle if need be. That said, Cribbs and Jackson are both pretty sick in their right.

Re: One Play, 99 Yards
Hunter the Punter....
(probaboly DeSean Jackson...but I'm becoming a huge fan of Josh Cribbs) |
Re: One Play, 99 Yards
Easy, Chris Johnson. This matter was settled two years ago.

Re: One Play, 99 Yards
Oh, you are asking if you needed a 99 yard play who would it be. I'll have to go with that returner for Kansas sense he had two over 100 yards yesterday.

Re: One Play, 99 Yards
Roy Williams

:laughing2 Miles Austin. He's better. Seriously Desean Jackson.... unfortunately. |
Re: One Play, 99 Yards
CJ. Nobody's faster or quicker, not even DeSean.

For Kansas? The college? That's Mega-tarded. |

I think he's the fastest man in the NFL right now. He would be my choice. |
Re: One Play, 99 Yards
Chris Johnson now but probably LT when he was in his prime also
|
Re: One Play, 99 Yards
I struggled between Chris Johnson and D.Jackson on this one, but I went with Jackson just because of the season he's having. Both he and CJ are threats to take it to the house every time they touch it, but DJ has more longer TDs this year. So he got the slight edge.

How about Johnson if it's a run, and Jackson if it's a pass? LOL. |
Re: One Play, 99 Yards
Hunter the Punter has repeatedly proven his worth as a scoring threat. He is the obvious choice.
|
Re: One Play, 99 Yards
CJ , Rb Titans .
|
Re: One Play, 99 Yards
Johnson runs 4.24...Jackson 4.35.
Assuming a straight line run with constant acceleration: * C. Johnson completes the 99 yard run in 10.494 seconds. * D. Jackson completes the 99 yard run in 10.766 seconds. That is to say by the time Johnson gets in the endzone Jackson will be ~2.5 yards behind him. You want Johnson. |

Football isn't a trackmeet. Sultan McCullough anyone? Also, Rogers-Cromartie tracked CJ down 2 weeks ago. CJ still got the TD But DRC made up alot of ground on him. |
Re: One Play, 99 Yards
JOSH CRIBBS!!!! I love this guy! Plays on a shitty team but he's just a straight up baller. He's just a pure 100% football player. You could line him up at rb, kick off return, punt return, wr, db, he can run the wildcat.....As Deion says, "PAY THE MAN!"

Re: One Play, 99 Yards
I'd take stephen hawking if he were going 99 yards against the redskins defense that played last night.

also Chris Johnson has amazing vision,he sets up his blockers perfectly. Saden on that article you posted, did you notice the 3rd fastest back? "Houston's Anthony Alridge ran 4.33 for the third-fastest time." We've got to get this guy in a game and see what he can do,let him return punts, something |
Re: One Play, 99 Yards
I went with Chris Johnson on this one. One could argue that Desean Jackson has longer plays this year, but that is because Jackson gets the ball in space. If Johnson was to get more balls in space I believe that his numbers would be greater than Jackson's.
I believe also that neither of these guys can touch Hester in a return competition. The problem is that Hester is focusing more on his recieving job than being the alternate return man. I believe that Hester is faster on the football field and has more natural ability to make guys miss in the open field. I just cannot pick him this year though. |
Re: One Play, 99 Yards
One play 99 yards, give me Bo Jackson from Tecmo. I'll zig-zag all the way down the field. :)
|
Re: One Play, 99 Yards
I would have to go with Vick! But D. Green in his prime would also be a great pick!
|
Re: One Play, 99 Yards
Joshua Cribbs! Right now, no one is better in the open field. Chris Johnson is great but for one play, give me Cribbs.
